As good as Beckett has been to this point he reminds me a little of Wade Miller last season....

 

Struggles in the beginning and throws a lot of pitches but then settles down and plays better. Obviously Beckett is much better with more talent but he needs to be more mentally ready to play...I don't understand that whole "take forever to pitch" routine

So after great starts, Schilling and Beckett have both had rough outings.

 

I expect them to get things back on track next time out. If not, this season is going to be a VERY long season.

They are better offensively...Pitching is a whole different story in which the Sox pitching is probably better than the Guardians.

It's amazing. I can't remember the last Sox team (2000?) where I thought about changing the channel if they were down by 5 runs in the 3rd. I half expected it... But this offense is so un-clutch it's not even funny.

Anyone else worry that Beckett may not be healthy? I mean, going back to his last start he's given up 10 runs in his last 4 innings.

 

 

 

please, come on. some sox fans go to great lengths to keep me frustrated. just because a guy is bad for a time doesn't mean there is something wrong with him. look up some of the stuff he has done in the past, the book on beckett is that sometimes he has control problems early and gets lit up early. oomgomgomgo he might not be healthy. give it a rest. i dont mean to go house on just you, but come on man.

The sox top 2 are likely better, but the entire Guardians rotation is stronger top to bottom...

says you. Chacon and Wang were horrible early on and have locked in. Our pen has been surprisingly good thus far. 5 straight great pitched ball games against 2 of the top half in the league in scoring. Funny how I have no faith in the next 2 games though. Jaret Wright tomorrow against Halladay and RJ against the Jays is just bad news. I dunno why, but RJ cannot pitch against the Jays....

My thoughts havent changed on Beckett after 1 rough outing, feel the same as I did after his first start. Hes gonna be good for 15-18 Wins, 3.70 - 4.10 ERA

I dunno why, but RJ cannot pitch against the Jays....

That's because the Jays can rake LHP. They are a 1.024 OPS team against LHP this year. That said, RJ is facing Towers, the Yanks lineup should have a nice BP day that day.

Two rough outings? Yeah, he blew the game at the end of the Toronto game, but through 7 he pitched like an ace, so I wouldn't exactly call the Toronto outing a rough one. Disappointing would be the more appropriate word. Tonight was his first official rough outing, and first official loss. He'll bounce back though. I'm not going to hit the panic button over one outing. Although, I will say this, the Sox need to stop leaving a boat load of men on base.
