Pedro is unique because he did essentially do what Johnny did (aside from the yankee part), however unlike johnny Pedro, what he did for us outweighs what he did by signing somewhere else. For seven years he anchored this pitching staff and did amazing things for us, sure johnny helped, and no bigger than in game seven of the ALCS but you can't take away what pedro did. hes forever idolized in Boston

Exactly, Pedro is our messiah. Now we have to pray to the south.

Speaking of bad posts you came back with nothing. Everything you say on this site should be removed considering you have been on here constantly writing ******** about your team. Everything you say is an attempt to bring down the Red Sox and state your claim as an evil empire bitch. I know your a Yankee fan, I know you hate the Red Sox, I know you will go against everything we say just to get a rise out of the members on this site. I also know this is what gets you excited and all you hope to accomplish is to get us pissed off. Personally I think you provide nothing to this site and you're annoying. Think it over and maybe you should consider moving on to a Yankee site where what you say can count for something. Or maybe you should consider writing meaningful posts and not attempt to pick fights with everyone like a select few of the Yankee members on here.

another post of attacks. You want something punk? Here you go.

We would be okay with getting the championship without playing the games? That is the gayest thing I have ever heard. Seriously, what baseball fan would say they would not like to watch any baseball. Just a f***ing stupid post, utterly pathetic and downright comical.

I don't care what it takes for the yankees to win a world series? Aside from the obvious, I wouldnt. You arent a fan of a team if you won't accept a win at any cost mentality. And if you want to call out the drug users, go ahead. No team is innocent, it has pervaded everything. Only a select few have been caught and 2 of them play for us. I don't like them, but they wear the NY logo on their hat and Yankees on their chest, so I will root for them, period. Any "Fan" who cannot accept that is not a true fan of their TEAM. Apparently you will only accept choirboys on your team, but you are already shooting yourself in the foot with losers like Tavarez.

We are the NY Yankees, worship us? No, but acknowledge that the franchise over the years has been amazing and some of the leaders of our team are stand up, good guys. Same as yankee fans will acknowledge that Ortiz and Vtek are good players and good stand up guys.

As far as cheering a player that has returned, it is the right thing to do. He was the sparkplug of the 1st championship in 86 years. He helped bring joy to your club and he did what every other red blooded capitalist would do, and he went for the money. You should cheer him when announced and then treat him like every other pinstriper gets treated. If you cannot do that, then you lack maturity and respect, but I see you already lack that....

I'm actually going to go dead silent in my head (since I won't be in attendance) throughout his entire AB. He gets no reaction from me despite being a renegade in the fact that he swore his allegiance last season, and then contradicts himself in the offseason.

You would like to think they are stand up, good guys wouldn't you?? Either that or they are just money hungry.

You realllly think we should cheer for him?? If he really cared about Boston then he would stick with the team. He left us and went to our biggest rival...why should we give him the satisfaction when he turned his back on us?? He spent several seasons fighting for us now he has decided to fight directly against us...and its not like he is at the end of his career. He will fight against the Red Sox for the next 4 years...might as well get a head start.

The battle between the NY Yankees and Boston Red Sox is bigger than any one player.

Eh, I'd say themselves mostly since they'll die in their 40's.

I can't disagree with you there, I think we can all agree with what the commercial with the white statue says.

Okay, you contradicted yourself, again. The battle between the Yankees and Red Sox is bigger than one player, yes that is true, but if that is the case then why are you so hung up about one player. Also, loyalty goes both ways. The Red Sox were not loyal to him by offering him a substandard deal (one furcal signed, Damon's value went up) and even went so far as to blow him off as a non-priority. That isnt the best way to show loyalty to one of your best players.

Also, they are money-hungry? What do you do for a living? If someone offered you 12 million more $$ to do what you do, would you take it? Seriously, taking more money by switching jobs happens all the time. Why is it so taboo in baseball? When you get out into the real world, you'll see why he made that decision. Even if you are loaded, 12 mil is 12 mil, and that is a ton of $$ man, a ton of money. And you would be lying if you said that you wouldnt take that money....

Thats an economists philosophy. I'd rather be doing what I love to do for less money than be miserable with a s*** load of more money. Yes, I want to make enough money to be living comfortably, but after that it's needless. If I make 1 billion a year at some job, and I get a similar job offer, but instead I'd be making 12 bil I wouldn't jump. What difference does it make if I make 12 billion or 1 billion? I'm not going to be buying multiple houses and cars. I know this doesn't sound logical to most people, but thats my thinking.

But is there any certainty that the excessive addition of money would make someone happy? Sure, it may seem like the greatest thing in the world on the first day, but after awhile doesn't it get boring going out and buying stuff, stuff that you really don't need, but since it doesn't hurt you finanically you can do so anyways.

