i think the bruins have a good chance at the cup. them and philly are going to be 1 and 2 in the East.

Projected Lines---

BRUINS PROJECTED LINES Cap is 39$ million

Age Name salary (possible salary)

28 LW- Brad Isbister ---- 1.102

26 C- (Joe Thorton) ---- 6.5

32 RW- Glen Murray ---- 4.15

Comment: Isbister could well be the next Mike Knuble-type project. He's got the talent to score (22 goals in '99-00) but has not achieved the way some have expected. Sounds a lot like Knuble when he came to Boston.

26 LW- Sergei Samsonov ---- 2.77

34 C- Alexei Zhamnov ---- 4.

21 RW- Patrice Bergeron ---- 646,000

Comment: This seems like a natural combo. With Michael Nylander skating between the two wings in the '03-04 playoffs, the trio was the B's most effective.

30 LW- P.J. Axelsson ---- 1

29 C- Dave Scatchard ---- 2.1

36 RW- Shawn McEachern ---- 1

Comment: With the new rule changes to promote offense, speed will be key and this possible line would certainly have it.

24 LW- (Andy Hilbert) ---- 500,000

22 C- (Brad Boyes) ---- 500,000

36 RW- Tom Fitzgerald ---- 475,000

Comment: The two kids, Boyes and Hilbert, could finally get their chance and would be well-served by Fitzgerald's veteran presence. Don't be surprised if Providence fighter Colton Orr finds a spot at the bottom of the lineup.

37 D- Brian Leetch ---- 4.

32 D- Ian Moran ---- 456,000

Comment: The smart, stay-at-home Moran could complement Leetch well.

26 D- (Nick Boynton) ---- 1.33

30 D- (Hal Gill) ---- 750,000

Comment: This pairing of size and grit is solid.

25 D- Jonathon Girard---- 956,000

22 D- Milan Jurcina ---- Rookie

Comment: This part of the roster is rife with ``what ifs.'' What kind of shape will scrappy Girard be in? What kind of camp will rookies Mark Stuart and Andrew Alberts have? Will another veteran be brought into the mix?

25 G- (Andrew Raycroft) ---- 1

21 G- (Hannu Toivonen) ---- 500,000

Comment: Most observers expect Toivonen to be a franchise goalie some day, possibly soon, and it will be interesting to see if the B's choose to trade him – or even Raycroft – to bring in some more veteran help on defense.

PROVIDENCE ----- 23 Colton Orr (RW), 23 Kris Vernarsky ©, 23 Ivan Huml (LW)

21 Mark Stuart (D), 24 Kevin Dallman (D)

23 Martin Samuelsson, (W), 24 Sergei Zinovjev©, 24 Andrew Alberts (D)

23 Peter Hamerlik (G)

The Bruins have spent like demons and are at the cap ceiling. Problem is they have yet to sign Raycroft, Boynton and Hal Gill. Gm O'Connell said he is resigned to the fact that they will have a tough time signing them.

1 of those guys may get a multiyear deal, but I see them all being signed to 1 year deals since they've got nowhere else to go and the Bruins don't have much cap space. Next year they'll focus on locking Raycroft and Boynton up long term, but Gill becomes an UFA. If he leaves I could care less. To me Hal Gill is the Bruins' Kevin Millar.

Gonchar went to Pittsburgh if I'm not mistaken. It kills me to see Leetchie in Boston, but he'll serve you guys well. He's still got some miles left in his skates.

they'll make the playoffs for sure, but I say 4th or 5th in the conference, ottawa is going to win the division.

I'll say they lose in the 2nd round. philly and ottawa in the eastern conference finals.

Bruins sign defenseman Gill to one-year contract

August 30, 2005

BOSTON (AP) -- Restricted free agent defenseman Hal Gill resigned with the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, agreeing to a one-year contract.

The 30-year-old Gill has 19 goals and 68 assists in seven seasons with the Bruins. He played 31 games for Lukko Rauma in Finland during the recent NHL lockout.

"He is one of our steadiest and most reliable players,'' general manager Mike O'Connell said.

Gill, a Concord native, was Boston's eighth pick in the 1993 NHL draft. He turned pro in 1997 after four years at Providence College.

Bruins open tomorrow night vs. the Canadiens, and yeah I'm pretty pumped for that, because I still hate their f***ing guts.

Yeah... they just lost 2-1 on a questionable penalty call on Tom Fitzgerald. It was a good game though.

Wouldn't be the beginning of a Boston sports season without a loss...<_>

What is hocky? Who are the Briuns? JK

Come on guys don't be so quick to forgive! All those rule changes haven't shown me much as far as increased scoring. I'll give it a year, if the game does in fact improve then I'll start watching next year... maybe. Those bastards didn't care about the fans that really love the game (not me, but you know what I'm saying). They where just worried about the bank accounts.

The best thing hockey fans could do is boycott hocket this season and watch owners. They'll find ways to lower ticket prices, more give aways, ect. They'll also change some more rules to make the game more exciting (aka higher scoring).

NOW LISTEN HERE - I'm not the biggest hockey fan so it will be easy for me to complete this boycott. If you hardcore guys out there just need to watch thats fine I understand. If this was MLB or NFL that did this I would try to boycott, but I would have to watch.

Am I happy hockey is back..? Umm ya I guess, but I'm not over it yet I will have trust issues for a while.

Bruins looking very impressive tonight. 3 goals against one of the top goalies in the league in less than a period in a half, and that is without our 2 top centermen. I have a different feel with this Bruins team than I've had in the last couple of years. It seems like the Bruins teams of the last few years have had more talent up front (Guerin, Allison, Knuble, Rolston etc.) But this team seems to have the right combination of players. Obviously it's very early in the year and the main concern right now is the severeness of Thornton's injury, but I think this team especially with the way Razor is playing has the makings to go deep in the playoffs. Of course as I say this the Panthers score to make it 3-1.

EDIT: f***, I jinxed them.

arod, are you a rangers fan?

About 2 months late on the response, but yes I'm a big Ranger fan. They've impressed me so far, all the losses have been by 1 goal up until the empty netter against Buffalo. Referees robbed us there too, calling off the goal to make it 2-2.

Posted
Yeah, the Rangers are really doing well, especially Henrik Lundqvist. It looks like they won't regret giving up on Jason LaBarbera, who is also doing well in L.A.. And the old Jaromir Jagr is back. He might be having an MVP-type season, although it's way too early to tell.

Hopefully we can put to rest the concept that Kevin Weekes is our top goalie. Lundqvist has looked very, very good in net.

However, we're one injury away to Jagr or King Henrik to really being behind the 8-ball. We'll see how far we can go, could very well be a playoff team. Dominic Moore and Jed Ortmeyer are playing really well on the 4th line and should see more ice time.

Hahahahahah, yeah. I saw that. He went up to Hal in the locker room and asked him if he was ok, and they both agreed it wasnt a malicious hit. Oh well. Bruins suck, thats all that matters really.
Posted
Yeah they sucked ass tonight. Didn't really like how the fans really piled it on Razor tonight, the only goal I really blame him for was the 1st one all of the others he had no chance on and he made some terrific saves in the 1st period. The team just didn't show up tonight something that hasn't happened often over the last month or so.
