How insane is that? 30 of the points alone came in the third quarter. What is that, something like two points a minute? The discussion kind of came up on WEEI this morning (when Damon wasn't discussed), so I pose a question: Which team has a better shot at the playoffs or a championship -- the Celtics or Lakers?

Its gotta be the Celtics. My reason is the Celtics have 2 guys that average about 25 PPG with Paul Pierce and Ricky Davis. The Lakers have one guy that averages about 35 PPG with Kobe, even though they have the better coach. Plus the Celtics are in a much weaker divison than the Lakers and on Christmas Day, the Lakers are going down.

Plus I think Kobe scoring 62 was a fluke, 22 of his 62 points were on free throws and he shot the ball 31 times. In that game he could have scored a possible 87 points if he had made all his shots and all his free throws. Granted Kobe is a great player, but he should had scored that many shooting the ball 31 times in one game with 25 free throw attempts. He also was the only player on his team in double digits for points and its not like he helped anyone get in double digits with his goose egg number of assists. The fact of the matter is that he's a ball hog and Shaq and the rest off the Heat are gonna lay down a beatdown come Christmas Day.

Listen Kobe isn't my most favorite player in the league, but he scored 62 and his team won by 22 so what's the problem? If he came to play for the Celtics and he scored 62 and we won by 22 we would all be pumped up.

Okay, so your saying Kobe was supposed to make every 31 shot attempts? what is he magic?seriously you cant expect to make every single shot attempt. I dont think the Heat will simply walk all over the Lakers like they did last year closer to the end of the season. But i do remember the Lakers making the Heat beat them in overtime. I personally think the Lakers will win on Christmas.

Kobe is a ballhog. But to his defense he is still an amazing talent, and deserves to take every one of the shots he takes. Also to his defense 22 of the 62 were free throws...

Alright, good. It's nice seeing some more Laker haters.

lol, been a Lakers hater ever since they traded Superman.

I wanted to see him take a run at Wilt, they should have let him go at it in the 4th.

He'd have to rape a heckuva lot more women to make a run at Wilt.

Well, scoring 62 points, you wouldn't expect him to have any assists as well. That's magic.

His zero assists did not suprise me.

That being said...

Lakers will be absolutely steamrolled on Christmas.

Did you see that clip on SportsCenter where they went around asking the Lakers who they thought was the number 1 team in LA? It was funny. All the Lakers players were so convinced that the Clippers were still the second-tier LA team

I dont think they will. I mean you dont have to have an assist and watch your team get stemrolled if thats what your saying. You have a PG for that. yes passing is good, but how the heck are you going to pass, and watch your teammate miss? If you would actually watch, it's sad to say Kwame Brown has missed alot of layups, lmao! but serioulsy

Kobe is the PG, SG, SF, PF, and C. He's also the head coach, assistant coach, GM, and owner. What a talented young man.

Not as much as when he was with Shaq. Oh wait, most of Kobe's numbers have gone up since last year. Never mind.

i don't think they'll get 'steamrolled' on x-mas. they may lose, but i think it'll be a good game. if anything the team is better this year than last year and is alot more competitive when they don't beat themselves. last i checked kobe is entering his prime and shaq is already past his. the heat haven't exactly kept up the pace with detroit this season (yes so shaq was injured and out of the lineup..so what?) and it should be a competitve well fought game that'll probably go back and forth.

kobe took over this game after the lakers allowed t-mac to score the game winning lay-up uncontested. he said in multiple interviews he was so angry over that loss that he was going to single-handedly gonna make the next team they play pay for that loss. as far as assists go...big deal, the dude was on fire and feeling it...how many times to players who are on fire keep getting the ball from their teammates. what did you actually expect him to pass up a shot when he was clearly in a zone? c'mon!

Shaq past his prime is AT LEAST 15X better than any center in the NBA, and is STILL the most dominant force in the NBA. You can't say that you would expect the Heat to have the same record that they have now WITH Shaq playing all year. Kobe might have a big game, but his stats will be a wash with D-Wades. And Shaq will be the X-Factor.

Question: Who on the Lakers is gonna guard Shaq.....?

Answer: NO ONE.

um, i dont know but i thought Chris Mihm Guarded Shaq pretty good last year on Christmas day. Your also saying that Dwayne Wade is going to have a better game than Kobe? okay fine we will just have to see. I mean i know you dont like Kobe ,but there is no way you can say Wade will be better.

Yeah, I'd say Mihm did a pretty good job defending Shaq. He averaged 24.5 points vs. the Lakers last year. So that was better than 30-40 points.

As for Dwyane Wade, yes, it is possible for him to have a better game than Kobe.

Can anyone actually blame Kobe for being a "ball hog"? All his teammates are capable of doing are turning the ball over and missing gimme shots. If you ask me, Kobe passes the ball too much. If not for Kobe, this team would be competing with the Hawks for the best odds to win the lottery.

I don't know much about basketball but I do know that is insane when someone can score 62 points in three quarters.
