What the hell does that mean?

Are you seriously telling me FoxSports is hiring sports writers that can't even speak english?

Are you questioning the word wont? I mean, the sentence grammar is fine and wont is the only obscure word there. If you don't get it because of wont, I can help. Wont means "accustomed" or "used to". With that definition, then sentence should make more sense.

Yeah actually I just read it as "won't" as I didn't know wont was a word. Thanks for clearing that up.

Hammer, those months can fly by very fast and we still could be in this "holding pattern" mode with Papi as far as getting this signing business done. AND---if this drags out too long we could find ourselves getting the business and could lose the guy. I really think that as bad as losing Roger, Petey, Mo, and Judas were, if we were to see the Big Papi sign with another team I think the current ownership would lose all credibility in Boston and could not recover from it. As outlandish as it might seem to you, I think their gooses would be cooked in Red Sox Nation and would eventually have to sell the team. It would be one PR debacle that could never be rectified.

Ken Rosenthal

"With Opening Day less than three weeks away, scouts watching the Red Sox say the team should be concerned about third baseman Mike Lowell, 32, and first baseman J.T. Snow, 38.

"Lowell, in the words of one scout, has 'lost his body quickness.' Snow also lacks athleticism.

I can understand his rant on Lowell, just 3 for 21 (but 0 errors in 7 games). However, I dont see his logic in saying that the team should be concerned about Snow. He has been playing some great D this spring, let alone he's been hitting well.

6 games- 5 for 16 (.313 avg) Double, 6 RBIs

Riverside, when has Ken Rosenthal ever taken a positive spin on the Red Sox? What did you expect from that guy anyway? I pay him no mind at all, but I will tell you this: If Lowell doesn't start to turn it around the next week or two we may have a problem. I'm now beginning to wonder if the rumors of him being on roids might have a tinge of truth to them. I hope I'm wrong.

You are. The guy wasn't on roids. People do age and lose their swing naturally. This roid witch hunt is going a little far. Might his days be numbered? Yeah, but he wasnt on roids. I think he still has a good chance to get his swing back. Its only spring training.

Mr. "K", hopefully you're right and we have nothing to worry about, except maybe when they are going start winning at least a few Spring Training games. We are overdue and a hot Lowell might just be what we need to get everything in order. Youk, Loretta, Coco, and Mohr are doing their jobs, the rest ought to follow. At least that is what I'm hoping.

Slugger, Lowell got two hits yesterday in the Red Sox win over the Twins and we can hope this is the start of something good for both him and the team. As a man who managed baseball teams for 30 years I learned that winning is a habit, and so, unfortunately, is losing. Spring Training games or no, a few wins here and there certainly cannot hurt. Besides Riverside, I am going to Spring Training on the 26th and have tickets for three games. I sure as heck don't want to see three loses because it's a hell of a long trip from California to Florida just for that. Have a great day.

I had heard on WEEI yesterday, Chris Snow was reporting from spring training camp and gave his best guess of what the opening day (Apr 3) lineup would look like. Of course as he noted, its hard to guess with Tito who makes changes up to right before the 1st pitch is thrown. Snow also mentioned he is getting a very good indication that Dustan Mohr will make the team straight out of the gate.

1. Coco Crisp CF

2. Mark Loretta 2B

3. David Ortiz DH

4. Manny Ramirez LF

5. Jason Varitek C

6. Mike Lowell 3B

7. J.T. Snow 1B (to offset the ammount of righties in the back of the lineup)

8. Dustan Mohr RF (Though Millwood is a righty, Trot is just 1 for 15 facing him)

9. Alex Gonzalez SS

That lineup makes me sick Riverside. Once again, they are f***ing around with Kevin Youkalis. The guy deserves to be in that friggin' lineup from the get-go. J.T. is a fill-in, a reserve, he is over the hill and lacks power. We don't need another Menky, or God forbid, a Millar type offensive player out there. Snow is supposed to be a defensive replacement and spot starter from rare time to time. If Francona is going to screw Kevin again I and every Red Sox fan in Christendom should raise holy hell about it. This absolutely sickens me if it is true.

Its just one game. And this is for the opening game, April 3, not for the season. Hence Dustan Mohr filling in for Trot who hasnt had success against Millwood.

This is also just Chris Snow's prediction of what it will look like.

I have to believe when Red Sox management got Mike Lowell, they did it with eyes wide open. His offensive potential is what got him to Fenway.

Riverside, it is amazing how one game becomes two, and two games becomes three and before you know it we have a full blown platoon situation and a first base controversy on our hands. It happened last year---and don't think Francona will abandon it if is not working. He will keep plugging Snow in that lineup until someone in the front office orders him not to and that might never happen. Then Youk loses another year because he is misused. Look, Kevin is hitting and hitting with power in ST; he deserves that first base job. JT has become nothing but a journeyman and a late inning replacement. Youk can turn out to be even better than predicted. I think the guy has a tremendous upside and can do better against Millwood and an 0 for 4 which I will bet will be what Snow winds up getting. And it might cost us the game. Francona cost us a few last year with his stubborness in continuing to use Millar, and his constant use of the ineffective and arson causing Embree and Mantei until the front office wisely got rid of them so he couldn't use them anymore. Those moves by Tito cost us the AL East title last year.

Teddy Ballgame, Lowell is starting to hit now and I hope that leads to something good. It would be a great shot in the arm for us if he makes a big comeback this year. He could actually turn out to be an improvement over Bill Mueller, though I say that with a lump in my throat since Bill was my favorite Red Sox player who I will cheer for this year out here as a member of the Dodgers.

Damon on mlb.com

"It happened -- I'm over it, so they've got to get over it," Johnny Damon said of Red Sox fans' attitude toward him.

We're the ones who need to get over it? We are all over it, have been for awhiel, we just need to let out our agression to make it complete. Look at yourself, every interview you have is about the damn contract talks with Boston, or this is how the Sox FO does compare to the Yankees. Yea I'm sure you will be able to shrug off the biggest booing reception you have gotten in your career

Yeah, I'm sure Johnny Damon will read this.

Seriously, I am Johnny Damon, and I want you to knock it off. I love Boston, don't make fun of me. I will be able to shrug off the booing, because I am chate. Unlike you. I also have long hair, or "had". :damon: This makes me want to cry.

Go get 'em Riverside. Many of us want to hand the guy his head for his treachery. But we do have to move on. Coco Crisp will make us forget Johnny Damon within two seasons, and when Jacoby Ellsbury gets here and CC moves to left, Damon will be nothing more than a sad footnote in our history. We all have to vent once in awhile and it was your turn. I am due for one myself.

Crespo, I don't know if you were venting for the hell of it, were panning what Riverside said or were ready sincere in your hatred of Damon. Anyway, I will keep an eye on you and see how you react when Damon does make his disgusting re-entry into Fenway Park. Some are taking his departure with a grain of salt, the rest of us are taking it hard. If our team does well this season and wins the AL East and go on to higher acclaim Damon will be forgotten like a fart in the wind.
