Its becoming evident to me, and Im sure a number of people that several players in the offense have for some reason been in a slump this key pennant push. Something Papa Jack needs to notice and get them swinging correctly right away...

Watching Tek's avrage drop dramatically was a definite sign. How can a solid .300 hitter fall to the .280s so quickly? And its not the pitching thats stumping us, we're still winning a decent amount of the games we should (granted we've slipped in the standings some, but nevertheless..). I guess now, a victory isnt as dramatic as it used to be. We're winning by smaller margins. I guess we can do this for now since our pitching has been on fire..making up for our lame bats, but still, what's happened to our best come-from-behind team?

What'd I tell you about Rent? I don't think Youk should count given his limited time. Nixon has been quiet, but has a couple big hits. But of course, the key, as always, is Ortiz who again is coming up in the clutch. I say we dub him 'Mr. Last Third of the Game.'

Well there's really no need to put Millar in the OF, because unless I'm mistake Johnny will be back in the lineup tonight so our OF is healthy.

As far as the slummps go ... I'm only mildly concerned. There is a bright side to these guys slumping, and it's that atleast they're not doing it in the playoffs. Look this offense is way too good to just suddenly fall off the map, so I think we just need to give it a few more games and we'll turn it around.

and what'd i say to you, that no one cares, especially me, what you think about him

of course you'll just pass off that Rent is coming off of a great offensive month of August

Yeah, one good month riverside. ONE. Almost every player in the majors has at least one good month. When he puts together a few good month, or a .300 BA or comes up big in the playoffs then maybe I'll warm up to him a little.

I'm sure the board we'll feel all warm and cozy about that.

obviously you go off assumptions again and say that he just had one good month, again you are wrong

May: .354 avg, 4 Doubles, Triple, 2 Hrs, 12 RBIs, 16 Runs, 6 Walks, 2 SBs

July: .274 avg, 3 Doubles, 5 RBIs, 17 Runs, 16 Walks, 2 SBs

August: .342 avg, 13 Doubles, HR, 20 RBIs, 21 Runs, SB

Yeah 12 RBIs with a .354 BA at the top of the order is really impressive. You get the same production out of Mueller and he's not getting 10 mil a year. Mueller's got a +.300 BA and a chance at a Gold Glove and is getting either underpaid or deserved pay. Renteria is producing worse than Mueller and getting overpaid. Not worth it.

The Sox have also run into a string of pitchers that give them trouble. Guys like like McCarthy, Byrd, Small and now Blanton. Alot of off speed, breaking pitches seems to now have everyone's timing off. Even worse is that our slumping hitters are falling into first pitch swinging and not working into deep hitter counts.

Bradford and Myers are 1-out guys (sometimes 2). Their snapshot ERA will look like a roller coaster if you plotted it on a graph.

i know that dude, ill ask you next time if i can post stats

Take it easy. I'm not trying to pick a fight, but many people overreact to LOOGY and ROOGY high ERA's. Those numbers will fluctuate dramatically due to the lack of IP's. That's all I'm saying.

Isn't it bad when Millar and a hurting Damon are keeping this team in line? Yes.

Also, Tek gets a pass. The man has to deal with so much I'm surprised he hits as well he does. Catchers don't generally have high offensive numbers as it is. And he deserves some days off in a row, I feel.

Posted
I like your idea of placing Graffanino in the #2 spot. I'm not sure Tito would make that move at this point but he should consider it. Not a great offensive performance by any means over that series. I would actually send Reneria down to the #9 spot cause after him would be a lefty Johnny D. His OBP is pretty bad but Graffanino has the same OBP as Damon. Would be nice to get more guys on base before the big guys

there is so far suddenly sunglight creeping through the rain clouds, tek and trot breaking out big from their slumps last night and hope to see this good fortune continue, now just like to see edgar do what he had done last month

Whoa... Id say Mueller has cause for concern... 1 RBI? Come on. Damon and Millar should be in the middle as well, they arent really carrying the team. Pretty much only Ortiz is carrying the team though.
