Now that Rudy Seanez has proven that no lead is big enough for him to hold, how long do you think sox management will keep him on the roster. Just so everyone has all the info, he is signed through next yr at what I believe is 2.2 mil a yr....

Club option for 2.2 million. He can be cut, and a buyout can be paid. He makes 1.9 million, this year.

I have July 8th, Hansen should be ready by then.

Changed my mind. Seanez will probably turn it around. Opponents bat .159 off Seanez throughout his entire career. This year they're hitting .318. I don't think Seanez' stuff looks that bad, or his strikeouts (14 in 9.1 IP) wouldn't be so high.

If he mixes in his offspeed stuff more, he should be OK.

Rudy will get 1 or 2 more non-pressure situations. If he blows up in either, he'll be gone quick. MAybe they DL him first to buy time to see how Hansen does before he gets cut. July 31st is a long way off. He'll never last.

Over, but not much. I think Hansen unfortunetly will take over after the all star break. Id like him to stay in AAA, but I also giggle when he pitches and its fun to see. So hey, not complaining. Over, but like a day.

At this point I'm starting to get annoyed with Seanez...

Way off topic but I thought Riv would be interested to see Manny and Ortiz were the only Red Sox to go hitless today....and we scored 7 runs....good thing they are the only bats in our lineup

under. theo and the front management has already shown this year a lack of patience, as was the case with bard. but if seanez throws good in the next few outings and does not give up a long ball or some runs and basically stops the bleeding, then obviously, he will stick around to see the all star break. but if this s*** continues, his ass is going to be sent packing.

he'll find something thats flawed in his own vision

About the offense, has anyone else noticed that its been picking up steam since Tampa Bay series? Let alone first 3 games of the homestand Sox have scored 20 Runs. A good deal is helped by Lowell & Wily Mo solidifying the bottom of the order.

yea. not only scoring, but scoring with runners in scoring position instead of just stranding them like the sox were doing before the tampa bay series.

Ahhhh yeah Seanez has been awful, but still not as bad as Julian Tavarez....or Dinardo

eh Seanez has been the vain of the bullpen. He was put in a tied game against Seattle, Everett tied it up with a 2-run HR. The Sox were still able to win that one. He relieved Foulke in an extra innings game and took just 2 pitches to serve up the game winning game. A close one against Tampa Bay had him give up a 2-Run HR to Crawford which was the difference as the Sox tried to come back late in the game. He's been serving up HRs like candy and him pitching regularly in Fenway isnt going to help matters. Last couple of years he gave up 7 total HRs in 106.1 innings. This season he's given up in 4 in just 10.1 innings

Seanez- 11 Runs in 10.1 innings-- 4 HRs-- .318 batting avg against

Tavarez- 7 Runs (6 ER) in 9.1 innings-- 3 HRs-- .306 batting avg against

So yes, Seanez needs to be the first one out of here. Make it happen Theo

Tavarez won't be going anywhere after signing a 2 yr 6.5 million deal

Probably not, but I dont think Seanez is going anywhere either. If anything he will be the mop up guy......that is UNLESS, David Wells somehow pitches another game in a Sox uniform, even then however, I see Dinardo being the first one dumped since he has options.

They're not going to dump a 26 year old who has options. He will go back to AAA, but I still don't even see reason for that because he was a valuable long man.

Seanez has been horrible. Flat out terrible. His performance lately has been Embree-eqsque and its painful to watch. I think I could get a hit off him and in 17 AB's in town league this year, I don't have a hit yet and I'm batting against kids with the 70mph fastballs and acne. Tavarez has been bad, yeah, but a guy like Tavarez has been able to get outs in the past, and he plays with some intensity. I don't think he is just going to fade away and die. He is no papelbon, but I think he has more left in the tank than Seanez who has had a couple of good years but otherwise in his career really hasn't been anything to write home about. I think Tavarez is worth keeping in the long run. Seanez makes me want to throw up. Maybe he is better off in the world fighting championships than on the mound.

Thats what I meant, down to AAA

Seanez has a pretty good track record as well. In fact, Rudy Seanez has a BETTER track record than Tavarez.

Seanez does look like a scary mofo though, he is built like a tank. My money is on Seanez. That beaing said, they have all three been awful, and I wish we would start getting our moneys worth out of Tavarez and Seanez.

Looking over Seanez's numbers does show however, that there may be a relationship between his bad seasons, and pitching in the American League.

Eric Wilbur of the Boston Globe says it best

Too bad when Mirabelli’s police escort showed up at Fenway Monday they couldn’t sneak Seanez into the car for an express return to Logan. The day is coming, and another $2 million is wasted on the bullpen. But, what else is new for the Red Sox.

Seanez no longer has big league stuff. His pitches have no life. He needs to be gone yesturday.

I wouldnt say that. His Breaking ball is still nasty, and he still has good velocity. He cant locate, plain and simple. There is nothing wrong with his stuff. You dont need good stuff if you can locate, Tom Glavine, Jeff Suppan, John Lieber, Esteban Loaiza, and Livan Hernandez have all had decent to good seasons recently and are considered to not have great stuff. They locate the ball well, and pitch in the National League. Seanez is in the wrong league, he has big league stuff, but its NL stuff, NL hitters just dont hit as well as AL hitters.

with that beaing said, he should be gone, but they will have to eat his contract, nobody will want to trade for him at this point.....but there really isnt anything wrong with his "stuff".

I'm not talking about having good stuff. I'm talking about having life on your pitches. Too many of Seanez's pitches look like they should be thrown during BP.

But if they are located well, it shouldnt matter is all I am saying. John Burkett threw batting pratice fastballs, and had a slow crappy breaking ball and was very successful with ATL before switching leagues.

OK regardless if it's location or life, the guys cooked, and needs to be let go.
