oh how i will miss that power hitter of ours with that .197 batting average and 4 RBIs, how can we go on ?? haha, true alex cora is batting 205, but he has had a homerun and stole 6 bases so far this season, improvement over ramon for sure. ironic thing here, this pic was taken during the june 29 game of cleveland vs sox in fenway, with alex cora diving for a grounder to throw out olerud at first. little did he know a week later he'll be calling fenway park his new home and olerud as his teammate ;)

Wow. That's a birilliant move by Theo. I thought he'd have to settle for a bag of slightly used batting practice balls in return for Vazquez (with the Sox of course having to eat some of Vazquez's contract and take on the entire salary of the balls in the deal.) I never dreamed we'd get someone who might even get an at bat in the majors.

Can someone help me out here? Perhaps I'm being ignorant, but how does Cora represent an upgrade over Ramon Vazquez?!? They seem like exactly the same player.

lets do side by side check shall we

Cora is a career .243 hitter (512-for-2,107) with 89 doubles, 23 triples, 28 homers, 181 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 733 major league games. Cora signed as a free agent with the Guardians prior to this season and batted .205 (30-for-146) with five doubles, a triple, a home run, eight RBI and six steals in 49 games for Cleveland.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vazquez is a career .259 hitter (273-for-1,056) with 43 doubles, 11 triples, six homers, 83 RBI, 18 steals and 129 runs scored in 340 major league games with the Mariners (2001), Padres (2002-04) and Red Sox (2005). Vazquez, who was acquired from the Padres December 20, 2004, batted .197 (12-for-61) with a pair of doubles, four RBI and six runs scored in 27 games for the Red Sox this season before being optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket Sunday.

now still to me that is a slight upgrade, plus he also has more defensive edge than vazquez did for us

Thanks. Cora seems to have twice the power, and most of the other numbers are very similar. Obviously, I hope this move works out for the best.

It's too bad about Payton. Also Damon isn't in tonight's lineup so I guess Stern is starting tonight.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY hope the Red Sox don't play Millar in the OF without Payton... they've got to find a replacement quickly!

Now designating Jay looks pretty bad with Damon banged up, and who'll play right field against lefties? It better not be f***ing fatass Millar.

IT is going to be f***ing fatass Millar, sadly enough, unless anyone else sees any other option?

did you people ever think that they would just let nixon play against leftys. geez

I'd like to see that, but they haven't shown confidence in him before in those spots. Right now since Adam Stern is lefthanded (isn't he?), he's not an option to fill in for Nixon vs lefties.
