Dear Red Sox bullpen,

While I know that sports are part of the entertainment industry, I do not think it is necessary for you to make EVERY game interesting no matter how big a lead the offense has given you. It will be OK with the fans if you get the opponents batters out and make the game a laugher.

Sincerely, Me

Curt had thrown just 12 pitches so still a little shot he could get the chance but moreso Im leaning to Paplebon getting the start for Sunday--And other thoughts, man Tony G is just looking great out there on the field making great diving stops for balls and the double plays he and rent have turned have been nothing but crisp, and hey he did get a hit that later he was able to turn the wheels on and score from first on Minnesota's lackluster defense.

So... someone tell me, give me an update if you will, of what happened in the past week, since Monday, I have been pretty much shut off from everything since then besides the few calls I gave to stocker.

In a nutshell, since Monday....

Monday: Tampa wins in extra innings off Schilling. It sucked

Tuesday, Nixon pulls a muscle in his side and is going to be out for some time. Clement gets nailed up side the head with a liner (and is OK even after I thought he was dead). Sox win in what could be the game of the year in extra innings..

Wednesday Manny refused to play even with Trot hurting and the Sox win anyway.

Thursday - off. I watched the Braves win at Turner Field and got drunk.

Tonight...... win.

I think that's correct, though I'm really drunk and could be wrong :dunno: .

Manny DID NOT refuse to play. Tito told him he had the day off a week before.

i think what the fans are media are all up in arms for that yes Tito gave him the day off but the night of both Trot and Matt getting hurt, Tito said he went up to Manny that same night and said "we are really in a bind here with Trot getting hurt, could you be able to play tomorrow and give you a day off later on" and Manny had told him no that he really needed the day off, which he had spent watching the game from the bench. I just thought it was weird to see him in full uniform, Trot was also sitting on the bench but he had a sweatshirt and jeans on.

im optimistic for tomorrow LA/NY game as Yankees make another experiment with a pitcher that the team really didnt want, Shawn Chacon of the Rockies, a 1-7 record for 2005 with a 4.09 ERA. He has started one game against the Angels and its not so good numbers, only lasted 5 innings giving up 11 runs on 12 hits, that factors into a high 19.80 ERA

Don't let Chacon's numbers fool ya. I think he's got decent stuff, and remember he pitched in Colorado. But he's definatly not the caliber pitcher the Yankees are acustom to in the past few years

besides standing firm at a day off that he spent any way in uniform on the bench, was what couldve been an inning ending double play in the 10th with Manny just jogging over to first base, if the double play actually had gotten both sox runners, the game wouldve been much different--Tampa Bay was once the team everybody could easily roll over, theyve now got the offense and baserunning to counter with and whenever they get quality starting pitching and relief pitchers, really watch out--Sox never really ran away with scoring a lot of runs in the games this past series

MC Hammer: Do you not realize that Manny asked for a day off against the BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL? C'mon.

Yes I understand that but what would you do in his situation. I don't care what job you do if you're told you have a day off you have it set in your mind that you're off that day. Then all of a sudden that day comes and your boss asks you to work. How would you react? You wouldn't wanna work right ... not even if it was something important. You may have to go in because you can't afford to get fired, but Manny wont get fired. If Manny felt he needed the day off then he gets the day off. I think he's earned the right to make that decision.

All in all, a good game. That 3 run catastrophe was one of the funniest things I have ever seen in baseball, and will surely be one of the bottom 10 plays of the year.

MC Hammer, but you have to understand that sometimes you have to give up something for your team. Francona said that in that last 10 inning game against Tampa Bay, Arroyo and Wakefield were getting their spikes and were about to go warm up in the bullpen in case the game had gone on any longer. And while Manny can't play because he doesn't want to, even when the team needs him, everyone else on the team isn't thinking of themselves like this guy is. Schilling pitches on one ankle three times in the postseason, Varitek steps up for other teammates getting in fights with players, even KEVIN MILLAR risks his reputation by standing up for other guys. Do you know how much an OF like Brandon Moss would kill to play one inning in the Bigs, and this guy YEARLY refuses to go out there and PLAY THE FREAKIN' GAME OF BASEBALL in front of the greatest fans in the world. It's stupid and it's selfish. Manny makes $122,000 a game whether he plays or not and to him it's still all about himself. He's like a baby and Francona is babysitting him granting him his every wish.

This sucks for him and his team, love to always see the plays he did on the espn's web gems of the week. hope he gets better.

Hunter injures ankle, heads for DL

Tendon at least strained, possibly torn

If Torii Hunter has a torn tendon, he could miss several weeks of action.

BOSTON -- The struggling Twins' postseason chances took a huge hit during an 8-5 loss Friday night when center fielder and team leader Torii Hunter went on the 15-day disabled list with a strained, and possibly torn, tendon in his left ankle. Hunter was expected to be out of action for at least a couple of weeks, but it could be much longer if the injury was found to be more serious. With two outs in the first inning, Hunter attempted to catch David Ortiz's drive to the deepest part of Fenway Park in center field. As he made a leaping attempt at the ball, the 30-year-old's spike awkwardly caught the fence's padding and turned his ankle.

Television replays showed Hunter, a four-time Gold Glove winner and AL starter in the 2002 All-Star Game, grimace in pain immediately as he fell to the warning track. Ortiz's ball bounced off a railing and back into play for a double. "As soon as I saw him grabbing his ankle, I thought 'Oh no,' " Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "I thought it was broken," Hunter said. "I was trying to tell Jacque (Jones) to check my leg to see if it was broken." Hunter laid on the warning track for several minutes while teammates and trainers rushed to his aid. He was helped into a cart that took him off the field, and Lew Ford took his place in the game.

"It stinks," said Hunter, standing on crutches with a protective boot on his foot after the game. "I knew the dimensions of the field. They're weird and not the same as any other stadium. I should have just held up, but that's not my game. "When you're adrenaline is flowing, you can't think about that. You 're just trying to catch that ball." X-rays revealed no broken bones, but indicated the chance of a small tendon tear. Hunter will remain with the club through the weekend and undergo an MRI exam Monday in Minneapolis. If the MRI confirms a tear, he might have to undergo surgery.

"It was pretty scary," Gardenhire said. "We know it's not good. We'll hope for the best and see how quick we can get him back." A roster move to replace Hunter wasn't announced, but a likely candidate was Michael Ryan. A numbers crunch on the roster forced the club to send the outfielder to Triple-A Rochester on Sunday. Hunter, who had yet to bat in Friday's game, is the club's emotional leader and one of its few offensive weapons this season. He has a team-leading 14 home runs while batting .269 with 50 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. "We can't afford it," Jones said. "Who in this league can afford to lose one of their best players? Especially in the stretch."

The Twins have limped to a 3-6 mark on the current 11-game road trip and have dropped 14 of their last 22 games. They're currently in third place for the American League Wild Card berth after fading behind the White Sox in the AL Central race. Hunter has a penchant for giving up his body to make plays, and has often collided into fences or has dived for balls. More often that not, it seems, he makes the catch and survives with minor bumps and bruises. Not Friday. "I never had an injury like this in my life," Hunter said.

Yeah, I was on my way back from camp, and we were driving through New Jersey and New York, and my friends Dad is a Yankee fan. So he was listening to the game, and they were talking about Torii... gotta suck for him. But it was ok, because the Angles scored 3 runs right after they talked about that. Their radio announcers are much better than the TV ones I might add.

Radio announcers generally are. Must be something to do with the fact that radio stimulates only one of your senses, while television stimulates two.
