Haha, yeah, I thought that last night when the certain 2nd baseman your speaking of came up to bat. I would love to see Pedroia have a shot, but I dont think he is ready yet, and Bellhorn would still be a better option, but getting him experience would be better than nothing.

He's probably not quite ready, but in all honesty, would he be worse than Bellhorn? He's had more walks than strikeouts everywhere in the minors, he's hitting .277 in AAA right now with a .382 OBP and he's scored 10 runs in 12 games for Pawtucket. He could probably use at least another month in the minors, and I can understand the Sox desire to bring him up properly.... but it's wicked tempting right now.

I understand that he sucks right now. I don't think that the boo birds help out his playing so I think that's just dumb.

Pedroia isn't ready.

Everyone would love to have a Brian Roberts at second base. But I'd rather have Bellhorn a thousand times over than that crappy Cora.

Haha, we know, you didnt even have to tell us.

But yeah, if there is an extra roster spot, I wouldnt mind having Pedroia fill it.

Oh yeah, and Cora is not much better, if he is even better, than Ramon Vazquez, so if you thought Vazquez was worse than Bellhorn, what changed your mind? Just the new name? Im telling you, for right now, unless we can get a Soriano or Roberts type player, which is all but impossible unless we were to give up asswads of prospects, and other stuff, Bellhorn will be, and should be starting.

I certainly don't think Pedroia will be Brian Roberts or Soriano.....everyone likes to talk about David Eckstein ....and they are probably right....he fits in perfectly with our team because he battles at every at bat and plays hard.....makes the pitch count go up and draws walks.....he would be a huge boost to the back of our lineup....Pedroia should be the first player brought up from our young talent...he it the most ready

BEllhorn will get worse before he gets better, the fans were cheering the fact that he was getting pinch hit with John Olerud, and he is getting booed pretty regularly now. Its not going to get any better for him, and he simply doesnt have the skills to turn this around. This is not a slump, this is simply a bad baseball player folks. His career numbers dont lie, hes had a couple decent seasons, but there is a reason why he had three awful seasons after that year with the cubs, there is a reason why hes awful this year, and there is a reason why he didnt get much of a shot in oakland (who had zero decent second basemen btw) early in his career before he was in his late twenties. The reason is, he is not a very good major league player. The book is out, get ahead and bury him with breaking balls.

i see bellhorn staying thru rest of 2005 season, and if cora doesnt do anything like he has done so far, sox should make a switch by sending cora to the minors and dustin pedroia up as the new backup.

No I would want him to start cause otherwise you have a top prospect wasting his time as opposed to getting at bats and being better in AAA

Posted
well look at it this way he will get a taste of the majors at the end of the season. then in 2006, the spring training games, he will have a better idea of what to do when he goes for the starting second baseman nod

For the record, I'd love to see the Sox persue Soriano if Texas falls out of the race. I know I'm going to take a lot of crap for saying that, but this guy is a monster offensively and holds his own with the glove. Also, he may be able to slide into center next year if need be.

If Texas falls out of the race, they be willing to talk about Soriano. Just a thought-- obviously not if he costs a ton of prospects, but he's worth a telephone call or two.

besides with soriano, sox would have to give something up big. back when sox pursuing a-rod, i was watching espn baseball, and they had mentioned sox tried to trade manny for a-rod, my jaw just dropped. thank god for that not falling through. Alfonso does have the offense and defense sox need, its just he is a not "red sox" type of guy

They'd want one of the prospects, the Red Sox refuse to give up.

For everyone's information, those prospects are

1. Hanley Ramriez

2. Dustin Pedoria

3. Jon Papelbon

4. Jon Lester

5. Anibal Sanchez

Ready to get crapped on?? haha just kidding cause I'm going to AGREE with you (go figure).....the guy isn't even 30 and would be amazing as our #2 or #6 hitter. Having Soriano/Edgar/Damon in the middle of the field would be lethal.

The cost would probably be up there but what to do with him after?? Pedroia and Hanley aren't far off from moving up...but its a good problem to have.

I got an idea, IF we get Soriano, we have him play 2nd base the rest of the year. Then in 2006, we call up Pedrioa to play 2nd, and then move Soriano to CF to take over for Damon.

Thoughts?

anyone would better than that greasy f***ing haired stiff bellhorn, unbelievable (and long over due) that tito actually pinch hit for him last night.

It's hard to belive the menatlity that anyone can balme his perfomrance on the fans for booing him, I think it goes the other way around...he sucks so they boo...

we cannot have a sure out in the lineup it kills too many rallies.

bellhorn has to go.

soriano would be fantastic, anyone would be better..cora included, bellhorn is a f***ing stiff.

We cant trade our prospects, we have potential to build a dynasty and allow certain contracts to run out, we have the minor leagues stacked with our future pitching rotation and bullpen which will allow us to spend money to fill in the holes. The system has never looked so good with quality prospects all over the field, its not worth it to give them away to aquire Soriano, who is a very good player, but hes a very good player at a very bad position in baseball which rises his stock. If he moved to CF hed be lucky to break the top 10 CF's in baseball, we already have one of the top 10 CF's in baseball, the move would never make sense and Theo would pull his hair out watching him swing at first pitch curveballs and popping out.

im not sure entirely with hanley, cuz hes been toted by far as the top red sox prospect. he plays shortsop, and edgar had said he wouldnt mind learning a new position, but to where is the question since pedroia is gearing up to take over second base next season. hanley has been known though to play well in the outfield. Edgahh is goin nowhere as of now since december he signed that big $40 million 4 year contract

I think Soriano would be way too costly. The Rangers need pitching, but I wouldn't want to give up any of our young guns to replace Bellhorn when we have Pedroia waiting in the wings. Besides they have a decent prospect at 2B in AAA ( Esteban German, .322 BA, .404 OBP, .430 SLG, 19 SB ), so I don't think they'll be looking for a position player replacement.

it wont be much of destiny if we lose now, waiting for the propsects to mature.

of course, there is a balance...and we arent the yankees.

but we need to solve some issues at the present time to continue to win now.

I think it will be hard to find a suitor for Renterria and his contract and I think the sox are talking up Ramirez to raise his trade value. They are blowing smoke up everyones ass, hes hitting .269 in AA Portland. I think they have realized his potential, and are now trying to get something while they can. Pedroia is the next big thing, Ramirez and Shoppach are the only prospects I see going, and I think Shoppach may even be more valuable because quality catching prospects are few and far between. Again, pointless to move Ramirez to CF, or Soriano to CF, we already have one of the best CF's in the game, concentrate on keeping him.

Yeah but Freddy Sanchez, Jeff Suppan, Kevin Youkilis, Joe Hudson, Dernell Stenson, Steve Lomasney, Michael Coleman and every other prospect we held on to for too long and got nothing for say hello.
Posted
I understand, but he did have really good trade value, especially with Oakland. Its more or less wait and see what we get when he plays 120-140 games. Nothing can be predicted from him yet, but he has impressed, I am just stating the fact that maybe, just maybe we held on to him too long, time will tell. Either way Im glad hes gunna be getting the job next season.

you do know that sox gave up a top prospect to clear up some present problems they had? and that was Mark Teixeria, now star 1st baseman for the texas rangers

he was unsignable for a 10th round pick, and Mr. Duqutte was in charge.
