I have heard this tossed aroung a good bit on ESPN lately and I really am not happy about it. If this happens, I hate to say it, but the Yankees will win it all. He would solidify their outfield and have a field day at the plate in Yankee Stadium.

What's really funny is that the Yanks can't even move any of their vets for some younger players in the future because they all have enormous contracts. I don't care how much money you have you can't make a team when you have no players to trade. They might as well try to get the best player they can because they're f***ed in a few years anyway.

^ I'm not even going to broach that topic; mainly because I don't follow the minors that much. Duncan's supposed to be one of the best 3B prospects.

Hey you mean flailing around cash doesn't buy as much as it once did?

Developing prospects is a new concept... *cough* Maybe one day Steinbrenner will learn that you can't buy a good house without a solid foundation.

EDIT: ESPN is probably the equivalent to trade rumors, what SI Cover is to athletes' careers.

*shuts up about entire Yanks fiasco* Ca$hman, name is just too ironic

You're joking me right? Unless Griffey can pitch, then there's no way. He helps oh yes but not near enough to say they will win it all. Hell I still don't think they will win the division if they don't go out and get another pitcher.

Yeah I won't say they win anything until this month is over....they have 7 games against the Angels and I would expect the Angels to win at least 4 of those games if not more. They also have to play Minnesota 3 times and one of those is probably against Santana.

Lets see if the Yanks can win half of these games all together

Yankee fans, join in on a round of Kumbaya, oh wait, that's "see", not "sing", silly me.

R.J., Moose, Leiter (get that ERA around 4, and with A-Rod's six-run promise, we'll be fine), and...I'm gonna count Pavano in on this. Wang's TB-evaluated - Wright...hope you'll join us on the face of Yankee planet sometime. So might as well find out if any of the pitching prospects are worth a shot. :dunno:

Just...put Crosby in center or something. What he gives up at the plate, maybe you'll get back in the field, and he's bound to make contact with *something* at one point. Move Bernie to DH and there'll be Giambi playing first, but if they make it to the World Series, he better sure up that defense come NL park time...

No, that's not arrogant thinking, it's wishful! ;)

Duncan may be the top Yankee prospect but how would he compare to other teams top prospects????

scouting reports say he is a cant miss...but i havent seen him live yet.

The Yanks wouldnt have to give the Reds much, and the Reds would obviously take on about half of the contract. The Reds are so desperate to get rid of Griff (despite having a pretty good year) that they would ship him over if we agreed to take half of the salary and send over 2 or 3 mediocre prospects, maybe a Charlie Manning, Coaname Cosme, Kevin Reese deal. Griffey coming to the Yanks has been rumored FOREVER, especially since in recent months he has said he would be willing to come to the Yanks (appearantly throughout his career he's said he would never play for the Yanks because of when his dad played for the Yanks, Billy Martin was an ******* and hated it when the kids were in the clubhouse, but hes recently changed his stance on that saying "i just want a ring"). It makes perfect sense for the Yanks this year, but Griffey doesnt make sense for them down the road, and he still has plenty of time on his contract. They want more of a Johhny Damon type in the years to come, but Griffey would definately fit this year. I could see them getting Griff, and if they got another CF in the offseason, trading him to Seattle (for a s***** package, similar to what they would send to Cinci). But if they dont get someone I can see him sticking around next year then being shipped off after next year (gotta think that by then Melky will be ready to take over full time).

I doubt that they will get Griffey though, too much risk of injury, and doesnt fit the future mold.

btw, i wouldnt mind having Embree, like I said, he'd do a better job than Wayne Franklin or Buddy Groom.

...I would secretly love to have Byrnesie in center. Now, to get the bad stuff outta the way, he does get some bad reads on the ball - and Capt. America sometimes overtracks and misses the ball by three feet - to which, doesn't matter if you're to slow, or to hyper, missing a ball is missing a ball, so really, what does that improve? WELL -

He's certainly exciting to watch? AND, he and A-Rod would totally have stuff in common! (*cough* Varitek and base-running blunders) It's been a staple in the past for New York recruits Oakland players to complete its championship run (ok, so the scouting report on Giambi as the next Reggie Jackson was wrong, but still). <_>

Byrnes I like, I'd love to land him.

FA in 2006; don't know what the Rockies would want in return; might not be as much as Griffey Jr., and Byrnes has upside. He spoke wonderfully of the Yankees organization sometime...can't remember, but he's a clubhouse type of guy, and there'll be no chemistry problems.

Now pic time...

I believe l can fly - AHH!!

LOL - this one always makes me laugh! :D From Zito's photo album.

The Yankees could use a prankster in there!

Yeah...I don't exactly want to know what Zito was referring to in the last part of his caption:

This is [outfielder] Eric Byrnes in the training room. That's an everyday ritual for a lot of players. I'm not one to use powder. I like the moist sensation.

this is going to fit perfectly in the yankee clubhouse. im sure jeter and gay-rod cant waaaaaiiit to get their hands on this guy. that being said he would be a huge upgrade on the playing field from bernie (gramps) williams.

I don't think the Yanks are getting Ken G. they don't wan to take on the contract, and he is injury prone. I heard that they were going after Randy Winn, any of this true?
Posted
i have also heard randy wynn who i think would be the best guy off the list. griffey is one rip of the hammy from being done. seems his power is back if it doesnt happen though/

vegassoxfan: I will not read into subliminal messages...

Oh I'm sure for 20 bucks a month, you can read ESPN Insider trade coverage...

That's A LOT of powder; yeesh Eric, how much do you sweat?! ;)

whats that line for? i got the other two.

sorry yankeedoodle. ill try to be a little less subtle next time.

there is absolutly no shot the yankees will get griffey. they dont hav enough prospects and have no pitching to trade.

Even if this does happen, i dont think it will make a big impact. Griffey will probaly end up injured again and is past his prime.

It's not a shot at you, but how half of ESPN's articles are "Insider" ones that from what I hear, is just rehasing other articles from aroudn the nation - they just slap on a price tag. <_>

There's a thread on NYYFans.com with both Griffey andByrnes. Yes, we do jump on every trading rumor-whim.

Anyone but Bernie, huh? If the ball's gonna drop, I'd rather see Byrnesie with his flaming hair making that dive (be more careful, dear), than just...fall like a hail stone in dead center. Speed, heart, HUSTLE!

Can Womack be made into a package...?

No.no, say it ain't so - if the Rockies actually initaited contact - Byrnes for Henn - and nothing from the Yankee camp? From NY Daily:

Eric Byrnes has been a popular name to link with the Yanks, but they have not had much success in discussions with the Rockies. Colorado offered to send Byrnes and pitcher Shawn Chacon to the Bronx for Scott Proctor and Sean Henn, but the Yankees had no interest. Now that the Yanks have Al Leiter, Chacon isn't even on their radar.

Ok, who's it this time? Cashman or Tampa? :D

...However, this Denver Post article has conflicting information.

The Yankees want Eric Byrnes, and the Cardinals, Astros and Braves represent possible fits. With Byrnes batting cleanup, the Rockies appear less inclined to move him. The Yankees, though, have the prospects to make a deal happen quickly.

^ So it's not that barren. Or maybe the Rockies can't scout. Do I have to choose now? :(
