He's gotta give a run up here and there, no ones perfect, His slider is great but it wasnt on today, i dont really mind that he gave the homer up, Im just glad Francona decided to get him working to see what he can do, my bet is he would make a better closer than Timlin, unfortunetly, he isn't eligible for the Post Season

The kid is a bonified stud. He's got nasty stuff and just needs to pin point his location. Once he masters his location, he will be lights out.

every major league pitcher gives up a HR now and then. There is no reason to doubt this kid because of one mistake.

I have complaint faith that this kid will be a great major league pitcher. Him and Papelbon are the real deal. I, for one, am very excited to see these two guys for years to come.

Jonathan Papelbon gave up a two run home run a couple of games ago, look what he has done since. I'm not the least bit worried about them.

Manny Delcarmen was lights out the other night. They are kids, they may fail but will get right back on the bicycle, even if they have a skinned knee.

A little nurturing by Tek and they will go get em next time.

Growing pains. Everyone has to go through them. Paps, MDC, and Hansen are all going to be big time performers for this team in the future.

I've seen enough to know he will be awesome....wow did he make Matos look stupid at the plate. Yeah Mora took advantage but my guess was something obviously didn't go right with that pitch. I think it was supposed to be up but its certainly nothing to worry about. He has some serious heat and he looked fine after the game. I would kinda like to see Tito get him back on the mound again quickly to keep him going. Something tells me the more comfortable he gets...the more dominating he will be. Tito still needs to wait for the right time to use him so mostly I want the Sox to get some runs. Huge win today though....you need those kinda wins and its nice to not be on the other side. Besides Hansen...Clement finally looked a little better just very wild....at least he didn't leave anything over the plate.

Yeah, Hansen looked fine today. A weak ass infield hit and a shot by a pretty good major league hitter on a decent pitch. I say use him again ASAP to get his head back on straight. If we could have Hansen, Papelbon and Timlin for 7,8,9 we can rest the starters a little bit--or let them throw their hearts out for 6-7.

I'm very suprised no one took this guy, even if Borass was his agent, looking at his talent and stuff should be enough for any team to want to sign him. He's deff the Sox closer for years to come.

Well the Yankees and Mets are the only other teams who can really shell out the big bucks other than you guys, and Omar had a serious boner for Pelfrey and the Yanks refuse to give major league contracts to draft picks. The D-Backs had showed interest but Justin Upton has a higher ceiling.

Saturday's game is a perfect example of why there are minor leagues and coaches in pro ball. This kid may bring gas, but he needs a second pitch, and he needs to build his strength. When he got the so called "dead arm" three weeks ago after less than half a season in pro ball, the club should have sent him home for the winter. Unfortunately the situation is so desperate, he jumps from college ball to double A to the big leagues in a matter of months to save a terrible bullpen.

that was one of the best posts I have read on here--certainly the most objective.

these guys are going to have trouble understanding what you're saying, but for my money you hitthe nail on the head. Blind faith, delusional thinking based on desperation already has this kid and hanley dusting off plaques at cooperstown, but it takes time and coaching....there have been a lot of flame throwers who have come and gone because they never learned how to pitch. so before the ticker tape parade begins we'll jutst have to see what happens--- for now, it's all we got...

You can say all you want about coaching and what not but the fact is the kid has better stuff than most others in the bullpen. He will obviously be better down the road but for right now he may be what we need to get through the rest of the season. I'm not giving him the hall of fame by any means....the fact is our bullpen is weak and even a young, inexperienced, not reached his full potential Craig Hansen is better than most options. He is a strikeout pitcher and thats something the Sox don't have a lot of. Now when something like this occurs you have to wonder will the kid be the same if he gets roughed up a little bit. I think this is why he was labeled "most prepared for the MLB" because of his attitude and mental understanding of the game.
