Well nice to see all the confidence in this thread so far. I'm hoping that Schilling can make some adjustments and atleast throw a strong 6 innings. I'm not expecting him to be lights out, but he has to keep us in the game.

Yeah, like riverside said, its more that Kazmir is facing us than Schilling is pitching. I dont really have confidence going into a game when we face a pitcher that has pitched spectacularly against us every time.

I'm nervous.

Not necessarily because of Kazmir/Schilling. If I get to see them pitch tonight I'll be happy. The weather in Boston is supposed to suck and I'm headed there in an hour or so. Hope the weather cooperates.

I'm worried about this game Kazmir kills us and I really don't tihnk we can expect much in Schilling. I say sit back and hope the Yankees lose.

I too am worried about winning this game. But, I'm just as concerned, if not more, to see any improvement from Schilling. Beause his performance over the next month or beyond has more significant ramifications then the outcome of just one game.

I am worried more about the potential of another bench-clearing brawl that seems to happen at least once a year with these teams. We can ill-afford more injuries or suspensions!

It was a terrible start to the start but a more effective few innings at the end of it.

He certainly doesnt look like the old schilling, but I was very encouraged as he settled down.

Personally, I would havew given him thehook but I am glad tito didnt. It was gutty good win for the team.

I really don't see what was so terrible about this start.

Here's what I wanted before the game ...

... and thats pretty much what he did. Aside from the 2nd inning he pitched a very good game. Again we see his control is there(1 BB ) which is a very good sign. He was hitting 93, and while thats not outstanding, it can definatly get the job done if his other pitches are working for him. He threw 96 pitches which shows that his stamina is begins to return, or is already there.

I can't find a single thing wrong with this outting aside from the 2nd inning. I'm very happy with Schill.

Yanksin2010 ... you have to look at more than the overall line to decide how good of a start someone has.

Unfortunatly I couldn't see the game put looking at the game stats I think it may be a turning point for him. It takes some time and he started getting outs once he settled in. Deffinitly a good sign and thats really all you want to see. Steady improvement is the key to Schilling's success. One thing I can't figure out is the control must be there since he didn't walk anyone...but is still leaving the ball over the plate at times......just a little more late movement and I think he has it back.

Once he and Tek realized that his fastball wasn't zippy enough, he really got the job done with nice breaking stuff and more of a cut fastball at times...it was fun to watch an old pro pull it together...if a young kid gets in a fix like that, he's done for. Funny thing was, by the time the end of the 4th rolled around, there was some new life on his fastball again, too. He got a few up there at 93-94, which is a good sign, I think. Maybe that'll be the gameplan for Schill for a while...start with mostly off speed stuff till he gets truly warmed up and can bring decent heat.

Basically, I think the game was at the very least, an improvement over his first start. As noted he did make adjustments after the 2nd inning and pitched fairly well, giving us a chance to comeback. I hope that this trend of improvement continues, because we really could use him in the stretch drive.
