What would Judas do. :D That's a good one, I might have to get it.

And people didn't "bash" nomar per say. I know I didnt. There's a difference between being TRADED to the cubs and signing as a FREE AGENT with your most hated rivals.

Well you didnt bash Nomar but you would be lying if you said you didnt see the newspapers in boston rip him to shreads on the way out.

true but all ive heard from yankee fans and media is that the "Red sox orgainaztion and all of its fans" bash every player that leaves. Screw everyone who says that, because thats nowhere near the truth.

You can count on a future standing O's for Nomar, Mueller, Pedro, even Doug Mienkevicz, etc. But dont expect one for our former cult hero who said earlier to red sox nation "Theres no way I will go play for the Yankees. The Red Sox is my team, and I wont go and leave just because George was offering top dollar." He lied to all of us and became a member of boston's arch rival team, for that expect a chorus of boos at Fenway Park.

dont say that you yankee fans dont do the same when a well liked player of yours becomes a Red Sox

2004: David Wells enters the mound in a Padres uniform to a raucous standing ovation

Opening Day 2005: David Wells enters the mound with deafening boos and some self-made signs that ESPN had said were too bad to show on national TV

In other words, Mueller and Pedro were just 2 dollar hoes, but Damon was the guy the fans wanted to marry, so it hurts more that he left them at the altar for the rich guy in town who's always bullying people with his money

What like we arent allowed to vent our aggression? Yes I do believe this is a red sox forum site, so laughable to say the least you are surprised about how we feel. Damon was a much loved Sox player who chose to switch sides like recent defectors in Clemens and Boggs.

Plain and simple, this has nothing to do with his contract, I could care less. Its all about him going to the Yankees. So it shouldnt come as a shock at all that most of Red Sox Nation is feeling betrayed at this moment.

He goes anywhere but the Yankees and the posts in the thread describing it are all something to the effect of 'Thanks for your time, Johnny' and other sappy bull s*** like that... the difference is, he signed with the Yankees -- something he said he would never do. It's a slap in the face of the organization, his ex-teammates, and the fans. The same thing happened when Wells joined the Red Sox.

I'm shocked that even you believe your simplification that it's just as soon as he leaves town. It's not that he left town -- check the threads, most of us saw him playing elsewhere next year. It's where he left to, and the fact that he soldout -- he betrayed the fans and team that made him.

No it wasn't the same situation with Wells. The Yankees had already shipped him of to Toronto for the Rocket and after that he was a jourey man. Its not like he just finished playing the Yankees and had to make a decision. The Yankees tossed him around like he was nothing and so he signed with the Sox. We didn't treat Johnny like that, he's just an ******* and went with the money.

Like Riverside said... he pitches in New York as a Padre and he's cheered. The next season, he takes the mound as a member of the Red Sox and he's booed. My point is that it's not about the fact that he left, it's about where he went. In my opinion, that's just about the exact same situation.

How many nice things did Yankee fans have to say about Wells last year? Their excuse for lowering the Boom on Boomer was that he quit in the 2003 WS coming out after 1 inning. They say they were mad at him for that. Quitting like that was unforgiveable. Hmmmm, then why did they cheer him in 2004 when he was with the Padres? I guess they didn't realize that he quit in the 2003 WS until 2005. Hypocrites! You tore him to shreds once he put on the Red Sox uniform. We did n't kill Pedro until he started talking snack after he left, and when Nomar left we were to busy with the hot streak that the Sox went on to bother killing Nomar. Damon wears pinstripes. He is the enemy. We knew his shortcomings while he played for Boston, but we wouldn't tell you Yankee fan chumps. Now, he's on your side, and the bottom line is that in the first two years of his Boston contract, we thought he was way overpaid.

What kind of stupidity is this? Duh, the difference is that the other guys didn't go to the Yankees. Wake up!

seeing this press conference has cemented it for me. Good bye Damon you are nothing but a distant memory and a player I intend on booing every chance I get. Nice hug with Torre and Cashman, by the way you got some brown on your nose

Did Torre cry again? I think this crying habit of his is a sign of senile dementia. The Boss cries all the time too. Good image for someone called "The Boss"

" Some of the players viewed me as a brother, but they know when you cross the line.... I taught them a lot" - Johnny Damon

Like how not to sound like a complete idiot on national TV? This guy might be great at baseball, but I don't know if he could do my 8 year old neighbors homework. He sounded like an utter buffon. Not to say he won't hit well, throwing a stick at something and running is something a lot of people can do, Johnny does it well.

He came back to the Yanks after the Clemens trade as a FA in 2002.

Damon sounds so bad during press conferences. He needs someone to teach him how to speak. He says "um.." every other word. He sounds retarded.

Also, anyone else notice him say that the redsox are "dismantling"

Posted
Damon could use an education. He looks like an ugly cave man except most cavemen can grunt, I'm not sure what damon was trying to do but maybe he should stick to having someone write books for him and stay away from cameras for awhile until he learns "oohh ooohh ahh ahhh" monkey talk.

He mentioned Millar's name, I laughed at that. ;) There would be riots at Fenway if Sox were to resign that declining 1st baseman.

But still, current Sox who have left:

--Bill Mueller was going to leave anyway, whether it be Youk or now Lowell taking over

--Kevin Millar, i said enough

--Edgar Renterria, questionable at first but really the Sox are looking to improve their defense. Hence good bye to Rent and his 30 errors. And we got in return one of the best ranked prospects: a la Marte

--Mike Myers & Chad Bradford, Sox brass want pitchers who can get both lefties and righties out. More easy for Tito to manage that way

--Wade Miller, another surgery, another wait until hes ready to start. He wasnt worth on waiting again.

--Doug Mirabelli, fan favorite and Wake's personal catcher yes. But we got in return a former all star 2nd baseman. Any team would do that trade

Future possibility

--Manny trade is not all that likely. Just specualtion that there is still talks.

--David Wells will be 42 and had recurring knee and ankle problems throughout the season. Plus this will assure Papelbon having a shot at being in the rotation.

--Clement could be traded for a CF, after his lackluster second half combined with the worst start ever by a red sox pitcher in the ALDS round.... that says it right there

--Arroyo Id like to keep around to work out of the pen as long innings and spot starter. But he is enticing for a Jeremy Reed or Coco Crisp. 2005 also saw a series of inconsistent outings.

Whats your lineup right now?? Yeah I would say where good.

You have Flaherty though. Congrats on that signing

If all you're going to do is be a tool, I can guarantee you your stay here will be very short.
