Neither one of those guys are ego guys. Pettitte took less money to play at home because he's a big family man. Andy's been my favorite player since he came up, I've followed his career closely and out of anyone, I know a lot about him. He wanted to play in Houston, so that's where he went.

 

Matsui could have gotten a big contract at the start of the year if he wanted to make a fuss, but he said he'll come out and earn his next contract and negotiate at the end of the year. How often do you hear that out of somebody? Definitely not ego people.

That won't surprise me. He's played there before and has been criticized in NY, giving him reason to leave. Plus he wants to close. Boston makes sense for him.

 

Matsui coming to the US only wanted to play for the Yankees, and has no reason to leave. He wants to be here, the Yankees want him here, and they'll pay Hideki. No reason to expect him to be going anywhere.
