They only make big league projections. Its a big league book. So no.

But yeah, how can they make pitcher projections for wins? I hope no one takes this as gospel because there is no mathematical formula for how a game will unfold. I think thats a little weird.

his calculations are based on big league stats.. papelbon didn't have enough big league stats while james was putting together this book.

Holy god man, I'm as happy as the next guy about Tavarez but he must be the ugliest man this side of sloth from the goonies. Please don't make me look at that long.

Yeah that threw me too, Shoppach didn't have much ML experience at all. I think it might be because Papelbons role is undetermined.

True but Shoppach's role has yet to be determined as well. This spring training we will see Shoppahc, Huckaby and Flaherty contend to see who can catch Wake better.

Most of these systems work on a weighting system, such as 3-2-1. Meaning one year ago is 3 times more relevant than 3 years ago, and two years ago is 2 times more relevant than 3 years ago. That explains why Cora and Lowell have such pessimistic, IMO, numbers for next year. I expect both of them to be better than those numbers since they are coming off down years, and a bounce back isn't unrealistic.

Huckaby and Flaherty are complete drek. They are only there in case Shoppach totally shits the bed, otherwise the job is his.

Red Sox Rooter, been off this board for awhile. Glad to be back on. Don't you worry about Mark Loretta. This is guy is the real deal; a good hitter, sharp in the field, works the count and is a very intelligent ballplayer. Besides he's all class. I know him personally. After this season we are going to want him to stay for awhile. Have a good day.

The predictions weren't made by James himself as he doesn't believe in predictions. They were made by two of the men who helped him write the handbook and whom work for him.

The more I see James' projections the more I think he's full of crap. Shoppach with 17 Major League homers? The guy couldn't even get out of his own way in his minimal attempts at hitting in the Bigs last season. In fact, he probably ruined Boston's chances of trading him because his value kept going down with every fruitless at bat. If this Crisp trade goes through, and with the better pitching we will have, how on earth can we win less games than last year? Pure bs!!!! Try again James.