I'm talking about my 1 billion to 12 billion scenario. I'm not talking about any amount of money here. Only in the excessive range.

Well guess what...I'm not lying and I wouldn't take the money and here are the reasons. First off, how much money is enough? Honestly how much money do you need? There are many people who feel money is not the most important thing in life. In my case..I would have stayed in Boston where the city loved to have me, they were always in my corner and I really made a place for myself. What more could you ask for when its all over?? I see players take less money from there home team because its where they want to be. I would do the same.

If I decided to go New York then I would be fully aware of what comes with that. Say goodbye to the team I cherrished and goodbye to the fans who felt I was on there side. Boston will never forgive me for this one....I told them I would never leave and certainly not for the most hated rival. Johnny Damon was already a millionaire. When it comes to 40 million and 52 million is there really a difference? Would you throw away the city that truely made you the player you are for an extra 12 million when you already have more than enough? I choose loyalty over money. I need it just like everyone else....but I would never sacrafice whats truely great...and he did...the hell with him

I would cheer him.

He took 12 million dollars a year from the Yankees for four years and he's 34 years old as a Center Fielder.

By not signing with us he essentially gave us 26 year old CF wh is on the rise for less money.

I stand up and cheer for anyone who does that for the Red Sox.

If Johnny had signed anywhere eles I would Cheer him like a hero, however he proved his whole hairdue/Jesus impression was all an act just to make dollars, Damon didnt give a s*** about the fans in Boston it was all about the money. If Johnny truly cared about Boston fans he would have passed up on the Money and stayed here, but he proved that baseball is a buisness, he would sell out a organzitation and Nation that was made him a cult hero just to earn a few extra bucks. (granted 12 million isnt pocket change)

You guys really have high expectations for crisp, while he's not a bad player, he won't be as good as johnny this year.

Trot being real about it

Trot Nixon, who has been in the Sox organization longer than any current player, on how fans will react to Johnny Damon's first appearance in Fenway Park tonight: ''I think they'll cheer him his first at-bat, then boo him. I'm just speculating. They'll probably cheer him because they have respect for what he did when he was here, then they'll go to booing him because he's a Yankee now.

''If he had a different jersey on, he'd probably be cheered every at-bat, kind of like [Orlando] Cabrera was.

''I could be completely wrong, too. He could get full-out boos, and minimal cheers."

Another ex-Sox favorite, Pedro Mart?nez, is scheduled to return for the first time in June with the other New York team, the Mets.

''I think he'll be cheered even more," Nixon said, ''because he's not on a team that we play a lot or we have to battle against, like the Yankees.

If I were there, he'd get light applause in his 1st AB, silence after that. I'm also not a boo-bird.

Is execution for treason an option? :-)

Seriously, I like good baseball. I'm in the first AB, standing ovation camp. After that, treat him like any other Yankee.

When players make great plays, I (like 99.999% of the Boston fans) cheer. And this isn't limited to baseball. Remember the SO given to Magic when he retired from the Lakers? How about (for those old enough) the "Beat LA" chant when Philly/Dr-J knocked the Celtics out of the playoffs?

Boston fans know sports, and are a class act. I expect nothing less tonight.

You guys see this quote from Keith Foulke? Think he is a little bitter at Sox fans?

" 'I think he's probably going to get a heavy booing. You go from Red Sox Nation to a big Yankee. I'm sure there will be a lot people who will cheer him, but I think you'll hear pretty loud boos. That's just how the fans are... No one ever leaves their job for a job that pays more money,' Foulke said, his words dripping with sarcasm. 'Why would [fans] understand? We're just overpaid, spoiled kids.' " -- 5.1.06, Keith Foulke Being Keith Foulke

I don't think he is bitter. It's just that many ballplayers have a difficult time of understanding the emotional side of fandom, because it is a business to them. Foulke is one of those guys that is not a fan of the game. It is purely a business for him, but he has a very competitive nature and always gives his best. His unemotional approach has probably helped him be the great closer that he has been throughout the years. He just cannot comprehend our fanaticism. That's okay. Truth be known, a majority of players think the fans are suckers. Foulke is just honest about it. I for one get tired of players moving from franchise to franchise and reciting the same platitudes about the city having a great baseball tradition and great, knowledgeable fans, and a FO that is committed to winning. It makes me sick. They are just blowing smoke up our asses. Stop being offended if a player says he doesn't like fans or criticizes us. We are a pathetic lot, and deserve their disdain. We put up with over-priced tickets, merchandise, and a complete commercialization of the game we grew up loving. Fans have to realize that we are suckers. Those who don't are merely living in denial.

Fine he'll be 36 after the contact is over far beyond the average CF's prime.

I'm not saying Coco is going to be better than Damon this year but in the long term we got the better deal.
