Hi,

I'm hoping I'm posting this in the right forum but I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm wrong :)

We're looking to come over to New England in August/September and will be in Boston for two days during our stay. We would always regret it if we didn't get to a game during what is likely to be our one and only trip to Boston but finding two tickets is becoming a nightmare.

The official site doesn't offer two seats together for our choice of games and most online ticket sales sites (apart from appearing extortionate) are for US customers only, which doesn't help.

It is highly probable that we'll be in Boston for the 29th and 30th (vs Devil Rays). We would only want tickets to one one of these games but how/where do we look to find two seats together? My wife is registered as a disabled person so we would need seats - standing room only would be out of the question.

So, have any of you good people any suggestions?

Regards,

BritSox

As I said, most online sales (which are ticket agencies?) are very expensive ($500 for two tickets seems like robbery to me) and only for US customers.

I would like to know where I (in the UK) can get two tickets from the US (at realistic prices).

Help!!

There are many on-street ticket sellers for almost any game (even NYY-SOX).

Most are legitimate tickets, but some are bogus, so you would do it at your own risk!

Also, don’t buy tickets from them once the game has started.

Good luck!

You could maybe go with ebay and pay the extra money that overseas shipping would entail. As joe said, you may have luck with a scalper outside of fenway the day of a game. It is next to impossible to get any form of ticket without waiting in a virtual waiting room or long line the day that they go on sale. You're going to have to pay a lot more than face value to get tickets, I'm sorry to say.

So, here we are well before the season has begun and you are expected to pay $200-$300 for an $80 seat for a game in August? That is a disgrace guys! I appreciate (and expected) having to pay over face value... but a 300% increase is outrageous.

Tickets on eBay are mostly being sold by the ticket agencies - you know the "Tix 'R Us" kind of thing - and those are the prices they want.

As for buying on the street, it's too risky for me. I've never seen a real ticket so I would never be able to spot a fake.

You're not going to get tickets at face value anymore. These are the World Champ Red Sox, the tix are in very high demand, just basic economics, supply and demand.

OK... changing the subject slightly. What are 'standing room only' tickets for? Where in Fenway is the standing room only area (colour coded white on the official seating plan)?

I have to add that these tickets are still available at face value - but the $20 price tag suggests to me that you couldn't get further away from home plate if you tried :D

Standing Room is between the Monster Seats and the Grandstand. I believe there are also some in the back of the Grandstand and on the Right Field Roof.

Standing room on the monster seats is different I believe. Standing room is basically: you have a ticket, but no seat, watch from wherever you can. Most people hang around behind the last row of the grandstand. This is how I watched game 5 of the ALCS.

Hmm... you have to excuse my ignorance guys. I've never been to the USA before and never attended a game so I'm totally confused. The tickets actually state a row/block and 'seat number' (though there would be no seat of course!) so I don't understand the idea of 'watch from wherever you can'.

I've compared the seating/price plan at redsox.com with the ticket information but I can't understand where they would expect you to stand... though I am sure they're not monster standing room tickets.

The ticket info states: Section - SRO, Row/Box - 2, Seat - 70

Any ideas where that would be?

Standing room only tickets shouldn't have seat and row numbers. That's strange. Where are you seeing this info?

At redsox.com. If you follow the instructions for buying two of the best available tickets for the August 30 game, that's what comes up.

As I said, it's all new to me so I'm confused anyway!

So nobody (who knows Fenway) knows where 'SRO, Row/Box 2, Seat 70' would be?

I looked for SRO tickets on redsox.com, and don't worry about the row/box number. They are standing room only tickets, despite what the numbers say, and you won't have a seat. The tickets say GENERAL ADMISSION ONLY - NO SEAT, or something like that.

Since the ticket is SRO, the "Row/Box 2, Seat 70" means nothing. You just go to the SRO section and hang wherever you want.

You must note that typical baseball game could last 3 or more hours. If your wife does not enjoy standing up for 3-4 hours, then SRO tickets would be the wrong choice!

Those seats may be Obstructed View or something, so they may have a pole smack in your face. They may just group them into SRO's.

Why would they mark them as SRO if they are seated tickets? I'm unsure if it tells you if its obstr. view when you buy online, I know they do at the box office.

Now we're getting somewhere!

Where exactly is the SRO section?

My wife doesn't enjoy standing for 3-4 hours... but then who does?

Unfortunately, if they're the only available tickets, I may have to take them. :dunno:

Not so sure, never bought this type of tickets, but I've heard they start from rear of the Green Monster just across from Lansdowne Street, and extend all the way to the rear of right field side.

Thanks Joe... as a visiting Brit I'm only able to visualize what you're telling me by using photos and seating plan graphics but I'm getting the idea now. To be honest I don't think my wife or myself fancy 3-4 hours standing but we're both prepared to do it just to say we went to Fenway Park and watched our beloved Red Sox play :D

Sorry about the double post - can anyone say if the Midtown Hotel on Huntington Avenue is in walking distance to Fenway? If so, how long would it take?

It depends where on Huntington it is, but Boston is small and Huntington Avenue passes decently close to Fenway, so it probably is within a 20 minute walk to Fenway.

Also, a word to the wise..

Here in the states they cut off beer sales in the ballparks around (after?) the 7th inning. So if you want to get good and hammered, do what I do. Buy like 3 beers - the big ones - after the 6th. Ya never know if the game's going to go into extra innings. ;)

I don't know if I could put up with walking a mile then standing for 3 hours, but it may turn out to be more comfortable than sitting in those tiny hard-ass wooden folding seats they have. I'm skinny and have no idea how the fat guys do it. :dunno:

They overflow into your seat. Happens to me all the time.

Thanks guys - I'm learning all the time. Now I know that if we did get tickets with seats we would need to take extra coats... to sit on :)

O, ye of little faith!

You won't get tickets at face value? How wrong can you be? I'm pleased to say that two Infield Grandstand tickets are mine... purchased at face value :D
