Are you people kidding me ?!!?

So some of you are in favor of giving guys like Ortiz, Nixon and Olerud rests!!! Since when do we rest our best players against the Yankees especially since the Yankees are now just three games out of first!

Yes I am in favor of resting Ortiz, Nixon and Olerud (all lefties) when the starting pither that day picthes lefties unbelieveably tough.

Randy Johnsons BAA left handed hitters is .199 with 1 home run. In the 117 left handed batters that Randy has faced this year only 29 of them have got hits. So yes I generally think it's a good idea to sit the lefties in that situation.

Sizzlin,

Do you really think that having Kapler and Youkallis and Millar in the lineup is going to provide EXPLOSIVE power?

Irish Jay, have you looked at what Millar has done in the past several weeks. Note: Olerud cant start in consecutive days because of his legs arent what they were in the past!!! And also Kapler was going to start anyway in center field because Damon right now cant throw a ball without his arm being in pain, if you actually payed attention to what is going on.

Blaming the manager for a loss is a relatively easy and safe

way to convince people that you know something about the game.

There is no statistic for managers other then wins and losses.

The Red Sox are W-83 L-59 a 585 Winning Percentage.

Going strictly by percentage, That alone would make Tito a winning manager.

Baseball is a game of statistics/numbers, If the Red Sox win the East by

only 1 game you would still have to consider Tito a winning manager (seeing

as how all teams start at 0 in a 162 game season)

The Playoffs and World Series are a second season.

“Throughout the playoffs Francona was consulting with them, especially with Brad Mills who was the

real brain, on almost every decision.” Correct me if I’m wrong?......But, I was always under the

impression that, Consulting with your staff as a manager was the correct thing to do, I don’t give a rats

ass if he consulted with Brad Mills or Brad Pitt or The Ghost of Elvis, They got the job done.

I’ll take a manager any day that won’t let his ego come before his team. For a man in the spotlight to

publicly come out and say “I Don’t Know” isn’t dumb or stupid..... it’s Honorable

“School to learn baseball” Would that be? Sparky Anderson U, Connie Mack Tech, Lou Gehrig Prep?

Tito has been around baseball from day one, His dad was a ball player....remember? Then again maybe

you don’t? Maybe we’re not watching the same Terry Francona? But, I’ve never seen Terry Francona

The Manager of The Boston Red Sox hide behind anyone, I’ve heard him say, He was wrong, I’ve

seen him, Take blame, He’s a stand up guy....That’s good enough in my book.

Actually you're post about how dominant RJ was is what made him go off topic.

Umm, I didn't make him do anything. He went off topic on his own free will.

My point was that Johnson didn't give up any runs, so whatever other lineup was put out there couldn't have done any worse. However, I think it's unfair to criticize Francona in this instance and just have to tip the cap to a great performance by Johnson.

My post was about Francona's managing (in response to the topic 'Francona Blows This one!') His post was about how Wakefield was better than Randy Johnson today and Jason Giambi was on steroids. What the f*** does that have to do with Francona?

So you think Ortiz Olerud and Nixon (who can't hit normal lefties let alone RJ) would have done any better? RJ .199 BAA for lefties, Francona didn't blow that one, he did the right thing that any sane manager would have done with a lefty like RJ on the hill, the offense just didn't produce, bottom line. Ortiz wouldn't have hit him, Olerud wouldn't have hit him, and Nixon sure as hell wouldn't have hit him.

OK, it's the second full week of September and wouldn't you think that now is the time for the Red Sox to get serious. Giving key players days off should only be in the case of an injury. To put other than your best players on the field at this point in the season is unexcusable. Management doesn't shell out those big bucks to have their best players sit on the bench during a tight division race. Are you listening Tito?

It's been brought to my attention that there have been several threads bashing Tito, and they've been cluttering a little bit so if you disagree with Tito just put your thoughts in here. If there were any threads I missed don't be afraid to point it out.
