Yeah, he might be houston bound, which means that the sox desperately need a plan for a 5th starter. We might start by looking to our closer.

I really don't think this is true i mean i heard 12 million but 20 million? Thats crazy, if it is true roger is going back to houston

Would anyone blame him for taking that kind of money if the rumor turned out to be true?

Better the Astros get him then the Yankee's. (that kind of cash might be a little to steep even for King George.....then again I could be wrong?)

This has probably been leaked by Rocket's agents to drive up his price with Boston and the yankees. There is no way that the Astros are offering that kind of dough.

If it's true, I'm happy. Stay in Houston Rog. Stay. The only reason I want Clemens right now is to keep him out of NY.

Sure he'd be an upgrade to the rotation as currently constituted (even IF Wells returns to form), but I have my doubts about him in the AL East. He'd never be able to live up to the hype/money in either NY or Boston. Just stay Roger. Stay.

Richard Justice is the ESPN appointed Clemens expert, and he has been right on with his situation from day 1. He would be the guy who would know. Maybe he is trying to drive up the price. Maybe the stros are trying to drive the market away. Who knows, but chances are he will be in houston for the yr....

If it's true, we wuldn't ahve heard about the offer and he wouldv'e already signed. No one in their right minds would sit on that type of offer.

The person who would sit on that type of offer is the person who said they werent going to make a decision until June. Him not accepting the offer makes perfect sense, wait around and see if Theo or Cashman are stupid enough to match or offer more. They probably wont, but it's worth a shot on his part. Doesnt make a difference either way.

And I, personally believe that this is true. Drayton loves Roger, and the Stros didnt spend much money in the offseason (except Preston Wilson). And personally, I think the Astros need him. I cant sit and watch an Astros game anymore without being bored for some reason. For the past two years, last year especially, I could sit and enjoy watching the Astros, even if Roger or Andy wasnt pitching. But now, despite who's pitching, I cant seem to sit still and watch the game. They need to make some changes down there. This would be it. And I am not surprised one bit.

I wouldn't this year so far, Paps has been our MVP. Plus he has been so dominant and our bullpen would be much worse. our best pitcher would be Timlin who's good but he isn't that great.

I think the Astros will sign Roger. The Astros can tell Roger that they will call up his son in September, who would then have the opportunity to catch a game for his dad. The Yankees or Red Sox can't offer that.

good point but even so the yanks or the sox wouldnt pay the money the stros are offering him anyway

That can't be true. That is an insane amount of money to pay someone whether he is Rogers Clemens or not. I can't see Houston forking out that kind of money for 5 months worth or service.

That is not going to happen. First of all, Koby has been converted to 3B. Second, he is in only A Ball hitting .186. He is not coming to the ML this year to satisfy a whim of the Rocket. It's one thing letting the Rocket stay home for Road Trips. Arguably, he has earned that right. His son has not earned the right to be promoted to the ML club, and management would just not do it. It's going to come down to the best financial package and best business opportunity for the Rocket, pure and simple.

The original rumor on the offer was last year's salary $18 mill prorated to $12 mill based on starting in June. If its $12 mill than that will not get it done.

Roger hasn't said nothin about retiring i think

if he comes back think boston will be his first choice ? He would be a fool to think he shouldnt b/c of this year

i hope he doesnt even consider the Yanks

thats what i ment - a deal SIMILAR to the Stros deal. If Roger really wants to play for the Sox he'll accept the price Theo offers
