Without Schilling we never would have gotten past the ALCS last year. So you know what? Let's not call for his head.

Schilling was never billed as an ace closer. It was a temporary move to accomplish two things, get Schilling work to build up his conrol and endurance and buy time to get Foulke back from surgury. What we're seeing is Schilling doing rehab in an unfamilar role. Remember, his problem at the Paw Sox was he felt he didn't have adequate control of all his pitches on a consistent basis. I also want to point out the Sox had ample opportunities to put this game away against an inferior team. So now its, shut down Schilling and make Timlin the closer. I remember a large local group that only recently was saying that Timlin was not a closer and gee don't bring Timlin in with runners on. Well guess what ? That's exactly the situation when you bring in a closer ( not just to get three outs in the nineth ). So stay the course. If you don't think I wasn't extremely pissed about last night's results your are seriously wrong. But I believe in Theo, Tito, Fo, and players to adjuust.

lets not forget recently game 1 against the Rangers, tied 8-8 in the 9th inning Schil worked the 9th & 10th giving up just 1 hit and striking out 2, 2nd strike out bein in the 10 with a runner on 3rd and 2 outs. And just before this slide had been perofrming solid as a closer with 9 saves in 10 opportunities with an ERA of 3.00. Yes I very much agree Sox had more chances to open the score little bit more, like how Roberto grounded into double play when it was bases loaded and 1 out, in all 6 men were left on base--Best pitcher of the game was Timlin with his perfect 1-2-3 inning, i give big props as best hitter going to Cora with 3 RBIs including the 2 run jack, moreso because overlooked he is being a backup. Cora in the last 12 games with the Sox has been hitting .313
