As far as cities, I lived in Beantown for a little while, love the city. NY is a nice city as well, but it is a little too big.

As far as Paris, who gives a flying f*** about that city. They are lucky that their white flag factory is in business or all those panty waste wusses over there would have to actually do some work. Nothing like eating cream sauces, smokin butts and not shaving armpit hair (for women). Fug them. France blows....

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Yeszir is French....

Why so many of us despise Damon is because he looked us all in the eye and lied through his teeth. HE SAID HE WOULD NEVER PLAY FOR THE YANKEES. He said he loved the Red Sox fans and would never abandon them. He said he loved Boston and wanted to finish his career here. So what did he do? He lied, took the money and ran. That is why so many of us have turned on him. I can only hope that Coco Crisp does so well that within two years he will be nothing but an unpleasant memory to us.

Right Ghost, and he was a better man than any of us could be. He was perfect; I am not and neither is anyone other mortal that I know of. We have our likes and dislikes, but I'm going to tell you something that I have always felt. The Lord loves winners and he doesn't like losers or liars or cheaters. Damon is the second and as a work-in-progress in the eyes of the Lord I have the right to dislike liars. If you are more forgiving on this score than I am, I salute and take my hat off to you.

Johnny Damon is Human. Did he mean it when he said: "He'd never play for the Yankees" Probably. Did he mean it when he said: "He loved it in Boston and loved the fans" I believe he did. Why did he go to the Yankees then? We'll never really know? We're only fans, we're not insiders, all we know is what we're told, we can guess and speculate and draw our on conclusions all we want, but are they right?......... That's the question.

Each and everyone of us contradicts ourselves constantly and for a astronomical number of reasons, it's easy for us to justify our own contradictions because we made them, and seeing as how we made them then there legitimate. "We reserve the right to change our own minds" But, if someone else changes their mind then that's cause for question.

That great man we both spoke of didn't differentiate between winners and losers, he didn't judge anyone.....that's what made him who he was. Comparing winners to losers and judging people......that's what makes who we are.

Twisted the words? Maybe in your opinion I did. The fact is, whether I did or not I still believe Damon betrayed the fans by his callous move to our enemy. He lied to the fans and he fooled a lot of people and I look forward to giving him a very hot reception when he comes out to California and plays the Angels. I have my tickets and he will know that I am out there in the centerfield stands.

Bill Mueller was my favorite Red Sox as well. Since I now follow the Dodgers in the NL I look forward to cheering Bill on this season in the games I attend at Dodger Stadium. He was a real gamer for us and he played his heart out every time he stepped on the field.

I wouldn't say he lied, but he kinda said things at the time to please the fans. Johnny Damon had every intention to re-sign with the Boston Red Sox, but in his opinion, he was disrespected. They Yankees swooped in with a higher offer, and Damon took it. Damon probably doesn't give two shits about the rivarly, he just wanted to get paid.

Could be you're right Crespo. It just rubbed me the wrong way. I keep hearing this word disrespect. Petey sung the same tune last off season. Are these guys only interested in the big payday? When you're multi-millionaire does an extra couple of million actually make it worth deserting a team and town that made you into a rock star? Maybe I'm just too old fashioned for my own good and ought to get with the real program as it exists today. Everything for the money; the money is everything.

i hope he comes back to fenway someday and the crowd gives him a nice long standing ovation .he just played his ass off and wore that uniform with class .the dodgers are lucky to have him .

Bill, I miss your namesake already. Fortunately I am following the Dodgers in the NL for the first time in 49 years, and will be there to root Bill Mueller on. He is my type of player and when I coached baseball all those years it was players like him that I always looked for to play on my teams. Those kinds are champions. BTW, just to keep the record straight the RED SOX are my No. 1 team, no question about it. The Dodgers are a very very very very distant second, but there is no ballplayer I like anymore than Bill Mueller.

Well said! He played the hot corner in a tough infield and never got the recognition that he deserved. I hope i am wrong, but i have a feeling we will be missing "the pro" more throughout the course of the season! Good Luck Bill, you deserve the best!

mtb, I really don't know too many Red Sox fans who had anything but praise for Bill Mueller. The guy always gave 1000% and put his body on the line every play and every day. Plus the guy was a clutch hitter and a go to guy. Remember, he even won the AL Batting title in 2003. He gave us three good years and only wish he could have given us more. I will be at Dodger Stadium a number of times this year rooting Bill, Nomar and Derek on. BTW, I leave for Fort Myers tomorrow morning. I will let you guys know what I see that impresses me when I get back. Take care.

You know guys, one thing I should not forget to mention. Unlike other websites this one tells you what the message sent to you says. You then have the option of answering or ignoring it. Plus I like at the end when each message from the board says "all the best". Nice to know you are thought of so highly by the board.

Fort Myers? Cool, have fun at Spring Training. I always wanted to go.

No, you really don't.

Unless you like old people, which Florida is crawling all over with.

Sorry, I had to post that.

Yes Parisians commonly refer to NY as the greatest city in the world. Afterall, Paris has little culture, terrible food, and no diversity. In fact, the world community has bestowed this honor on NYC. Where is NY's education system ranked? I am a New Yorker (probably for longer than anyone on these boards) so I am familiar with the obnoxious attitude that NYC (more specifically Manhattan) is the world and nothing else matters. BTW Manhattan-ites would not be caught dead in the Bronx except to go to the bedpan of a stadium that I like to refer to as the House Built by A Fat Former Red Sox Pitcher.

Are you from NY or did you move here?

Sorry, I had to post that.

No 60 year olds will be playing on those fields, thats all I care about.

And Tampa is a pretty good city, not too many old people. I imagine I could have fun in Tampa. I guess Fort Myers is a different story however.

You missed the point of the post. The real point was the third sentence. Wow, I can't believe I thought of something like that.

Unless you're over 21, you aren't going to have much fun in Tampa.

I guess I should head over to that thread than. I am trying to avoid posting in there though, I dont like talking politics with people I dont know, very touchy topic for some.

But i'll check otu what you said.

..and yea, you're probably right about Tampa. But i'm sure i'll find something to do if I go before i'm 21.

Spring training was still an amazing experience. Tons of autographs, sometimes conversations with the players and just a laid back good time with baseball.

Don't stay at a Days Inn though.

lol. Why not Days Inn? (Not that I would ever plan to stay there. If I were to go to Tampa I would stay at the Raddison, owned by George Steinbrenner. And plus, thats where all the players (except the ones who have residences in Tampa, like Jeter, Sheffield, etc.) stay during ST.

We stayed at one, and it was horrible. I don't know where the players stay, maybe next time we'll have to trail the bus.

Let's not forget that in that infamous game in 04 with the fight---it was mueller that hit the game winning home-run that kind of set off the run!

I was born in Brooklyn and currently live on L.I.
