He's on the block, most certainly to be moved from Florida. The Red Sox are said to be interested.

Personally, I loved this guy when he was a significant base stealing threat, but he hasn't been so since 2003. Maybe he's suffered an injury or maybe McKeon doesn't send him as often? For some reason he's just not stealing bases like he used to. Don't know enough about the Marlins or Castillo to say for sure.

He could potentially be a replacement leadoff hitter if Johnny Damon signs elsewhere.

Florida is dismantling. I'm shocked. What's next? Trade Dontrelle?

No they are dumping all sorts of guys but Dontrelle and Cabrera will be the focal points of this team for the future. They will build around those two guys.

I would love to see an infield of Lowell, Renteria, and Castillo. We are talking about some real good defensive players there and I like Castillo's speed. However by trading for Castillo I wonder what that is saying about Pedroia. I really like Dustin Pedroia and I would love to give the kid a shot. He has all the making of a great leader on this team and I'd like to see what he can do. Its very possible he could end up better than Castillo.

The original article that you posted, Els, said that Pedroia would the focal point of any package the Sox would offer. Personally, I think Pedroi can put up the same numbers as Castillo put up last year or close to them THIS SEASON, and he is much younger, cheaper, and has much more potential. I would have liked to see Castillo play next to Renteria while Pedroia was allowed more time to develop, but if acquiring Castillo meant giving up Pedroia, I'm glad we held back.

i also think lo duca will be traded probaly to the mets and pierre traded probaly to the cubs OR yankees.

The 06 Marlins will be worse then the 03 tigers.

I disagree, the '03 Tigers had no one. The '06 Marlins will have two of the best young players in all of baseball, in Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera, both bonifide superstars, and they will carry the team to mediocrity. They will most likely finish at the bottom of the NL East, but they will not lose 119 games.
