yeah try saying the same thing when pierce gets back. obviously a team without their best player is pathetic.

btw anyone see the knicks game last night? f***ing crazy. Delfino hits a game tying three with 5 left in regulation. Frye hits a crazy shot to go into triple OT. Rip first player since MJ I think to get 50 at MSG.

Posted
they're 10-14 with pierce and they were playing a lot better... imo in the east 35 wins is not out of reach providing no one else gets hurt anymore, and doc keeps tony and al with consistent minutes now that wally and perk are back.

agreed

the east is just pitiful

but consider

philly dumped their best player, coming off a 12 game losing streak with the worst road record in the nba and they beat the s*** out of us

i was there.....i couldnt believe what i witnessed

denver beats us tuesday by 15

last nite,the clips,losers of 7 outta8 i think?? beat us by 23

sure

paul pierce can play but whats the point??

dump him for draft picks and lose 60 games and draft well

or

keep him,win 30 and continue down the road of suck

i love green,i think perkins is a player too

telfair will probably be in jail or dead before this contract is up

i like pierce too but the man has never won at any level, including at kansas where he was 1 of 7 nba players on that team that didnt even make the final 4

fish or cut bait

if theyre serious about rebuilding then move pp to a team that has some value

this team is f***ed to tears

i could hear a guy fighting with his girlfriend across the court despite the teenagers behind me discussing their personal lives on cellphones

this was in the middle of a 17-3 philly run

i dont think anyone around me actually paid for their tickets

there was once a time where this team was actually special

Posted

haha i was offered free tickets to the game but didn't take them because i couldn't bear to watch it

i do agree this season is f***ed to s***, but danny ainge is IMO one move away from being a contender next season.

al is playing like everyone expected him to and he will only get better

i admit the play has bene terrible the last three games but this team is terrible without pierce. wally and perk were back but both were rusty and will get better. the clippers are a good team, just underachieved so far this year.

the way allen and jefferson are playing, with pierce back in the mix and wally and telfair bolstering the 2nd unit, IMO this team can make the playoffs, and maybe even win the division, dont forget they're only 2 games back

tank the season? what will draft picks do? we already have the youngest team in the NBA. 9 of the guys on the roster have 3 years or less of experience, so getting picks will only make our biggest weakness, youth, even worse. gerald, allen, and jefferson are all showing they're going to be even better than they're playing now down the road, so why get more?

this team cant get used to losing and if they want any shot at winning in the future it'd be wise of them to use this season to learn how to win games down the stretch.

Posted

well im at a loss too but the experts

(men who generally cant find their asses with either hand)

say this is the deepest draft in years

theres the kid at ohio state who is considered nba ready today

we need a legit big man

we havent had 1 since robert parrish left town

we have 10 6'6-6'8 swingmen and rebounding has been rather awful

so you refused the freebees eh??

i took my dad and kids in,bought them 25.00 steaks at the stockyard and they all wanted to beat the s*** out of me before 930pm due to the misery they witnessed

my dad is 65

at halftime he looks at me and says

THIS IS THE LAST TIME I SEE THIS TEAM LIVE??

I SAW BILL RUSSELLS 1ST GAME

I SAW COUSYS LAST GAME

and now this will be my lasting image of this once fabled franchise

Watch Kevin Durant, Greg Oden, Brendan Wright, or my personal favorite, Hasheem Thabeet play this year.

These guys are oozing with talent, and can be had if the Celtics finish in the 1-6 area.

All 4 of those guys are very very good, and as freshmen you need to remember they may or may not come out.

Oden (the OSU guy you were talking about) is the only one semi NBA ready. He has the body and defensive mindset but his offensive game is still rather raw and his repetoire of low post moves is rather small, as exploited by Florida by Horford and Noah (OVERRATED) last weekend. He's a very humble guy, and I don't believe he will peace it from OSU that quickly.

Durant is a very very good player, but his offensive game is still raw, as is his defense. He will probably come out but he would benefit from another year of college. But this kid is a player the Celtics don't need. He's so similar to Gerald Green (oversized wing with hall of fame offensive potential).

I like Wright a lot but he's too much of a project for the Celtics to wait on. His body isn't ready and isn't as hard of a worker as he could be. Reminds me of a KG type of player, and could get there if he starts to work harder.

Thabeet is another raw guy offensively, but he is the 2nd best shot blocker in the nation behind BC's Sean Williams (this guy is a freak, he can be had next season with a mid first round pick I think). Thabeet reminds me of Motumbo and Ratliff a lot because of his size and shot blocking ability. But offensively, he's basically nonexistant.

All these guys can be had, but IMO with the Celtics pick they have on their own they can get a player that is more ready than any of these guys and will be of much more benefit now than say 3 years down the road. Waiting for Al to come around has been a pain in the ass and I don't think Danny is ready to do that again, especially after locking up Pierce.

