if I was the Sox I simply would not trade him unless the return was absolutely incredible!

 

He doesn't get p[aid if he holds out and, no matter howmcuh money he already has, he would report at some point!

I don't think Manny is going to hold out on the Sox if they don't trade him. I'm a firm believer that he is going to stay in Boston and that this is just another one of his phases where he cries and cries then wants to stay in Boston. He'll be there in the Spring and we will be seeing him in LF next year.

I don't think he will hold out if he isn't traded, but I think Boston is more fed up with him then he is fed up with Boston. Hes just a whiner, he wants to see that people want him here and reconize his worth, so he cries every now and then gets babied and then plays baseball. I think its time that they seriously shop him and explore all their options, but they'll see its not worth it probably.

A little bit of both. It's more based on the past though Manny does this every year, says he want out of Boston then by the start of the year you don't hear anything else about it.

It does him no good to hold out. What would be the point?? Its not a contract holdout (which seems to never work for players) and all he would do is decrease his trade value to the point...why would anyone want an OF with an attitude problem that refuses to show up...

 

Basically that play would continue to keep him from being traded so this holdout thing....is garbage. He gains nothing out of it and the Sox would just find a replacement until he wised up...not to mention it would make Manny Ramirez look like the bad guy.

That question works both ways since it is in your best interest to see him go. There have been hundreds of players who have threatened hold-outs in the last 10 years, and the overwhelming majority (like 95% or more) have returned to work without their wish being met. If the Sox aren't able to get enough value in return come March, then I'll play the percentages. No matter how airheaded he is, I can't see him leaving $57M and a shot at the Hall on the table.
