in 2 starts vs. 2 of the worst teams in the MLBs (but tampa bay has a potent lineup) schilling has not been schilling...except for those 5 shutouts innings he threw against tampa bay after giving up 5 in the first 2 innings... i certainly hope that he can come back to schilling form and continue his 5 inning shut out he has going on...oh yeah by the way his next start is against the white sox...best of luck schilling

White sox have slowed down lately, and there hitting isin't too powerful. Hopefully he does good, but i am not going to expect anything.

I wonder what kind of line-up we'll see from the White Sox. I'm hoping a weak one.

They are probably gonna have a bunch of the guys they called up play in it. They are really ahead in the division so they probably don't want to use there guys too much, while the sox need to, so they can gain half a game or whatever.

schilling looked great after teh 2nd inning, he will be fine and I'm confident when we go to New york he will look good there too......good enough for a win

Can the Red Sox win the WS with a Schilling that is just "good enough for a win"? Because at the end of the day its WS or bust no?

I'm not so sure the ChiSox are just gonna lay down for us. The Guardians have been white hot lately and the ChiSox are really slipping. They definatly need to start playing with a purpose.

won 21 of our last 23 at fenway, not worried

I wasnt talking about if you guys would beat him or not. I just want a chance to see one of the better prospects in the league. I had a chnace to watch Felix Hernandez this past week and he was flat out amazing. Of course McCarthy isnt the same prospect but it should be fun to watch. But of course I'll be rooting against the Sox(The Red kind).

i think boston has a pretty good trio of pitchers for the post season, 2 of them with lots of post season experience...even though they're ERAs are between 4-4.5, they all have good winning records...clement is one of them, he's 13-3, on pace to go 15-4...wakefield is another one, with a 14-10 record on pace to go 17-12, 17 wins...thats pretty good...and wells, he's 12-6 on pace to go 14-7...his ERA is also dropping every start now...with those 3 pitchers, hopefully schilling returning to form, an OK bullpen, and the best offense in the MLB...boston could go pretty far in the post season this year

yankees pitching rotation is still questionable at best, johnson has just beat up on royals and tigers after having a bad post all-star break but can he really continue this with an aching back?--Al Leiter, nuff said--Jaret Wright, so far will miss at least one start--Mike Mussina, could miss his next start and maybe even the season

I don't see why we have to discuss the Yankees in every topic on this board. Lets just worry about Schilling and what he's going to do in this next outting.

I really think he's going to be able to build on what he started after the 2nd inning of his last outting. I'd be happy with 6 strong innings with 2 or 3 ER. As long as he isn't struggling with his control(which he hasn't yet) then I'm not going to worry about him. His velocity has been good, not great, and the splitter has been subpar, so if he's able to improve on any of those two in his next outting it will be a huge plus and get him completely back on track.

It was the Royals and the Mariners not the Tigers but anyway....its not the result that has Yankee fans excited about RJ after his past 2 starts. Its the fact that his velocity is back. For most of the season hes been throwing 90-93 MPH. In his last 2 starts its been nothing but 95-97. According to Randy his throwing on the side has gotten him more consistant with his delivery. RJ big problem this season was that he had no drive toward the plate and he wasnt finishing off his delievery. Its been correct thus adding more velocity.

Michael Kay said yesterday that randy was done throwing on the side.

After this start it will be the last time he throws on the side. RJ has never thrown on the side consistantly. I think he said hes thrown on the side about 6 times in the past 10 years. He only does it when his mechanics are screwed up.

Unit was throwing on the side during Small's start, so this is example 56,345,991 of how Michael Kay is an idiot.

The last game was a blessing...a few hours of Yankee baseball without Micheal Kay.

Jon Lieber wasnt in the playoffs until 2004.

Again, if you have that mentality to take on NY, the playoff atmosphere (which is present in every game from now on in our penant race, this is also "pressure" ya know) should not faze you.

Exactly....and how can you get on Randy with a n aching back when David Wells himself has a hsitory of back trouble? If he couldnt get himself loose enough in the heat in Miami in 2003, how will he do it in a big playoff game in the cool weather in Boston? Just food for thought, knowing the Yankees' luck he would have no problems.

Mods it might be a slight exaggeration, but it seems that eventually our NY members ( guests ) turn just about every thread into a Yankees discussion. The majority of which has nothing to do with the thread's topic. It usually results in the same name calling and unsubstantiated bull. As " members " they should post in appropriate forums and show respect for the site that they are in. I beleive for the most part their intelligent contributions are appreciated as it provokes a good interplay of ideas.

Every single post was about Boston until this one.

We don't bring our team into the conversation about 95% of the time the threads get turned. If the topic is brought up mid thread, then we'll defend our position. However, we are hardly changing everything into a Yankee thread.

Hey, I'm not accusing you. But I would expect youself and a number of NY memebers that have been around for awhile to try and steer the discussion back to the topic. As you know, I have repect and value the opinions of the members of this site. I'm not saying who started it in any given instance. It just gets seriously old when the same damn arguments are prevelent in just about every thread. If you or 26-6 or someone else makes a good point, you shouldn't be given a response like you don't know anything cause you're a dumbass Yankee's fan. I mean it like DFA's and pick-ups, its a great move when the Sox do it. But if the Yank's do it they're scrapping the bottom of the barrel. In reality, both teams are looking to fill a need from the available talent that is jermain to their unique situation. I quess what I'm trying to say is that when I go looking to read and discuss a subject named in a thread, I find it annoying as hell in find the same damn " discussion " ( usually by the same people ) yielding no new information, points-of-view, or definative conclusion.