Guys I'd like the Celtics to look at are Joakim Noah, Al Horford, Al Thornton, and Kyle Visser, and to a lesser extent Tyler Hansbrough. All (except Hansbrough) are NBA ready big men who are good post defenders and can come into the NBA and be a steady role player and defender off the bench.

Posted
Wait didn't you say Joakim Noah was overrated?

I did say Joakim Noah was overrated, I'm glad you can read. He's overrated because he's IMO not worth a top 5-10 pick like people are saying. He plays with more passion and harder than anyone else while playing solid defense (See: Greg Oden vs. Florida, 2-6 FGs 7 points). He is worth a mid-late first round pick because of his defense and offensive potential. He doesn't have allstar potential, maybe starter potential at best. His offensive game is still raw (yes even as a senior), but he has a big body and long arms which will help him once he gets to the NBA. That potential combinded with defense can give him a mid-first round pick, but teams are drooling over (and overrating) his leadership factor and he's looking at going top 5-10 which IMO he shouldn't.

Offense, careless fouls, bites on shot fakes, not very athletic, nonexistant post moves, below avg mid range shooter, terrible jumpshot form, and hes a tweener. Yes a lot of knocks but there is some untapped potential which may or may not be reached. But I still think he will improve enough upon getting to the NBA enough to be a solid role player/starter. He's a high energy guy, does the small things, which are the biggest things he has working for him right now.

i dont think noah is an nba player to be honest with you despite his hair

oden is raw offensively,no doubt about it

so was pat ewing after 4 years at georgetown

the only man alive who could hold michael jordan under 20 a game??

his coach at carolina,dean smith

consider this

if the balls go our way in the 97 lottery we may have had 2-3 more titles rather than 50 loss seasons under our belts

rick pitino f***ed this franchise to tears and for a long time

chauncey billips is on his way to a hall of fame career and we dumped him for s***

i agree to an extent with the yanks123 guy

learning how to win in the 4th quarter is almost as valuable as putting together the winning rotation of 8 men

almost

we need a center today, tommorow and for the past 15 years we've needed 1'

i like west at guard

if telfair stays clean he can become a player

green perkins and allen are all going places.......some day

put a long armed 7' athlete in the middle who can block shots and start a running game and lastly

get a power forward who can knock somebody 10 rows deep and ass rape his grandmother in the process without remorse...

somebody who isnt a stand up citizen but can rebound and get to the free throw line 10 times a game and loves to play the game

the nba??

i used to live and die with the celts every year but then the triangle offense came to be and the game just became too blaise for me

i'd rather see a blocked shot with a nice outlet than a dunk from the free throw line

this is why i like the college game much better

Posted

I'm with you. I absolutely love NCAA Basketball, moreso than the NBA. The only NBA games I can watch are the Celtics.. I can watch any NCAA game.

IMO The PF that we need that can ass rape his grandma without remorse can be Perkins. He has shown flashes of rebounding of playing with a mean streak, but the kid can't contain it and he gets into foul trouble in seconds.

Ainge has gone a long way at least recovering from the Pitino Massacre with some very very good draft picks. He's made some questionable signings and trades, but he has the team headed in the right direction. IMO if we can flip Wally for an expiring contract, to clear cap room and sign 1-2 veteran guys this offseason, and bring basically the same roster back with those two additions, we can be players in the East. Lets not forget Pierce willed this team to the ECFs just 4-5 years ago with a cast of Antoine Walker, Kenny Anderson, Erick Strickland, Tony Battie, Eric Williams, Vitaly Potapenko, Joe Johnson (boy was it a mistake giving up on him), Rodney Rogers, Walter McCarty, and Tony Delk.

If we can get the vets and Al, Allen, and Gerald continue to come along, this team could be a big player in the East next year. Hopefully Danny doesnt fudge this huge opportunity of Paul Pierce and this developing youth up.

im with ya yanks123

i see more live hoop than any other sport but last week was the 1st pro game ive seen live since 86.

my good friend coaches my highschool team and i see a dozen high school games a year.maybe 4-5 bc//pc games(i saw bc/michigan state a couple weeks ago)

and then i generally find the closest place to see some march madness,be it the garden or albany or worcester

the problem i have with the 1st round is its a long long day and ncaa events dont sell booze....i can only take so much of unc wilmington and western ky before i need to drink hard and fast

ive never seen the final 4 but i did get to see the sweet 16 up in syracuse a couple years back when maryland won it all...

give me an ncaa game all day long and kobe bryant and shaquille and the ron artests of the world can go fist their blind auntie mae's ass

OK so I just had my last straw with Doc Rivers last night...

