I've heard that the Yankees will be building a new stadium. A few years ago I heard rumors that the Red Sox would be moving to a new stadium too. Were these plans put on hold or are the Red Sox going to permanantly stay in Fenway? I hope it is the latter, it is a great park.

theres even plans to build more seats the wrigley field way--take down the dunkin donuts siggn and other billboard in that area, and build extra floors on top of the building behind fenway with 250 extra seats on the roof or so and connecting the two buildings

That's good news, I'm glad they are staying. I understand one reason the Yankees are building the new stadium is that it helps them escape from part of the luxury tax. But I like the history and it will be a shame to see Yankee stadium replaced.

From what I've heard there are problems getting seats in Fenway. I drove up once in September 1984 and saw the Sox play in Fenway, at that time it was easy just to walk up the day of the game and buy a ticket. I'm sure it is not so easy now, probably all the games are sold out just like the Baltimore Ravens games.

well Sox have set a new record for any team since end of 2003, im pretty sure tomorrow's game will be the 200th consecutive sellout. The fan craze that has been here since early 1900s and mix the with the fact Sox won it all last year, just about anybody who likes the Sox want to go to as many games as they can. like ive already been to like 15 games or so since april and still craving more

For the regular season games are there ticket sellers standing outside, is scalping allowed outside the park?

Will there be playoff tickets available to the public or are they all going to season ticket holders, anyone know the plans? I remember the O's had a mail lottery once I think in 1983.

I wish there was a new Fenway but keepinng some of the old great features.

No way! Fenway has WAY too much history to change it after all these years. I don't think there's any way to duplicate the nostalgia that goes along with that stadium...I hope it's there forever....

Ever head of revenue? We have the least seating capacity in the majors. If we had more seats, we have more revenue, more revenue = more money, more seats = cheaper bleacher seats, more revenue = better players.

Everyone would, but when we could sign top free agents, and pay 6$ for bleacher seats like every other park, let's jsut say people would get over it.

dude trust me them spending millions of dollars on renovations on new seating areas and pavillions left and right doesnt bare any logic to several years ahead shelling out an extra $500 million or so on a new park. Im thinking Sox could be playing at Fenway Park up to 2020, and even by that time it will be protected by the historical society, as it turns its 100th bday in 2012

I don't think there are $6 bleacher seats anywhere in baseball, certainly not here in Baltimore. That is impressive that the Red Sox sell out every game, it used to be that way here for awhile about 10 years ago in Camden Yards. The games are more exciting when there are no empty seats, and I suppose that is one advantage of having a smaller park that sells out all the time.

mark my words i bet even when sox do someday opt for like a 50,000 seat stadium, it will still get sold out for the season, no other fans like the red sox have

I totally agree with this assessment. ;)
