I think last year he actually had a much higher batting average from the #2 slot but for some reason he prefers batting down in the lineup. I like the fact he's kind of hidden down there.

Mueller is extremely underrated. In the era of the hitter, we really don't hear much about him with guys like Manny and Ortiz's hitting HRs, Bellhorn striking out all the time, Johnny's commercials, and captain Varitek. He just sits back there in the 7th or 8th spot, whatever it is and quietly does his job. I love a player like that.

Uh, hey Donny, welcome I guess. But is there a message to go with that quote?

Maybe he couldn't equal the effectiveness that I put forth in my post, and since he had the same view point on Mueller, he just decided to copy and paste it. ;)

I'm glad he popped one into the Pesky Pole tonight. Still, maybe because of the knee surgery, he doesn't seem to be the hitter he once was. I think Youk deserves more time at 3rd.

I agree with sizzlin22 and in an unprecedented moment with Tex, billy is just the consumate professional. Clutch hits, steady in the field...I have never said a critical word about him and never will. Nice job by him last night and hopefuilly he'll stay hot...

I like the youk at first concept, millar just cant get it going anemic average, and hands of stone. We need youk in there but not at bill's expense, but millar that's a fat ass of another matter.

First this infield seems to be a mess. The reaity is that Mueller will most likely not be back next year since the Sox' priority is keeping Damon. That means Youk is the 3rd baseman of the future.

Never happening were stuck with Millar Youk will be the same utility, when we need him guy untill Mueller goes which I personally think will be after next year, he's not gettin any younger and as a 3b with a bad knee it'll be tough to see him go.

I think Theo's going to look for a young bopper for 1B or 3B. Millar and Mueller don't fit either of those roles. Youk will be the $300,000 man at the other position.

All emotional attachments and favorite players for other reasons aside the wiser choice would be to keep Millar. They are the same age but Mueller has more of a history of injuries and on top of that plays the tougher position. Mueller plays third where Millar plays first and the occasional DH and left field, third has much more abusive to the body. Hard as it is to say Millar would be the wiser choice for the team over Mueller.
