thats a ridiciulous rule and hopefully one that will ignorned by the sox.

if so, the stikeiouts with men on which are a given will quickly and permentatly resolve this unusual debte.

the guy just is s***** player with no skill.but I'm sure a very nice guy.

there is another unwritten rule....if you suck you dont play.

No hopefully they do not ignore this rule. The rule is completely based on respecting your players. If the Sox chose to not use mark, and not even give him a single start for the rest of the season then it shows a serious lack of respect by Tito for the players. Respect is a big part of sports and when a team feels that one player has been disrespected by a coach, or ownership, they tend to feel disrespected themselves.

I'd give him two days, against bad pitching. If he fails, then he's gone.

sounds like a decent plan.. I'll go with that...

I suppose given last year he deserves an at-bat before being jettisoned into obscurity (where he belongs

HA! thats messed up but amusing....

anywho, I think they'll give him some starts when he gets back. probably split time between him and tony g. who knows. wouldn't hurt to have marky at 2nd. just if we could get him to swing, we'd be in good shape.

I know I wouldn't mind that. Tony G is reminding me of Mueller in clutch situations and his average is very consistent around 300. I know every player has his ups and downs but Graffanino has been very steady for weeks.

They had Bellhorn sit out for tonight's Pawtucket game, Pedroia got the start and also belted his first homerun in Triple A league. I dont know its just Pedroia is a great player but currently batting around .240, im thinking so far Id like anyway for Sox to keep on to Tony to start as 2nd baseman for 06, then dustin getting the call up in 07 with Tony going back to the backup duties he has done most of his career. just a thought of mine

You make a good point... wait you make no good points, expect the facts that K-Horn sat, and Pedroia homered.

So basically what you want, is to keep an emerging everyday player holed up in AAA, because you love this new guy, whose career average is .263. Graffanino is a great addition to be a stop-gap for the next two months, but he is career backup infielder, who is more valueable that way.

because you love this new guy

i dont "love this new guy", just have lot of respect for him, have been watching him play games while he was a royal. id still like to see tony get a contract deal with the sox, even just as a backup

I agree with Crespo here. I wouldn't mind having Tony back next year in the proper role, as a utility player off the bench. He's solid, and he's the best option this year, but Dustin will get a chance next year to show what he's made of.

I think it's unfair to judge Pedroia's AAA numbers right now. First of all, he started poorly but heated up, and had his average up to .270ish before hurting his wrist. Since then, he played hurt, and as a result struggled a bit. Not to mention the fact that he's young (21?), and playing in AAA for the first time. This guy was in COLLEGE last year, it's going to take some time to adjust. He can still finish in AAA strong and fight for the job next spring.

he did get on base, gettin hit by pitch that is, his OBP % is at 0.77--Gordon Edes said yesterday "yes true players cant lose their job to injury, but as it is with them pushing for first division title since 1995, the Red Sox have to put their loyalty to the side and really see who is the better option to start at second base"

whats wrong with loving this new guy. i feel like he has done more in his short time on the sox than mark has done all year with them. I dont even feel as if we should give bellhorn another try but due to what he has been able to do in the past i would give him a couple more starts but thats it. pedroia gets a chance in my book before blowhorn.

Emotions should never factor into baseball decisions.
