Free agent Troy Murphy will sign with the Celtics, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Yahoo's Marc Spears reported that Murphy was signing with the Heat, but Stein says Murphy told him personally that Boston is the choice. The Celtics certainly have room for big minutes up front with Kendrick Perkins gone and both O'Neals hobbled, but Murphy hasn't really played since December. His 3-point/rebound upside is worth a speculative add while we see how Doc Rivers wants to play this and what kind of shape Murphy is in. The Celtics will officially announce the move Wednesday.

Mike Bibby will sign with the Heat after he clears waivers Wednesday, a source tells ESPN.com.

Bibby is being courted by several contending teams, but the Heat are the best fit. They are desperate for a point guard that won't get rattled and can actually make an open jump shot when the Big Three are double-teamed. Bibby will eventually ascend to the starting job, but his fantasy value will be capped by a lack of shots and touches. Look for Carlos Arroyo to be handed his walking papers when/if Bibby signs.

Well, I hope Murph gets some PT. Danny trades his starting center for a good player, Jeff Green, but Green played 9 minutes? last game. Doc Rivers said he has to figure out how to use Green. Is he on the same page as Danny? I don't know. Hurry back, Shaq.

 

Players like Bibby and Murphy are going to teams where they figure they can get the most PT. Makes sense.

Murphy's not that great. He can't play center and is a lousy defender. The fact that he's been sitting at home since New Year's doesn't help. Shame Dalembert didn't get bought out (that I know of), he's what we need.

Murphy came into the season out of shape. If he can get into shape, he's a solid player and can average a double double. This is something you want to see coming off your bench.

There was a poll post-game that asked the U.S what was the furthest round the heat would get to. 48 states said the 2nd round. Not even florida was convinced that they would get to the conference finals.
