no one posted this but you have all heard the news so I will just repeat it:

Curt Schilling was so upbeat that he offered to begin a minor league rehab assignment by the end of the week, but manager Terry Francona informed him that it is best for him to throw under similar circumstances at least one more time Friday in Philadelphia. If all goes well, it's possible that he could pitch two games in the minors before being activated from the disabled list just before the All-Star break. ``I did not think it could have gone better today,'' Francona said. ``I thought his pitches were crisp and he threw the ball downhill, and he didn't have a boot or a (special stabilizing) shoe or any protective devices. That's a great sign. We're always looking for positives, but it wasn't hard today. It was fun to watch him.'' Schilling, who is expected to throw 85-90 pitches Friday, could barely contain his excitement. ``I wasn't thinking about the ankle; I was thinking about pitching,'' he said. ``It's been a long time since I did that and that's a good feeling.'' Were the Sox in the playoffs right now, Francona said he would have no qualms about using Schilling, but the team wants to make sure that it doesn'trush him back, which could lead to further setbacks.

.....that sounds assuring

What's amazing is that this team is on schedule for 91 wins even without Schilling (I THINK the math is right).

Let's go Schill! Ya big lug.

91.57 wins, actually. So it's almost 92!

Exactly, its something thats often overlooked. We're doing pretty well without our ace. People don't seem to realize this. They complain about Arroyo's inconsistency (although, maybe not so much after tonight's game), wells' weight, etc. When Schill gets back this team will hopefully be unstoppable. We should have had a mindset to "stop the damage" and maintain a respectable record without him. Instead, we've had a good one.

Yeah this is great and Im very excited!

But did anyone see Kevin Youkilis batting against Schilling yesterday...is that what a simulated game is, Ive never known EXACTLY what one is... :dunno:

It's pretty much a rehabbing pitcher pitching as well as he is able to versus either the 25th man on the roster or a prospect trying to hit as well as he can for a specific number of pitches without baserunners. I think case, it was Schilling versus Youkilis for 65 pitches.

When shill comes back i bet arroyo will go to the pen and then Embree will be released. Hopefully a lefty will be brought up too and Vazquez goes on the DL or something. But good to know Schill is coming back soon. i think i heard he is supposed to throw 90 pitches today and then if it is good then he will make 2 rehabs.

Last I heard, he was going to pitch another simulated game on Friday in Philly, then go on 2 rehab starts. SO, he'd need 4 days off (probably) before he could start again. So he could probably start on Tuesday, then again next Sunday, then more rest. I say best case senario Schilling comes back in 2 weeks. That would actually put him back right about on schedule since he's been planning on coming back right before the All Star break. It'd be nice to get him a start and have him available for the Yankees after the break.
