You know, this game made me think just how valuable Payton is. The guy comes up in the 9th and drills a pitch that would have originally been a double, but because of his heads up baserunning, he got a triple and scored during the next hit. Way to go Jay!

He's playing a lot more of late it seems since his complaint. I'd imagine with Trot and Damon beating themselves up every day, and Manny's hammy's, and Millar's crappiness, we could give Payton more playing time.

 

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Ortiz playing more first-- we could DH Manny and play Payton in left.

I completely agree. Ortiz may be big and slow, but i think its worth the trade-off to have him play at first in order to get Payton at bats and to bench Millar.
