Hey I will say, we are in some deep s***. A two man rotation lol, Pavano isn't ready, Brown can't pitch and Mays and Redding. Looks bleak, but lets just play the games and see. I call split, we HAVE to win tonights game, and when the Big Unit pitches.

A split is very possible, and I think alot rides on tonights game because if we win tonights game, I can see us winning 3 out of 4 (with the loss being against Johnson). If we lose tonights game, that could give momentum to them and then we could lose 3 out of 4. We can't take May and Redding too lightly. We have to pound those two...

Tonights a huge game in regards to this series, just my opinion though

just updating the batter vs. pitcher stats for tonight's face off of Wells and Redding, with all of sox except for renterria having limited at-bat experience against Redding. Sox will sure need to light fenway tonight with hits as yankees' roster has very good experience against wells. But still David Wells has a great record against the yanks, 17 - 9 record with a nice 3.02 ERA. Ill be there tonight, and so far 10 of the 12 games ive been to this season, sox won, so got a good record for that.

Tim Redding vs:

Mark Bellhorn, 0 for 1, 1K

Alex Cora, 1 for 4 (.250avg) double, 1 RBI

Johnny Damon, 2 for 3 (.667 avg) 1 SB

Kevin Millar, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) double, 1 RBI, 1 walk

Bill Mueller, 2 for 5 (.400 avg) double

Trot Nixon, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) triple, 2 RBI

David Ortiz, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) double, 3 RBI

Manny Ramirez, 1 for 3 (.333 avg)

Edgar Renterria, 5 for 18 (.278 avg) double, 2 walks, 2 strikeouts

Jason Varitek, 1 for 2 (.500 avg)

David Wells vs:

John Flaherty, 3 for 20 (.150 avg) double, 2 RBI, 3 K

Jason Giambi, 6 for 23 (.261 avg) 2 doubles, 1 RBI, 4 walks, 2 Ks

Derek Jeter, 17 for 49 (.347 avg) 2 doubles, 3 HRs, 7 RBIs, 1 walk, 6 Ks, 1 for 2 SBs

Tino Martinez, 6 for 34 (.176 avg) double, 2 RBI, 8 Ks

Hideki Matsui, 3 for 9 (.333 avg) RBI, 2 Ks

Jorge Posada, 8 for 23 (.348 avg) 4 doubles, 3 Ks

Alex Rodriguez, 22 for 66 (.355 avg) 4 doubles, 7 HRs, 17 RBIs, 2 walks, 12 Ks

Gary Sheffield, 6 for 18 (.333 avg) double, HR, 3 RBIs, K

Ruben Sierra, 23 for 66 (.348 avg) 5 doubles, 2 HRs, 10 RBIs, 4 walks, 8 Ks, 3 for 4 SBs

Bernie Williams, 16 for 70 (.229 avg) 2 doubles, 3 HRs, 8 RBIs, 5 walks, 11 Ks, 0 for 2 SBs

Tony Womack, 1 for 7 (.143 avg) walk, K

I'm going to make 2 very important points:

The Red Sox seem to struggle whenever they face a pitcher they've never faced before. This does not bode well for the Redding game, but if May pitches, he was with KC for a while so I'm sure they've faced him.

Last night sucked, but momentum means very little with these two teams. It seems like a majority of the series are split the first two games. In fact, in New York, the Yankees took the first game in a dramatic comeback and we still took the last two. A cause for hope, right?

speaking of pitchers embree must have some photos of tito wearing woman's clothes or sleeping with sheep because there is no other explanation for the fact that they keep using this incrediblably s***** pitcher.

It defies any logic, to keep using a guy who pitches incredibly s***** nearly every time you use him.

Thats exactly how I feel. There is no reason to keep using this f***ing terrible big eared pitcher if all he is going to do is hurt you. Its pretty confusing for me as to why he keeps doing it, but I dont know.

the Sox are looking into Al Leiter for the bullpen....experienced lefty could help out a lot if he can get his control back....then we won't need Embree

I must say if i need to take away any positives....Schilling looked better once he got through Sheff and A-Rod....Bradford made Sheffield looks stupid at the plate....and dare i say...Millar hit the ball for once

Its not that hard to make Sheffield looks stupid. Any time he swings at a breaking ball hes way out in front of it and looks like a fool, unless of course hes sitting on it and can hold back for that split second, then he will crush it. The way to get him out is to just keep him off balance, its that simple.

We talking about this Al Leiter? The one who can't succeed in a pitchers heaven? Doesn't seem like much of an improvement to me. Especially at over $7 million

I think the Marlins would have to eat up most of that contract from what I read....so he wouldn't cost much (not sure how reliable the source is).....but its worth a try I mean how much worse could Leiter be??? at least he has been successful before.....some notes about him this year....

His first inning ERA is 2.81 and he is MUCH better on the road (3.35 ERA) than at home (9.98 ERA)

Haha, yeah, the last thing we need is another bad/old pitcher. I would much prefer testing out some of the youth that we have than waste more money like that.

I was thinking he could replace Halama more than anything....i would prefer to bring up the young guys too....but are any of them lefty???

Jon Lester, the kid who's flat-out dominating AA right now is a lefty.

Another option would be Lenny DiNardo, who's holding his own as a starter in AAA.

you think he is close to coming up though?? wasn't he just promoted or was that Sanchez??

Theo's got to have something up his sleeve. One think he has never been as our GM was passive. He's not afraid to take risks (ala Nomar).

I say desinate Halama and bring up Lester or DiNardo. Give him the next two weeks and see what he's capable of. Try to fill those spots from within. If he absolutely sucks, try to make a move.

It just seems that with Papelbon, Lester, and Declarman dominating the minors ONE of these guys could contribute this year.
