Boston Herald former members thread (info inside)

It seems like a lot of us are getting off on the wrong foot here. I'd like to use this thread as a liason between old Boston Herald forum members and current Talksox members.

 

Basically, as far as I can gather, the reason the Herald forum is now closed is because of fights from the poltics forum over there spilling over into other forums, causing an entire shutdown. Some members were worried that the new members were like a virus, killing one host only to move onto another.

 

In any case, why dont we consolidate ALL the new members' intros here? Who are you? Tell us about yourself. Some basic info to get to know you. That way we can see who comes from where and hopefully we can all be friends. I'll start it off:

 

My name is David. I am a college student currently living in Nashville (Vanderbilt), who misses Boston very much and thinks mlb.tv sucks. My favorite movie is Dr. Strangelove and my favorite band is Wilco. Apparently I have very nice fingernails.

I'm Wells and I am one of the former Herald guys... The Red Sox are my favorite baseball team and I am also Pats fan...

 

I am glad that this forum was found.. lot of commotion involving the BH Shutdown and we're mostly Sox fans that enjoy having a place to communicate with each other...

 

I hate getting off on the wrong foot and would like to be one of the first from the BH to say "Wazzzup?" and hopefully the Talksox guys and former BHers can find a happy medium..

One more ex-herald postah checking in....Hammer is my name. That nickname was given to me along time ago in another life time...Very happy to join the forum and have lived,loved and died with the sox since #9 patroled left field...I hope some of the other regulars that really love our sox from the BH will find their way here....

Don't worry, the water will settle, I just hope that your reception hasn't scared any of you off because it's always nice to get some fresh perspective (as long as it agrees with TOS). Here's a little about me. I'm Keith, a student of Electrical Engineering (at UCF) and veteran of the USMC (teuffelhunden!). I have 1.5 kids (I'm not bullshitting you, my wife is 6 months pregnant), no dogs, and a love affair with baseball. I see lots of VA in the member locations; I was born and raised in Fairfax County. I have a brother who lives in Fairfax but we grew up in the Tidewater area, Hampton to be specific. I've been in Richmond almost 20 years.

I assure all here that none of the individuals who have joined in the past few days had anything to do at all with the demise of the now defunct BH forum. In fact, most fought the good fight to prevent that from happening and to rid the site of the most hated trolls. It was a valiant but losing battle. We all have divergent opinions, personalities and perspective. I have been a Sox fan for over 30 years and enjoy discussing them with others who are as insane as I am about the team that plays in The Little Bandbox.

 

One very good thing about the BH forum was a general acceptance and tolerance for new members unless they deliberately were there to incite. I understand the initial resistance to the mass invasion. Ultimately, we are all passionate about the same thing.

 

Thanks for the opportunity to post here. Is it February yet?
