One suggestion, You might try early the the season. April or May, the snobs don't want to go in cold, raw weather. I don't know about the Stadium, but it works for Fenway. Especially, on eBay. You're decreasing your chances with a need for 3 tickets. Got for four or two.

Thanks for the advice...will-do..

I'll start looking as soon as the tickets are released..I'll probably shoot for the higher number as I can probably find more people to join us, hopefully I get lucky with eBay as I have with Jets tix in the past.

But I wonder, 26-6, do you think this'll effect the stadium turnout for game??

we hit 4 million last season, do you think we can agagin now that they've raised prices?

Definately a chance, just very unlikely for front row. But yea, take the chances.

Back to my point, is anybody else as mad right now as I am? this is never going to stop, in a few years it will be easier to go to a Knicks game than to a Yankee game. And we all know how hard it is to go to a Knicks game. You practically have to re-finance your house for that.

It's actually really easy to get tier seats. My uncle has connections somehow and he gets me some really good seats, like for the Sept 11th game I was second row back behind the Red Sox dugout and was on tv and got a ball from Wake, all for free. So basically you either need friends in high places or just settle for the birds eye view up top, which I actually don't mind at all.

Its very easy to get tier prices, but since they upped the prices on those a few years back to something like 17 or 18 bucks, id rather just pay big and sit down low. But you will occasionally find me up in tier. (Friend of mine has Tier Season Tickets and if cant go to a game he gives me tickets).

I dont think it will effect the Stadium turnout at all. The Yankees, regardless of price will always draw big (at least I think so, we could always witness the 80's-early 90's again. Which I really wouldnt mind, cheaper tickets  ). What it will effect is my wallet.

What I did last season was buy 2 of those fuji flim packages. It was like 6 games for 80 bucks in the tire reserve section. It was worth it. I got tickets to the Red Sox/Mets/Cubs/Pirates/Tigers and D-Rays games. I ended up going to about 12 games for 170 bucks. You gotta look for the deals on Yankees.com

I think that's the same thing I did. It was in September and they had like 5 tickets for 25 bucks or something like that. I wound up going to almost every home game in September lol. And hey, I got to meet the Ultimate Road Trip Guys a couple times and there's a good chance of catching a foul ball. Not bad.

Yea, every winter they send me the fan and ticket information guide with details regarding all of that stuff.

I wonder what response we can expect from the Yankees to the activity from the Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Mets...

I can see the headlines now, "Steinbrenner Resurrects Mantle; Yankee Hole in CF Filled."

You know he has the money somewhere to do this.

From another message board:

Obviously, the most glaring needs are in CF and the bullpen. However, the bench could use some tweaking as well. Nothing is set in stone, we fans don't even truly know what Cashman has in mind, who he truly has targeted or will target. However, in my mind, I have tried to see how things how Brian probably is seeing them and will guess these scenarios are pretty similar to what he is thinking.

Bullpen:

Bigger names are VERY expensive and risky. Howry and Eyre got a ton of money off of good seasons but Howry is injured and Eyre has never had success in the AL. Ryan wanted to close and $9.5 is a lot of money for a set up man. No way am I paying him Mariano money to setup. So, these are the options.

LHP- Sign Joey Eischen, Mike Myers or Ricardo Rincon or sign lesser names such as Jason Christensen, Alan Embree, Al Leiter, or Kelly Wunsch and let them compete with AAA guys like Matt Smith and Sean Henn. Also gauge the trade market for guys like Steve Kline, Ron Villone, J.C. Romero, and Jeremy Affeldt.

RHP/8th inning guy- Overpay Tom Gordon. Pay closers money for Kyle Farnsworth. See if Julian Tavarez can handle NY. Take a chance on Octavio Dotel on an incentive-laden contract. Wait and see who is non-tendered (Ben Weber, Lance Carter, Danny Kolb). Or sign some lesser FA names such as Rudy Seanez, Shingo Takatsu, Danny Graves, Jim Mecir, Jay Powell, Scott Sullivan, Shigetoshi Hasegawa and let them compete with Jason Anderson, Colter Bean, T.J. Beam, Scott Proctor, and Tanyon Sturtze in spring training.

CF- Overpay for Johnny Damon who has no arm. Sign Brian Giles who is limited in CF. Take a chance on Milton Bradley and his problems. See what Preston Wilson is asking for. Check out trade options such as Brad Wilkerson, Jason Michaels, Corey Patterson, and Endy Chavez. Sign lesser FA names such as Marlon Byrd, Tiki Redman, and Eric Byrnes and let them give Bubba Crosby a run for his money.

