I don't see the Sox going seriously after Wagner, because the price would be so high. They're in love with Ramirez, Pedroia, Papelbon, Lester, and Declarman (our most desirable prospects) and I don't see them making a deal-- unless the Phills are interested in talking about Kelly Shoppach, who seems to be the biggest trading chip for the Sox so far.

I think Shoppach would be one guy the Phils WOULD really want, since we have no catching prospecs. But he is only a B-level prospect and we'd obviously want one of your A-level pitching prospects as well. From what you say, that might price the Sox out.

No way - he's one of our few bright spots this year. He's been lights out since they moved him into the rotation.

The Phils need to rebuild around our young players like Tejada.

Are you going to ask for Chase Utley next? :D

Utley's a Second Baseman right?

He can start over Bellhorn (Just kidding Soxie :D ) But who wouldn't mind having Utley unless your the Texas Rangers...

Millar isn't that bad. Really. There's not a giant difference between last year and this year.

Name a first baseman WORSE than Millar.

Strictly based on performance, I'd take Giambi over Millar in a heartbeat. He's by far surpassed Kevin offensively and his defense isn't crippling. That having been said, at Jason's salary... you can keep him... so I DON'T wish the Sox had him.

I still challenge the folks out there to name one first baseman worse than Kevin Millar.

i just said Giambi's name cause it was funny....

Seriously now...the guy for the Cubs stinks....

119 hits through 84 games, 27 HR, 72 RBI, .378 BA.....whoever this guy is...if he keeps stinking he might get the triple crown....garbage

damnit i hate Millar lol

First basemen worse then Millar? Hmmmm... Not anyone i can think off right now. I don't know. Maybe if my mom got signed to a contract and she played first for them she might have a chance to be worse.

I found one, which makes Millar 29th out of the 30 starting firstbasemen.

Travis Lee of Tampa Bay, although his fielding stats are marginally better.

Stats:

...............AVG......HR.......RBI......SLG.......OBP.........Feilding %

Millar.......264.......4..........32.......368.......342.........991

Lee..........240.......2..........19.......337.......319.........996

I'm impressed. You found one guy who's been even worse than the anemic Millar offensively. My point stands however-- wasting valuable outs on Kevin Millar is not acceptable for a contending team. That being said, why in the hell is Tampa wasting valuable at bats on Travis Lee? Aubrey Huff could easily play first base and they could give a youngster some ABs in the outfield. Oh well.

Why waste service time on Delmon Young when they won't compete this year?

Get his feet wet in the Major Leagues before the team's ready to compete? Although I'd be shocked if they competed next year either, so they've got some time.

NO WAY ARE YOU CRAZY don't get rid of shoppach and youkilis. :thumbdown

Yeah cause Shoppach has done SO MUCH for the Sox in his few starts.

Well, he did get hit by a pitch, so his OBP is like .2

I love Youky Youk but if we get some good closing pitching for him Id be willing to *sniff* see him go.
