He will not be going to AA ball. The Drays are going to have him play in some extended spring training games along with some time off as well. I also heard he has to do some community service as well.

Right, I know he wont be going to Double A, I was just curious if they could send him down somewhere else, other than the international league, or if the suspension would still be in effect. I just used Double A as an example.

Here is the answer to your question 26 to 6

Mike (SF): The INTERNATIONAL league suspended Delmon Young 50 games. Can the Devil Rays call him up tomorrow and have him play for them ?

Jim Callis: (2:15 PM ET ) I believe they could, as the suspension wouldn't come with him. But the Devil Rays plan on upholding the suspension and aren't even letting Delmon play in extended spring training yet. He's not coming up any time soon.

I've asked a couple people and nobody knows.

It is the International League that is suspending him. So not that they would, becausde it would be stupid, but COULD the Devil Rays send him down to Double A or something and would he be allowed to play there since it's not the international league? Thanks.

I was listening to ESPN radio here in Florida on my way back from the D-Rays vs. Sox two Sundays ago, and they had the president of the IL and Tampa's GM on the phone as they discussed this very issue. Apparently, there is reciprocity in the minor leagues, meaning a suspension in the IL will be observed in the EL, Carolina League, SAL, GCL, etc., etc. The only way to get around it is to send him to Tampa since there is no agreement between the minor leagues and MLB (the player's union is to blame for this). If he were sent up and MLB observed the suspension, he could file a grievance with the union.

woah. That's interesting.

But seriously, back to young, what a moron. He ruined his entire career throwing a bat. What an idiot(no not the cool idiots :) )

He ruined his career? How so?

For the rest of his career instead of talking about his possible accomplishments, he will always be the guy who cursed off the ump and chucked a bat.

Yeah? So?

When it comes to Barry Bonds, all people talk about is steriods, but you cannot deny the fact that the guy has had a pretty good career.

Delmon Young is the same way, he's a five tool prospect with the potential to hit .300, with 40 HR's, if he does that in the bigs, then I don't see how he is a failure.

Wow this kid Delmon Young just wont quit on loweing his image. Hey Delmon here's two letters, PR. Keep that in mind because you arent making yourself out to be respectable as your talent should

http://www.sptimes.com/2006/07/28/Rays/Rays_offer_Lugo_deal_.shtml

In a USA Today article, top prospect Delmon Young questioned why he, B.J. Upton and Elijah Dukes have not yet been called up. "They're what, 30 games out of first place?" Young said. "They think we're going to mess up their clubhouse chemistry. B.J. should be up there. What are they waiting for? They always have excuses." Young then said he was just venting and "we're just employees here."

calling out the D-Rays management, and the team itself. What a team player

Hamilton is available without a doubt if someone wants to trade for him. He is not the top prospect he once was and won't ever likely pan out. His off field problems have hurt thus his prospect status is pretty much gone as well.

Was it with these devil rays minor leaguers with the "mightier than thou" egos?

Also I found it very funny Delmon Young was commenting about clubhouse chemistry

Why would anyone want to trade for him?

I didn't' date=' I said they were going nowhere, as in their careers.[/quote']

you are a fool then if u think upton and young are going to be busts at this stage of their careers.

Delmon Young is going nowhere' date=' same with Upton and Hamilton. If these 3 kids, or even 2 of them, turned out as good as imagined, this team would be excellent.[/quote']

i will place a bet with you right now, that Upton and Young play atleast a combined 8 all-star games in their careers.

While Young shouldnt say anything he is kinda right. The D-Rays are going nowhere. Why are they fooling around with Greg Norton when they could give Young a chance? It sounds like they plan on moving Upton to 3rd. Why not trade Wiggington to a team that needs a 3B (Padres) and call up Upton. Because of the many outfielders they have they could deal Dukes for some pitching.

They're the Devil Rays. They suck. They get all that money from revenue sharing, and it goes directly into the owners pockets.

Its quite amazing. I read this quote before I went to the stadium tonight and then I see Greg Norton playing RF. It makes no sense what so ever. Do they honestly think that they have a better chance winning games with Greg Norton playing RF over Young?

They can save $300,000 by not playing Delmon Young.

I hate this organization. I live here in Sarasota, and I always hear, "the D-Rays will grow on you."

Any organization that does away with paper clips to build an aircraft career belongs in the minor leagues.

Its quite sad cause they have developed some pretty good position players. Outside of stealing Kazmir from the Mets they have zero pitching. Maybe they will find it with a guy like Niemann but they do need more pitching. I guess if they used that revenue sharing money they might be able to find some.
