Don't blame Damon, blame ownership.

Blame ownership for not overpaying? Are you kidding? Ownership offered EXACTLY what he should have gotten. When you're making 44 million dollars, is that 8 million really that important? Not to mention all the advertisement and book money he got. I guess playing for people who love you isn't good enough. Half of New York hates him, I'm really excited to see their reaction.

When he is playing in New York and there isn't the atmosphere in the stadium that there is playing in Fenway or the loose feeling in the clubhouse like Boston, Damon will regret it. Alright, Sox, strike back. We will have the better team come 2006. Don't screw anything else up, ownership.

YUCK THE FANKEES.

Why is Sox management running this team like some sort of small market moneyball team? This will be the Rocket revisited without the interim stop in Toronto. All we need is to hear Luchinno say that Damon is in the "Twighlight" of his career.

clemens and damon are two different players. damon has shown he is wearing down while clemens when he left the red sox was completely out of shape and then got in shape. damon will not be that great towards the end of the deal

I'm sure Damon will do well with the bat in NY but defense isn't much better then Bernie

dammm 3 pages ALREADY!!

I was in bed and turned on the radio for a quick second and heard the news and knew i HAD to jump on here...looks like all u guys had me beat.

OK, well as you all know I wasnt pulling to get Damon, I dont like his arm or the fact that he could potentially block Melky. But I ike the fact that he is a leadoff guy. So as long as this doesnt hurt Melky's chances then I dont mind as much. But god forbid if he doesnt hit and that noodle of an arm gets worse then I am goign to hate everybody involved in this deal.

Damon

Jeter

Giambi

Rodriguez

Sheffield

Matsui

Cano

Posada

Bernie/Phillips

Not too bad.

For f***s sake damon was the last guy i expected to take the money and run. Schilling do us all a f***ing favor and throw a high one right at this head.

I understand where you're coming from. But still, don't be that savage.

Watching Clemens come back to Boston, then K'ing his ass will be much more fulfilling.

BTW, I know, I'm just using hopeful wishing.

Hi, new to this board. I'm actually a White Sox fan, and rooted for you guys a couple years ago except for last year. What Damon did was total betrayal in my opinion. At least Pedro went to the Mets. I hate the Yankees as much as you guys. Good luck next year.

Uh, welcome.

this is not going in the wrong direction. the red sox placed a value on johnny damon and stuck to it. when you consider the fact that he has alot of wear and tear on his body plus he has no arm and is already 32 yrs old then 13 mil a season is too much money to commit to him. the team needs to get younger anyways. we will take the 2 draft picks and stockpile the farm system. plus next yr andrew jones becomes a free agent and i also think torri hunter is a free agent too. i want andrew jones anyday over johnny damon.

As I told you a few mimutes ago, multiply how your feeling by 10 and that is how I will be feeling if Roger goes back up there.

I agree, ive expressed all year that I really dont want Damon. I would have preferred someone who could play a solid CF for a year or 2 then let Melky come on up. But this will due I suppose.

The more I think about it, the more I like this. The line-up is sick. Especially the top 3/4 of the order. When everyone's hott, the line-up is going to be torture. Welcome back to the Bronx, Beckett. And I don't like Damon's arm obviously but he is pretty speedy. I'll take it.

Hey thanks. Don't worry, I'm not a troll, I'm a big sports fan and like talking to other fans of other teams. I'm really a White Sox fan, but also root for the Cubs and suffer with their fans when they go through their trials and tribulations. I believe Chicago and Boston are sister cities while New York and LA are the evil empires on opposite coasts.

Too bad about Damon, but time to re-tool. You guys will be fine, but I think ChiSox did get a little stronger. I'm also on cloud 9 about the Bears!

If Clemens comes to the Red Sox, I can assure you, I am going to rub it in all of your faces at how nasty our rotation is.

Zach, you better not rub it in, im going to need therapy if that is the case.

Damon hit .345 in the first half and .285 in the second half with huge dips in all other categories.

The Yankee lineup is officially sick.

CF Damon

SS Jeter

3B Rodriguez

RF Sheffield

LF Matsui

1B Giambi

C Posada

2B Cano

DH Bernie?

If I'm the Yankees, I sign a catcher and DH Jorge. Jorge's contract explodes if he catches like 35 games this year.

We shouldn't take this as too much. Damon doesn't need to be beamed in the head. Just imagining the amount of runners that will score from third against New York because Damon has a weak arm seems funny enough to me.

Really, how much different is that from taking third on Bernie?
