I'm very scared to see who the Blazers will eventually end up with. They have the most valuable trading piece in the league right now -- Raef Lafrentz's contract (thanks, Dallas!). The strong rumors are Gerald Wallace, Caron Butler, and Richard Jefferson, but Vince Carter's also an option. I don't think it'll be Vince, and I'm really hoping it's not him or Caron.

They also got cash considerations. So what I'm getting out of it is that the Celtics essentially paid the Kings to help them open up a roster spot?

Well, we did get a 2015 heavily protected second rounder out of it.

I'd be the most concerned if they wound up with Wallace. He's the perfect wing complement to Roy. Great defender, fills the stat sheet, can score when called upon.

Yeah, I don't know the specifics of that heavily protected pick, but every article I've read suggests the Celtics ain't getting it. The Kings made about $340k doing the trade... not bad.

As far as getting Raja Bell, the article also suggests the Celtics don't have anything the Bobcats want.

And Gerald Wallace would be scary in Portland because he doesn't have to score to have an impact on the game. Still, though, Caron scares me the most.

This is what sucks, the Celtics probably have the least trade flexibility in the NBA, especially since TA's gone for the regular season.

There's only about one package we can offer anyone: Scal + Giddens + draft pick.

I hope we could land Trenton Hassell with that kind of deal. Doubtful though.

Please, I'm not sure the Nuggets even have draft picks to trade. For whatever reason, the Nuggets hate draft picks... except second round draft picks. They love those. I know of one first rounder they have, and it's the Bobcats future first rounder -- which the Nuggets traded this years (or last years, I don't remember) first round pick to get. When the year of that draft pick finally rolls around, they'll probably trade it.

But the Nuggets have the same issues I'm sure the Celtics have -- very top heavy in regards to contracts. Anyone with a contract that another team may think is worth acquiring is too valuable to the team. It's frustrating, the Nuggets are one of the 5 or 6 best teams in the NBA right now, but I think they need another piece to be a legit contender, and they don't have the means to acquire it -- and they have a lot of young talent, but they don't have the draft picks to acquire young talent to go with it to ensure a future as bright as, say, Portland's appears to be.

edit: Also frustrating, and completely unrelated, 'Melo still gets no respect. This year's literally, like, the fourth time he's been snubbed for the All-Star game. <_ src="//d1mqtyoopj0gsc.cloudfront.net/emoticons/default_laugh.png" alt="">

I put little substance into that rumor. Adrian Wojofjskhdaflkjhrw is a f***ing moron and has seldom gotten something right, end of story.

We don't have the pieces to swap contracts for a guy worth more as much as Bell anyways because Danny Boy is in love with Scalabrine, and probably won't deal him.

I just wanted to say that Devan Harris play from tonight was probably the most absurd play this entire season. And to think that was a game winner. Absolutely incredible. If you haven't seen it, turn on ESPN.

Longest 1.9 seconds ever...

Still an amazing shot, though.

Seeing it again, the 76ers got jobbed.

How so? It's clearly out of his hand

When I saw it the second time it look like the clock started late. Maybe I was wrong. In fact, looking at it again I think I was.

Damn' date=' Johnny Red Kerr and Norm Van Lier die on the same day. Sad day for Bulls fans.[/quote']Yeah, that does suck.

Red died of prostate cancer. I'm guessing Norm died of either a heart attack or stroke.

Evidently, Van Lier (who worked on the Bulls' pre- and postgame shows for Comcast Sports Net Chicago), didn't show up for work so they had the fire department do a well-being check and they found him unresponsive.

We also lost a third well-known local yesterday. James Ward, the longtime food critic for the ABC affiliate, died after a short illness.

If Dwyane Wade can ever key up his defense like LeBron has in the last 2 seasons, like Kobe has, like Pierce has, etc., he can be one of the better 2 way players this league has ever seen.

His 2.2 steals per game is good for 2nd best behind Chris Paul. He ranks 20th in blocks per game and 12th in defensive win shares. Kobe isn't in the top 20 for any defensive category.

Steals and blocks are horrible indicators of defensive efficiency. I'll leave it at that.

Well, since I can't tell you what he's holding opponents to scoring-wise and field goal-wise, I'd say they're the best indicators out there... unless you have something better.

It's not really about numbers. I watch enough of Dwyane to know that he's a mediocre on ball defender and doesn't really help out whatsoever. He's got good hands and can get into passing lanes pretty well, but lets not get over-excited about his defense just because he did a good job anticipating where Salmons was going on that play. I was actually surprised it wasn't called a foul.

PAINS me to say this, but Kobe looks like the frontrunner for MVP right now.

well, not necessarily after last night's debacle, but ya know.

Not even close.

Another monster game from LB James

I know Dwade is having a great season but LB James has to be the MVP at this point

he's averaging 7+ assist and rebound per game on top of his 28PPG
