In ESPN the Magazine, the preview issue, Gammons predicted that the Astros would trade Clemens to the Sox for Lester and Luis Mendoza by the trade deadline.

You guys have to remember that he was 99% sure he was going to retire after last season. Houston is his home, and I think no matter what happens at the end of this year, he retires. He won't leave mid-season to go somewhere else....he'll stay with the Astros.

I don't know yea he did it to be around his family but also think of it this way.. whats 3 more months for a shot at another ring I don't think he would immediatly dismiss it also never listen to Gammons half of the crap that comes out of his mouth isn't true.

Sizzlin, I doubt he would want his last WS ring to be with Boston. I mean sure, he had a great time here, but he is still bitter about the way he was treated here. The last memory of a WS he wants as he retires is with Boston. He would love one from NY, because he was a tank there, or Houston. That would be nice considering he would win one last one with his hometown.

I don't really think he cares that much 1 he's going to the HOF as a member of the Red Sox so that dosen't matter and 2 I doubt anyone would passup a chance to win another ring.

It's the last year of his career, he doesn't wanna get traded and hafta move to Boston and everything and leave his family in Houston. He just doesn't want to.

I've never been a fan of the ludicriously high priced, short term player who you would have to give up a lot to have. Advancing in the playoffs one year while sacrificing your future for years to come never made sense to me.

No reason to with Schilling coming back in a few weeks.

Schilling might not be back for 3 months and just imagine this rotation 1.Schilling 2.Clemens 3.Clement (at least the way he's been pitching so dar this year) 4.Arroyo and . Wakefield/ Miller I mean that would be by far the best rotation in baseball not that it's going to happen but it would be.

I've been reading he'll be back after the All-Star break. 12 weeks total, counting the 5 he's already been out. I could be wrong. That's still better than getting a guy at the trade deadline.

The 'stros have a 2-21 record on the road last time i checked. And with that gammons thing, you have to remember he's a sox fan.

If Roger gets his way he'll be donning that Yankee cap on his plaque at Cooperstown.

During his contract negotiations Roger and Drayton agreed that if they are out of contention that he would be traded to the Yankees, who are really the only team able to take that salary (remember, another 3 mil gets added on if hes traded, plus luxury tax and everything). Even though Drayton insists that Roger wont be traded, believ that Roger will be wearing his number 22, navy blue pinstriped jersey in the bronx at some point this year. :D

if the astro's arent in playoff contention during the deadline, he will with be in a Yanks or Sox Uniform.

as much as i'd like to see ol' number 21 back in the Fens, Clemens would never come back to Boston. He's dead set on New York, that is if he even leaves Houston...which i really don't see happening

He's not going to New York they have no talent in the farm system except Canoe who I would love to see them deal for a half a year with Clemens.

Id rather see red Sox get Roy Oswalt though no sense in getting clemens if he is going to retire at the end of the year!! and look what the older starters have down with the red sox this year jack s***!! Tim and Wells have been streaky and schilling has been injured!

Too bad he's not getting his way. The best years of his career were in Fenway wether he likes it or not he's going in as a member of the Sox. He solidified that the moment he signed with the Astros.

Amen. He's said that he would boycott the ceremony if he went in as a Sox. I say let him boycott.

I think if either of the teams acquire Clemens, as most have said, it'd be the Yankees. But then who could they give up for him? The aforementioned Robinson Cano or Chien-Ming Wang -- and if they want to give up those two, I'm all for it. Wang has been their best pitcher and he'll just get better and Cano has been solid.

The Yankees acquiring Clemens would just be another step towards their demise -- it might hold it off for a little bit, but it's inevitable. So it goes when you have a depleted farm system and an old team.

I think he will end up staying in houston though!!! I mean his reason towards going there was to pitch in his home team!! but there is no sense in signing him when he only has a 1 year deal!
