I wouldn't call Philly a s*** town come on. Philly is one of the best sports towns in the world. It rivals Boston and New York. Being a Eagles and Flyers fan myself I can speak the truth on this.

It would be a good sports town if the fans and the media weren't rabidly insane *******s. I've gone to PLENTY of sports events in Philly, and I have never been among a more rude, assholish group of people at any other sports event in my life (and it goes accross sports - hockey, basketball, baseball, football - been there for all of them... though football and hockey are the worst).

I hate Philly - I really do. Great city, lots of history, cool sports teams - its the surly *******s in the town that ruin what COULD be a great sports city.

jeez I bet ya anything that one of the yankee fans here are gonna gloat about the shutout the Guardians just handed us. Wade Miller is on for tonite, which more or less not giving a cushion to fall back on. Wade is a great pitcher no doubt but so far has yet to perform what he did last season before he got injured and had to have surgery. Basically by the 6th inning hes nearing the 100 pitch count mark. Be hoping he gets run support for tonight. What does everybody else think Wade's future as a red sox player, last December had signed a one-year contract

Yeah, I noticed that too, Wade definitely throws a lot of pitches, almost too many you could say. Not really good for our bullpen, but if hes effective its OK I guess...

Nope not gonna gloat about the shutout because now every MLB team has been shutout. Your starter just sucked last night and there's was on is game.

it wasnt bronsons fault at all if not for the failed double play, they wouldnt have scored 3 runs that inning, bronson had to throw 35 pitches in the 4th inning which of course would rough any pitcher up--infielders always have to back up their pitchers on routine plays

Oh just shut the f*** up, do you really believe a team can dominate 162 games? Teams have those days 'cept the Red Sox crappy games come a lot less often then the Yankees.

What are you even doing over here YANKEESRULE? We give you the 'Fights & Crap' section as well as the 'General Baseball Talk' section, isn't that enough? Run along now while real baseball fans talk here. Thanks.

Well if real baseball fans are here then why the hell are you here? Seeing as is your riding this bandwagon as far as it will go. By the way its a free web site and a free country so I'll go to whatever section on this website as I damn well choose.

i wasn't insulting them for once. They just had a bad game. Just like we shut out the Cardinals. Its just how the game is played. Of course I'm happy because we moved a game closer.

Yeah, "riding the bandwagon", that's what I've been doing for the last seven years. I don't think you can be rooting for a team for 5 years then all of a sudden your 5 outs away from the World Series with a decent lead and it's ripped right away from you by your most hated rival. Then you come out the very next season, lose the AL East for the 9th year in a row, I believe, make it to the playoffs and go down 0-3 to the same guys that knocked you out last year... at that point I believe any bandwagon fan would have thrown in the towel. Then, I save up birthday, Christmas, and any other money I work for or receive until I have $200 just so I can watch the Sox games on NESN. I read the Globe on their website most mornings, I went to a game earlier this year, I listen to WEEI online all the time and I have 881 posts on here.... I don't know what else I can do to prove myself.

McGraw, you think we're selfish? You think our pride makes us look bad? Just because our fans are 100 f***ing thousand times better than yours doesn't mean you should hate us :). I used to have respect for you people in PA, but I guess you're representing your whole city, and state. Don't worry, I know people down there aren't all like you.

P.S. Look in your own backyard. Go give T.O. a call and tell him he can feed his family with the money he makes...SELFISH, GREEDY bastard.

Hey long time folks. Have it be noted that I'm not jumping back onto these boards to gloat about the Yankees, seeing that they're playing terrible this year, and they were smacked by Polanco and Bonderman today.

Anyway, I still hold my faith in the Bombers this year. Womack has to be out of the lineup, permanently and they're going to need to make a trade for a bonafide centerfielder. I love the idea of making a move for A.J. Burnett and Juan Pierre/Mark Kotsay, because they really fill the holes we've got right now. There is no defense for Randy Johnson this year, he has flat out sucked.

However, being that he's Randy Johnson, we all know he can turn it on like that and go on a run. We're going to need Jeter and Sheffield to get hot at the same time, and the pitchers to get into a groove to make a run. Easier said than done, of course.

I still think that the Yankees are very much alive. We're a whole 6 games out of first and have yet to click. Nobody buried the Yankees in the east, and its going to come back and bite them in the ass. In case you were wondering, the Sox sat 8.5 back on July 1st last year and finished 3 back at the end of the year, and in the playoffs.

Long story short, don't write off the Yankees, you will regret it.

yea even tho we did suffer a loss tonight, yanks loss again with randy johnson bein beaten up by the tigers 10 - 2, putting the yankees in 4th place between the d-rays and blue jays. what you guys need to do is get the right pitching staff, got the offense to get tons of RBIs in, just think its natural reaction when players see this big deficit that lessens confidence they have and just take it easy to get out of the stadium fast.

Well first of all...I REMEMBER YOU...unfortunately. jk jk...anyway, I don't know exactly how many people have "written off" the Yanks yet. I still think that they're more of a threat down the road because they simply have too much talent (yes, most of it is very old talent, note I said MOST, not all). I think it's going to be a very competitive race down to the wire, with the Sox winning the East because I just think the Sox are a better team. We've proven it last year and so far this year and I don't see it changing. For the AL East teams to make the playoffs, they will need to win the division. With each East team getting better and better (except for the Yankee-superior Devil Rays ), the more each team will beat another up. The wild card will NOT come out of the east. Period. And until I have solid evidence that none of what I said is true nor believable, I will stay with this mentality :D.

EDIT: I do believe the Yankees will get a young centerfielder in Kotsay, but no team will accept Womack. If they are going to get a CF like Pierre or Kotsay, the Yanks have to know that Billy Beane is all about young home-grown talent, and the Marlins are probably pretty content with Castillo. They will have to trade away better players than Womack.

On another note: I was listening to WEEI the other day and I was shocked and appalled when I heard a RED SOX fan say that we should trade Youk to the Yanks for Womack. Can you say "bandwaggoning dumbass who doesn't even know who Francona is?"