Gerald played the first 4 minutes, and missed one rotation on the defensive end off of a pick, and Doc decides to sit him. For Gerald he brings in Wally, who proceeds in shooting 3-17, while playing defense worse than I could if I had only one leg. Wally made 15-20 mistakes the whole game, not including all of his misses, these mostly include his bad passes and goofed up defensive assignments. Wally is a good shooter, but IMO he can't play in this league much longer. The league is getting more athletic while he is getting less athletic, he couldn't keep up with anyone he had to defend, from Pietrus to Davis.

Not only is Doc Rivers completely f***ing this team to tears, as Mr Crunchy put it, he doesn't know how to coach. He's down 11 with 4 minutes, left, not completely out of the game yet, he puts in Powe and Ray. He doesn't get Al enough touches on the block. He plays Wally at the wrong times and refuses to take him out when he does things that he'd sit guys like Gerald and Telfair for. Granted he's without his best player, but at least the guy should know how to manage a game. I also have know idea why he continues to play Wally. Its obvious he doesn't fit in, you can't run with him in there because he's a liability, his shooting has been off for a long long time, and he can't play a lick of defense on anyone, aside from Adam Morrison he may be the worst defender in the NBA.

I have no problem with losing, but when we lose the way we do, with coaching mistakes, with Doc taking Gerald out for ONE mistake, for leaving Wally in even though he can't play for his life any more, for not playing Rondo, his 2nd best point guard.

Doc has made maybe 2 smart decisions all year. 1) Letting Delonte start, as it was evident he is much much much better at the point rather than the 2, and 2) Putting Al in the starting lineup too. Thats it, nothing else good has came from Doc.

I hate Glenn Rivers.

And the worst part is that the 2nd decision was basically forced upon him because of injuries. One thing Doc is great at is making diehard fans who stay up to watch the whole game even when it's on the west coast (very rare, there's probably only 2 on talksox) sick to their stomachs after watching his rotations.

This season has been a real roller coaster ride so far because the perspective changes after every win or loss. On one hand, when we lose, we're one game closer to a stacked lottery but when we win, we're only a handful games out of first place. I guess we'll have a better view of things when Pierce returns but until then, this team will be inconsistent at best, winless at worst.

anyone else just see Lebron drain that 85 footer with .1 second left in the third

that guy is a friggen joke

btw, gerald needs to play more minutes than wally

Pretty good game so far, that shot was insane...lebron is immortal.

wally sucked big time tonight, 4-13 shooting, couple turnovers, just didnt look good at all tonight.

however gerald did very well in the minutes he played. im hoping we see more of gerald and less of wally for the rest of the year, since this team is going nowhere anyway

Posted

i was there..

i posted this on a bball forum i post at but figured id post it here too since it goes with the thread

I finally had my last straw with Wally, haha. After the game I stood there and screamed "WALLY YOU f*cking SUCK I f*cking HATE YOU". I can't stand him any more. His shots aren't falling. He doesn't move without the ball. He can't run well. His defense is nonexistant. And especially tongiht, with Gerald playing oh so well. Past Wally, and Doc, who seemed as if he was pulling names out of a hat tonight, I thought the Celtics played great. I would have never thought it would have came down to a last second miss.

Tony and Gerald played GREAT defense on LeBron. In the first quarter Tony was AMAZING denying LeBron of the ball and the Cavs made the adjustment and let LeBron bring it up some and get it to him higher up. But both of these guys played great D on him, and that just goes to show how good LeBron actually is. They were in his face nearly every shot, and he was still drilling them. But them two played great, as did Al who was on a roll on offense, but like you said, couldn't really handle Illgauskus' size.

Delonte played pretty well again, at one point it looked like he aggrivated his back again, but he got back up and gutted it out. Boy do I love that about this kid, he's willing to do anything to play and win.

I also thought Bassy played EXTREMELY well. He ran the game so well, and was very nice offensively.

Tony was so good tonight, that it almost seems unfair that he had to miss that free throw. The kid has worked very very hard and came a long way since his early season stuggles. I respect Tony for that. He stuck with it and is playing well.

That was a gritty game by this team tonight, they played a lot better than I thought they would have and I was really surprised at that. They're scrappy, they fight. I like to see that in such a young team.

Posted

wow tough game tonight, losing the game but more importantly Tony Allen is out for the season. He was having such a great year to. To get hurt trying to dunk after the whistle and have your season ruined just sucks.

also, scals in the hospital for a knee injury, shouldnt be a big lose anyway, but still another body hurt

Posted

i havnt seen the play yet either, i just read about it

so now we have Allen, Pierce, West, Scalabrine, Pierce and Wally out for the friday game leavin Telfair, Gerald, Ray, Rondo as the only guards healthy.

lineup might be telfair, gerald, gomes playing the 3, perkins, al since we only have no true SF/SG other than Gerald

Posted
Dwight Howard is ridiculous. 30 points, 25 rebounds tonight. Six 20-20 games in his career already. I would dare say four or five of them have been this year.