Bench- Let Andy Phillips be the backup 1B or sign John Olerud, Travis Lee or J.T. Snow. Or see if Carlos Pena is non-tendered. Let Felix Escalona be the backup middle infielder or see if Chris Woodward, Desi Relaford, Deivi Cruz, Jose Vizcaino or Ramon Martinez is interested in competing for the job. In the outfield, see if Bernie will take a reduced price as a PH/ 4th outfielder or see if Bobby Higginson will take a Spring Training invite or maybe someone like Juan Gonzalez if he is healthy and cheap.

Catcher- could get interesting. Cashman will probably see if he can find a taker for Posada at the winter meetings. If he is not dealt at the meetings, he will most likely be the starting catcher in 2006. If Cashman can move him, he will most likely go after either Ramon Hernandez or Benji Molina. As far as backup catcher, he could sign a veteran like Todd Pratt or Kelly Stinnett. See if one gets non-tendered like Jason LaRue. Or just go with Wil Nieves.

The bottom line is Brian has SO many options and several have domino effects on other moves. THAT is why he is gauging the market and not just throwing out offers like in years past. I am confident fans will like this team come spring training.

good post by that guy...some interesting options there.

I wouldnt mind signing a Takatsu, Hasegawa (ive been saying for a week now that we should get him), Carter, or even Ben Weber. I would love to have him.

Im not too keen on playing Escalona as the primary IF backup. But it works. I never entertained the option of Juan Gonzalez, but wouldnt mind seeing him in Tampa come febuary.

hey yankee fans, good news for you guys. the yankees home opening series is basically a gimme series sweep, the tough Royals ;)

Yankees to open 2006 season on April 3 at Oakland

Host Kansas City on April 11 for 104th home opener

The 26-time-World-Champion New York Yankees will open the 2006 season on Monday, April 3rd vs. the Oakland A's at McAfee Coliseum. They will host the Kansas City Royals at their 104th home opener on April 11th at 1:05 p.m. at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees' 81-game home schedule will feature three appearances each by American-League-East opponents Baltimore (9 games), Boston (10 games), Tampa Bay (9 games) and Toronto (9 games) as well as inter-league series vs. three National-League-East opponents. The Yankees will host the Florida Marlins on June 23-24-25, the Atlanta Braves on June 26-27-28 and the New York Mets on June 30 and July 1-2. They will play the Mets at Shea Stadium on May 19-20-21, the Washington Nationals at RFK Stadium on June 16-17-18 and the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on June 20-21-22.

Tickets for all 2006 regular-season home games will go on sale Friday, December 16th, at the Advance Ticket Windows at Yankee Stadium from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (The Stadium ticket windows will then be open from Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) Tickets may also be purchased at all area Ticketmaster outlets; by phone-through Ticketmaster-at (212) 307-1212 (or check local listing); via the internet at http://www.yankees.com; and at all Yankees Clubhouse Shops.

For the 2006 regular season, over 30,000 seats-fifty-five percent of Yankee Stadium's capacity-will have NO price increase. Approximately 3,000 seats (six percent of the Stadium capacity) will have only a $2.00 increase, and approximately 16,000 seats (twenty-nine percent of the Stadium capacity) will have a $5.00 increase for 2006.

"Yankees fans make our organization what it is," said New York Yankees Chief Operating Officer Lonn Trost. "We feel that not raising prices on over 30,000 seats in Yankee Stadium for 2006, coupled with various discount programs, reflects our commitment to maintaining a ticket pricing structure that appeals to a substantial portion of our fan base."

The Yankees have yet to make John Flaherty an offer, and the New York Post believes he could leave for St. Louis, Philadelphia or Washington.

He must not be ready for reitrement yet. If Flaherty goes, the Yankees could try to sign Todd Pratt

Im tellin ya man, the Yankees need to call the Diamondbaks about Robby Hammock. This guy and RJ are extremely close, and hes young enough and has enough potential to possibly become a very good catcher in a few years. He missed the entire MLB Season last year (Played 11 Minro League Games) due to injury, so should come pretty cheap.

I dont know why nobody thinks this is a good idea. I called XM Radio's night show a few weeks back and the producer laughed at me when I told him this. And when I got on the air, the host didnt think it was a bad idea, but he also didnt think it was a good idea.

