The Sox didn't go through ANYTHING like this. .500 baseball is a little bit better than .424 baseball.

.500 baseball for 162 games: 81-81

.424 baseball for 162 games: 69-93

im not worried about the Yanks right now. Last time they won 3 in a row was the ALCS games 1 - 3 so they should be due for another 4 game losing streak just like in the ALCS :D

Why would we be worried, our rotation is better then yours, our bullpen is better then yours, our lineups is better then yours, our minor league farm system is better then yours. So tell me why would I have to be worried?

And as for your, were the Yankees, so don't forget it. The Yankees are not real Yankees anymore, they have no chemistry. Think I'm lying, observe these quotes from columist Buster Olney and two Yankee players.

Jason Giambi knew all about chemistry. He had been the fraternity president of the Oakland Athletics, the Grand Keeper of High Volume. He combed his hair and shaved only occasionally, led the team in homers and partying and on-field fun, and was the American League MVP in 2000. Then he cut his hair and went corporate, collecting millions of dollars to sign with the Yankees.

But in the two years between his last summer with Oakland and his 2003 season in New York, his batting average shriveled from .342 to .250. And he was still an outsider with the Yankees. Instead of being the chief bad boy and spokesman for the clan, as he had been with Oakland, he shied away from the spotlight, telling old friends that he thought he'd made a mistake. He found the pressure of being a Yankee stifling, he said, and thought the clubhouse was fractured – a common refrain among some newcomers.

"You'd never see the stars," said Hammond, who lasted one year with the team. "The only time you'd see them was right after games or on the plane. It took me a whole season to get to know everybody. I knew who was on my team, but I really didn't know them."

After the game, Jeter sat in front of his locker, still seething. "It's not the same team. I've said that before," Jeter said sharply. "It's not the same team."

This team aren't the Yankees of years pass, they are entering a dark age, why the hell would the Red Sox be afraid of this team, or better yet why would any team.

Yankee fans accuse the sox of being a bunch of idiots having a good time together (I fail to understand this criticism though). Maybe you're just jealous that you're team isn't close enough to get to the point of being idiots. Chemistry? I think not.

I don't think Steinbrener and Cashman get it yet that chemistry is importatnt, they experienced it firsthand when they won those WS rings. Now all they do is load up with old superstars and trade away their farm system. Back in the day their whole team were players that came up through their system. Even though our team isn't neccesarly that way, we haven't changed too much at all, keeping virtually the same team for 3 years now.

Worthless, the Yankees are back my friend. They have great pitching in the last few games and even our slumping hitters(except Giambi, do you think anyone would want him?...Nah) are getting important hits. Watch out american League east , the Yanks are coming on strong.

You think you are great because you've FINALLY won THREE GAMES IN A ROW? You are still really far behind and you don't realize it. The Sox won their first three games in a row starting on April 14th (ended up being 5 in a row). Heck, we've won 5 games in a row TWICE this season and because you've finally won 3 you think your team is back?

P.S. You're 3 games back of Toronto...Yankees suck.

I remember the good ol' days when the Yankees weren't AS cheap as they are now. Chucky Knaublach, Paul O'Neill (I hate you with all my heart), Scott Brosius. I had a lot against them but not even close to as much as I hate say, A-Rod.

It's truely amazing how quickly sumg the Yankee fans turn just last week YANKEESRULE was jumping ship and saying how they were going to miss the playoffs.... congrats you won a few games against the A's and Mariners come back and talk to me when you're at .500 and beat some legit teams.

Yes we are 2 games back of toronto, but its how we have won those 4 games in a row. Just like the old days. are Top of the line up was hitting good, now the bottom is coming on strong, this is not the end of this I bet when the Yanks face the Sox the gap will be closer and will be bidding for the 2nd spot in the Al east.

P.S. yanks don't suck anymore

I have never jumped ship, I have never said they won't make the playoffs, get your facts staright before you qoute someone. I have said the Sox won't make the playoffs and I truly believe that. I think its gonna be the Yanks, O's, white sox/Twins, and angels. Who the hell have the Sox beaten that's legit, we have played pretty much played the same teams, and have lost series together to the Jays, Rays, O's,and each other and have won series against Jays,Mariners, and A's.

I take it back that was Yankees228 or somethin like that. My bad (I still say they win 86 games.)

No problem, it happens. I think they win 95. They have come back twice against the M's and they haven't done that in awhile. vintage yankees.

According to the RPI (Stregnth of Schedule) the Sox have had a harder schedule.

For one, we're not just beating people...we're sweeping them or outscoring them hugely. ACL BoSox just said it...we have the tougher schedule, and we haven't had many games at home so far, and we're still way ahead of you. We know how to win big road games, that's why we are better than you. @ Baltimore and @ Detroit aren't easy games and out of those we took 5 of 6.

the yankees need to have a .600 win % to have 98 wins at the end of this season.. it's possible but the odds are against them.

could the yankees for the first time in years that the yankees are the WC or possibly eve not make the playoffs.. discuss

They don't have much shot at the WC, mainly because there are so many teams in the AL that will finish 2nd, that are better than the Yankees. I mean, the Twins are 20-13 and are currently in 2nd in the AL Central. If the Yankees find some way to edge off three of these four teams, then they have a shot: the Red Sox, the Orioles, the Angels, and the Twins. If they can't do that, they're dead as dirt.

AL Predictions

East-Yanks

Central-Twins/White Sox

West-Angels

Wild Card-White Sox/O's/Rangers/Twins.....and if thease other teams just self destruct Red Sox

It is possible but it is quite a bold statement to say that the Red Sox will not make the playoffs, but it is unfair to count the Yankees out. Although these last five games were not against terrific team the Yanks showed what they are capable of. There are still 127 games to go and to think that the Yanks aren't capable of making up seven games is really unfair.

The Yankees gained no ground on the Red Sox over their 5 game run, and they gained only one on Baltimore. They still aren't pitching well, and need to have all 9 hitters to hit the ball in order to win.
Posted
Not true. Canos's not hitting. Matsui's not hitting. Giambi (who played every game except Wed.) is not hitting and they gain 2 games on Baltimore (9GB - 7GB). And it's only May.

Our top two pitchers are out, none of our hitters are hitting, and we're still 5.5 games ahead of you.

That's also untrue saying our pitching is not great. Our pitching is really on track right now. Pavano had a bad start last game, but our bullpen is on right now. If it wasn't for two walkoff home runs, Foulke would've made the Sox lose two to the A's. Mariano had problems. but his problem's are fixed. Foulke is has had problems and still does. I think Foulke will get it together, he's a good closer, but he's still struggling, and really dispite his 8 saves has problems all year.

Yankee Pitching W-L, ERA

Johnson 3-2, 3.68

Mussina 3-2, 3.60

Pavano 2-2, 4.80

Brown 1-4, 6.39

Gordon 0-2, 4.50

Wright 2-2, 9.15

Quantrill 1-0, 4.02

Sturtze 1-0, 4.30

So this "getting back on track" thing...when are you starting?
