Just saw this on 7 News

A moment taken out of the Red Sox Damon/Jackson collision, and most recently again with the Red Sox of Edgar Renterria and Manny Ramirez. During a New York Mets day game, Carlos Beltran and Mike Cameron both dove for a ball at same time going full force head to head. Carlos Beltrain got up walking around, but Mike Cameron laid still for several minutes and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

Hope he is ok

Oh wow, not to be down about it or anything, but if they dove into each other head to head, then there's a very strong possibility that Cameron broke his neck. I hope all is well with him, we know first hand how it feels to see one of your best go down on the field :( Get better Mike!!

PS...glad missin_cabrera ain't here. She'd be laughing her ass off right about now.

why do you have a video of K-Horn actually HITTING a ball.

Well it is that or him getting another k or the walk video.

Maybe he logs on so he can remember how to hit

From Fanball:

"Mets outfielder Mike Cameron suffered a broken nose, multiple fractures of both cheekbones, and a slight concussion in a collision with fellow outfielder Carlos Beltran on Thursday, team spokesman Jay Horwitz said. Cameron was taken off the field on a stretcher, his body immobilized, and his neck secure in a brace. He was transported to Mercy Hospital in San Diego, where he underwent two CT scans and will be hospitalized overnight. The team placed him on the disabled list after the game."

I had just picked up Cameron for my fantasy team too. Time to hit the scrap heap.

You're kidding me right? The guy could have killed himself and you're worried about you'r fantasy team. Hate's Renteria, would rather have Cabrera, and is completely insensitive when people get hurt. Missin_Cabrera?

He's a big boy and a big league player, so he hurt his head and broke his nose, he'll be fine and back in time for the playoffs (should the Mets pull out a miracle). He didn't kill himself, so toughen up ladies, Cammy is fine. You all talk like you never broke anything or had a damn concussion.

He could have broken his nose you insensitive prick. Go make fun of Clement for being hit in the head with a line drive. 1 or 2 inches from where it hit he could have been dead. You should be banned for being an insensitive *******, now. You can be banned for being an idiot, by the way.

thats what missin_cabrera was banned for, about clement. dude go ask damon what happened after his collision with his physical and mental state. (1) its best for him to take off the season after that (2) you really dont know anything if you think Mets are making the playoffs because the Braves are going to win the NL East and Astros are going to win the NL Wild Card singlehandedly.

Johnny Damon still feels some effects from that collision, and that was almost 2 years ago. Head and neck injuries can be very serious.

Mike Cameron is an extremely lucky man because he could have very easily been killed or paralyzed by such a collision.

My heart goes out to Mike and his family. Get well soon Cameron!

Anytime you see a collision like that and not have immediate pit in your stomach there's something wrong. This is especially true if you've played sports or engaged in any physical activity and been hurt. I know it always brings back memories for me. Aside from the physical damage, which in this case in considerable, there's the mental aspect. I hope he's able to bounce back, first as a human being, then as a ballplayer. I pray that he recovers without complications.

was also same player who was in the process of coming to Boston in the trade deal for Manny, kind of eerie of how both Manny and now Cameron went through collisions on the field going for a ball in a week's span, though Cam's of course was much worse. Wish the best for him and his family.

Wow! I saw that on TV this morning. Very serious stuff. I hope he will be alright. I know about bad head injuries first hand because my dad fell down the stairs in our house and hit his head hard, and was unconcious. He got released from the hospital 2 days later and everything seems fine, but a like a month or 2 later he had to go back because he had a blood clot in his dead that developed after leaving the hospital. He could of died both times, easily. He still gets headaches sometimes, and this was almost 10 years ago. So that goes to show, Mike Camereon is lucky right now, and hopefully will stay lucky. He could of been dead and still has a chance to die from that.
