id have to say that so far, the team ive been most impressed with is Buffalo. I think it will be between Anaheim and San Jose for the western championship, and San Jose wins.

So my pick is Buffalo beating San Jose in 6 games.

it looks like san jose wont even make it the next round , so my pick would be buffalo VS anaheim in the finals

Oh snap son! Great NHL post-season thus far. I'm pullin' for the 'Canes just because I feel like it. I don't have a second team beside the Bruins so I just randomly feel like watching the 'Canes win.

LOL....Canes GM says Montreal was tougher than Ottawa

What a joke Rutherford is. Sure, Montreal is a good team, but they're not even in the same league as Ottawa.

If they think Montreal is tough, they're in for a world of hurt starting Saturday...

Please Carolina See through all that hype. The Sabres are old, slow and really only have one scoring line (per shift)....

Take the Sabres lightly - it worked well for Philly and Ottawa.

I'd like to see Buffalo vs. Edmonton, it would be one hell of a matchup, you have to admit. All the drama of America vs. Canada, New Sabres vs. Old Sabres, spoilers versus studs... I am personally looking for that matchup.

wow. I really don't care. honestly, if the bruins aren't playing it doensn't make a difference. I can apreciate a good hockey game thats non-bruins, I loved pretending to be bobby orr playing hockey with tennis rackets and balls with friends on hot nights during the finals when the bruins weren't even playing. those were the days.

Oilers win! Now please beat the Ducks.

GO 'CANES!

GO OILERS!

BTW, those punk-ass Sharks fans were booing when the Canadian National Anthem was being played at HP Pavilliion. *******s. They pulled a Habs crowd. Then again, some (or most) Canadian crowds do the vice-versa. Can't blame Sharks fans, though. They are the same people who root for Barry Bonds.

Thornton had another average playoffs scoring wise and again couldn't elevate his team when they really needed it. Not that he is a bad player but this was a great chance to get his team to the finals and he can't carry him on his shoulders.

yeah yeah miller was outstanding, and that's an understatment

he's the best goalie left in the playoffs.

sabres now hold home ice.

7 wins...

my pucks and schmucks for game 1 (really only buffalo players since that's all I focused on):

PUCKS

Chris Drury: He truly is a hockey god. Like some sort of savant, just has the knack for making the plays at the critical junctures you need to win big games. The backchecking shot block with the stick when Miller was down and out was huge, and his block + clear to salt the game as well.

Jochen Hecht: Amazingly underrated player. Makes every other Sabre on the ice better. I mean, his pass turned McKee into Danny Gare for 3 seconds.

Jason Pominville: Made the key passes leading to the first 2 Buffalo goals.

Ryan Miller: Dominator who? Someone call a cop, he stole Game 1.

Henrik Tallinder: Is there any doubt he's our #1 guy? If he played like this all year, he'd get Norris Trophy consideration (good) and Noris Trophy salary consideration (bad).

SCHMUCKS

Rory Fitzpatrick. f***in Swinging Gate #8. He was taking the puck in open ice with no pressure at all and finding ways to cough it up. He was brutal. Somehow got a excuse-me assist on McKee's goal but had just about nothing to do with it; he was off the ice when it was scored. Campbell can play top-5 minutes when paired with a competent NHL defenseman, but he can't play defense for two like Teppo can.

Cory Stillman: Had the tying goal on his stick and gagged it 4 feet wide.

J.P. Dumont: Speaking of gagged... had two glorious scoring opportunities. At least he didn't hurt the team when he was out there by taking dumb penalties.

Toni Lydman: Return of the hand-grenade man; his worst defensive outing since Game 1 vs Philly. Good thing he's paired with Da Man. When he's not, he really suffers (see the pairing with Campbell on the Carolina shortie).

oilers go up 3-0 against the ducks  it will be the first time an 8 seeded team goes to the finals since the introduction of the conference format in 1994.

Biggest mistake the Avalanche ever made was trading Chris Drury. I'm still extremely pissed off about that move. The guy's not the biggest numbers guy ever but I always felt that if you needed a big goal, you could count on Drury getting it. Plus he was a fan favorite in Colorado. He is just so god damn clutch. The Avalanche have never been able to replace his assetts.

Funny little quote from Aaron ward in the Toronto Sun:

"As a hockey player you get that sense that momentum starts to shift," Ward said. "They're controlling play a little bit and you start taking those penalties. It's easy to say, 'Well, stop taking them,' but when you're running around, and you've got 22,000 people moaning and groaning every time somebody gets touched out there -- and we were touching them -- it's pretty much demanded by the rules of hockey that we're going to get penalties."

Hate to break it to you Aaron, but it's only 19k. It just feels like a lot more because you aren't used to playing in front of real hockey fans.

The Ducks are done!!!

Quick goalie question: How do you determine thw W-L record for a goalie in a game. Let's say the starter left the game with the game tied, then the back-up finished with a win. Who gets thw win? Is it like baseball, too?

Edmonton is on fire as a team now. Everyone the Sergi Samsonov cup ceremony will commence on city plaza sometime next month.
