1050 ESPN Radio reported that Jason Stark reported Doug was traded to the Mets. It is not sure who the Sox are getting but the deal should be final tommorow. Just what I heard.

I hope to God that it's Yusmeiro Petit. If the Mets are dumb enough to do that... well, they were dumb enough to trade Kazmir for Zambrano... and Huber and Peterson for Benson. So yeah, they are dumb enough to trade Petit for Mientkiewicz. *crosses fingers hoping it's true*

Don't get your hopes up. My Mets have completely new guys in the front office, and I think the mindset on top pitching prospects (especially lefties who throw 97) has changed. :)

You won't get Petit, but you will get a few decent prospects. Ian Bladergroen is a great first base prospect. He was injured last year but still managed to have a decent year. We don't have room for him because we have Shawn Bowman, a third base prospect who may be good enough defensively to move David Wright over to first (and he's good enough offensively that we may convert him to a first baseman).

Blake McGinley is a lefty reliever who was available in the Rule 5 this year. He's been great over the winter and should get a spring training invite.

The Mets still have money left to pay for a player? How is this possible?

They were close to spending another $13 million on Delgado. I think they think they can spend.

I also wouldn't be surprised if they went for the high asking price Magglio's going to want coming off an injury.

The Mets are still spending, and they needed a 1B. Just wish Blade didn't go.

Yeah, Bladergroen can hit now, but I don't think he'll hit at higher levels. He was old for his level, he's already had injury problems, he doesn't walk much and he strikes out a lot. The first thing I look at a young player in determining whether or not he'll hit at higher levels is plate discipline. Bladergroen had poor plate discipline against younger, weaker competition. He'll be a first bat off the bench type player... unless he improves that plate discipline of his. He is big and strong and does have lots of power potential. The question is whether or not he'll make consistent contact to justify handing him a starting job.

I never said Petit was a lefty. I was referring to Kazmir.

Oh, my mistake. I thought you were referring to Petit as that lefty who can throw 97.

thats all were gettin?

Bladergroen is a 22 yr old 1b, who was rated the Mets #4 propect by baseball america.* He is a big, tall lefty hitting and throwing player who is considered to have plus power and is said to be able to hit for average.* He is one of the best minor league defensive 1b, but he does not come without his problems.* He has been dubbed as haing a slower bat, meaning his bat speed at the higher levels is questioned and he is coming off a season ending wrist ligament tear which may slow his bat even more.* Either way, they just added a very good prospect, but they could have done better....

Personally, I'm sad to see Minky go, BUT

We knew this was going to happen. Minky's role (had he stayed) would have been as a very expensive defensive replacement for Millar. Dave McCarty will be able to fill that role now.

I don't know anything about the prospect we got, but if Zenny's not high on him, that doesn't give me a lot of confidence.

It's too bad, but Minky's sub-par 2004 really made him a lot less marketable...

I still think Millar should have been the one to go. Oh well not a horrifically bad trade I would have liked someone a little higher than A ball though. As far as Im concerned anything Theo does is a good move unless proven otherwise.
