Keep Manny - Why not? To save a couple million dollars? Maybe currently he is slumping avg wise, but lets face it when Manny is on the team is on. With our pitching we are going to need a lot of offense. Manny will heat up and the Sox will ride that heat wave to the play-offs or we could just get ride of him and watch other teams play in October!

You're insane dude - Dunn is going to be making some SERIOUS bank in a little while. Overpriced players aren't solutions, especially when they have huge holes in their game (like incredible K ratio). I don't want him, and I can pretty much guarantee neither does Theo.

How can you "pretty much guarantee" Theo doesn't want him? It's pretty obvious that Theo and most sabermetricians put little stock into K rates in judging a player that's already established himself at the major league level. I fail to see what's wrong with a player that gets on base over 40% of the time and hits 40 homers with a SLG at least of .550.

Is everyone on this website obsessed with K's? The guy has 50 walks and 16 homers 1/3 of the way through the season. That'd look great in a Sox uniform playing 1B. So what if he's going to be making some cash? We can afford it and it's not like he's going to be making a ridiculous amount seeing that he's still arbitration eligible for the next year or two.

He's leading the NL in strikeouts. He's got more than Bellhorn. I have no problem with him, hehe.

Actually, Bellhorn has 72 Ks to Dunn's 68. For the record.

I just got an f-ing sweet idea for a young, right-handed power hitting 1B! Josh Willingham! It's pretty clear that the Marlins aren't going to use him at catcher because Lo Duca is locked in there and Willingham's C defense is borderline, but he could be a great asset as a 1B because he's a solid athlete and a great hitter. Plus, he's only 26 years old and we'll control him for six seasons because he doesn't have a full MLB season under his belt. Here's what he's doing in the PCL:

.346/.476/.753/1.229; 13 2B, 2 3B, 19 HR; 41/42 BB/K in 182 AB's. Yes, the standard PCL alert applies here, but even if that was in the IL, his OPS would be well over 1.000.

I wouldn't mind getting that 1st baseman from the Rangers Mark Teixeira, Shea Hillenbrand from the Jays, or Justin Morneau from the Twins. Maybe even Frank Thomas from the White Sox, he is a little old but currently batting .333

Hillenbrand pretty much burned his bridges when he left Boston in 2003, I don't imagine the Red Sox even considering bringing him in. Plus, is he any better than Kevin Millar?

Teixeira and Morneau are cornerstones of their respective organizations, and I doubt they'd be traded.

Frank Thomas wouldn't solve the 1B situation because he's been DHing the entire season and hasn't started more than 30 games at first since 1999 (when he started 50 games). He hasn't been a full time first baseman since 1996 when he started 136 games. That was 9 years ago. That being said, the White Sox would love to unload him I'm sure.

Sorry, Cajun, two of those four won't be traded (Teixeira and Morneau), one is way too old, injury prone and a defensive liability (The Big Hurt) and Shea Hillenbrand ain't good and we've gone down that road already. He doesn't hit for power, he has poor plate discipline and he's very streaky. No thank you.