The Seibu Lions will allow right-handed reliever Shinji Mori to make a switch to MLB via the posting system, the team announced. Mori, 31, was named the Pacific League's best setup man in 2002 and 2003, but he had a subpar 4.22 ERA last season. It's unclear how much interest there will be in him. The Dodgers, Yankees, and Cardinals have already shown interest.

The agent for free-agent outfielder Brian Giles and Yankees GM Brian Cashman spoke yesterday. No offer was submitted by the Yankees.

Although there might not be an offer on the table, it's believed the Yankees have made it clear they'd be willing to pay Giles up to $33 million over three years. However, it's also suspected that Giles has no real interest in playing in New York and could be using the Yankees to get a better offer from the Dodgers, Cardinals or Mariners.

I highly doubt they will get him unless they trade sheffield fast.

j/w...if we got another Catcher to catch for Randy, and like we wanted to give Cano a day off, would you want to put Jorge at 2nd, If I remember correctly I heard 2nd was the position he always played, and I think he was going to play it when his knees couldn't handle C anymore.

I'd just like to see how he did.

He wouldnt play 2nd to give Cano a day off. We have backup Infielders for that. He did play 2B as a kid and got drafted as a 2B. He converted in the minors. He is more likely to play 1st than 2nd. I do remember though that Michael Kay mentioned that Torre would be willing to play him at 2nd in an emergency situation (multiple injuries in a game, extre extra innings, etc..)

How about Lo Duca as a catcher possibility? He will definately cost more than Hammock, but he, like Hammock, is versatile. He can play 1st, and the outfield. You know how i love versatile players.

How bout both? Robby can be exclusive to Randy Johnson and be a backup utility guy the rest of the time. And then let Lo Duca and Posada platoon at C. I always think it is a good idea to carry 3 catchers, or 3 players who have catching experience. But not 3 players who can only catch, waste of a roster spot.

what does Sheffield have to do with who gets brought in to play CF? Its not like money is an issue.

I think Buster Olney wrote that if the Yankees picked up Giles and were playing him in Center it would be to move in to replace sheffield in the long term. He also said that would make sheffield mad and he'd become a huge distraction. I don't really think hes right, but that was one member of the media's opinion.

As a sox fan I really hope Giles does not end up in New York.

He could replace Sheffield next year. This is his last year of the contract. At which point we can bring up Melky or sign Andrew Jones or something.

sign andrew jones or something? Gotta love yankee fans that think they have the right and can easily aquire the best players at every position whenever they want. He's signed through 2007.

Is he, I thought he was a Free Agent next year. My mistake.

And if you have ever read my posts here, im not usually like that. Personally I wouldnt want Andrew Jones, I would prefer Melky. I was using him as an example of us going out to get a CFer because I didnt know who else was on the market next year.

How about you guys? You guys think you're entitled to anyone you want. Sox fans were talking about Konerko in August. C'mon now. I remember in the "Still We Believe" movie about the 2003 Sox season, there was a clip of Theo adressing a group of fans and saying something like "well come the trade deadline we should be able to get Randy Johnson, Bartolo Colon, or Javier Vasquez, etc..". Even your GM acted like that. Dont throw stones if you live in a glass house pal.

Foxsports: The Phillies have emerged as the most aggressive suitor for free-agent reliever Tom Gordon, viewing him as a potential closer if Billy Wagner departs or as a setup man if Wagner returns, FOXSports.com has learned. Gordon, 38, has spent the past two seasons as Mariano Rivera's setup man with the Yankees, and might prefer to sign with a team that would allow him to close. He continues to draw interest from the Yankees, Red Sox and Guardians, and also could be a possibility for the Mets, Braves and Diamondbacks.

The Phillies were one of several teams interested in free-agent left-hander B.J. Ryan, who has agreed to a heavily front-loaded, five-year, $47 million contract with the Blue Jays. Wagner now figures to end up with at least a four-year deal that likely would exceed $40 million. A pre-emptive strike on Gordon would serve a dual purpose, potentially enticing Wagner to return while protecting the Phillies if Wagner departs. Gordon also would cost less than Wagner, creating flexibility for the addition of a starting pitcher.

Yes, I've read plenty of your posts and they are usually well thought out and dont contain the arrogance you see out of many Yankee fans. Most Sox fans talking about Konerko were talking about how they'd like to get him. I don't believe they were assuming he was ours if we wanted him. I aslo find it hard to believe Theo would have said the things you say he did because I think they aren't allowed to comment on specific players under contract for another team like that.

Thats what I thought too about Theo. Rent the movie though and you will see.
