I suppose this will be a lengthy thread...

but in spite of the fact that fat ass got a hit last night he just looks absolutely ridiculously useless at the plate IMO

He always looks useless at the plate. Haha, I bet if we took him off the team, we would have a better record with Petagine/Olerud playing than Millar.

terry is a confusing little man..

I thought we WERE going to see more olerud/penty at first now olerud is back, and then bam its millar.

His at bats are getting more and more anemic.

He grounded into a choice double play last night.

I ain't no hitting coach but he looks completely off balance and not like a guy who is going to be emerging from a season long disasterous slump any time soon...changing his pants, sox and silly ass hairdo's just isnt the solution to his lack of hitting.

how can they let the six hole be a sure out. he did get an rbi last night I'll say that much, which brings his total for the moth to what 3?

this is a team that scores 5+ A GAME, AND THE SIXTH HITTER has contributed 3 rbi's in almost a month--that about says it all.

Don't get me started again on Millar. He's absolutely horrible.

The fact that Terry continues to play him is a disgrace to the organization.

6) Gabe Kapler/Trot Nixon rf

7) Tony Graffanino 2b

I actually think a better lineup would be

Damon

Edgar

Ortiz

Manny

Tek

Petagine/Nixon*

Kapler/Olerud*

Mueller

Graffanino

*These guys would be rotated in and out depending on situations, matchups, etc.

For Example - If Tito chooses Olerud and Nixon to play, put Nixon 6th and Olerud 7th.

I think the 6/7 spot should depend on who is playing. Obviously Petagine and Nixon have a considerable amount more power than Kapler and Olerud, and I think that they would be better suited as 6 hitters rather than 7 hitters. I also think that Tony G serves this team much better as a 9 hitter.

Why do the Red Sox stick with Kevin Millar's lack of production? Sure his average has risen, but not his production. They need to get more out of the first base position, particularly with him being a defensive liability wherever they put him. He does OK on the routine play but his fundamentals, like cut offs and hitting cut-offs is pretty bad. It is charitable to call him a dirt train on the bases, as well. His nick-name should be molasses!

Tim, Westford

Tim, these are clearly not the best of times for Millar. In fact, he is dangerously close to bottoming out. Entering Friday night's game against the Angels, Millar is hitting just .224 this month, with an appalling .258 on-base average and .259 slugging percentage. He's not even walking anymore, drawing just three walks this month. His struggles on the road are well-documented: Millar has 46 hits on the road, only 7 of which have been for extra bases, and no home runs. Baseball is a mental game, and Millar, it would seem, appears to have descended into that stage where you no longer can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It appears that it's reaching the point where Terry Francona may have no choice but to play John Olerud at first on an everyday basis - it's almost inconceivable that Millar will be in the lineup tonight against right-hander John Lackey.
