I was at that game with YesZir. It was incredible.

Oh wow, I completely forgot. I looked at the boxscore and didnt have any recollection. 10 runs before an out was recorded in the first. B)

Yea...I heard the Yanks say he's the next Roger Clemens.....

Is this for real?

Anyone who says Pavano is the next Roger Clemens must be retarded.

he's not as bad as sox fans thinks but he's definately not as good as yankee fans think he is either. a 3.5 era out of him would be worth the $

I certainly don't expect him to be the next Jeff Weaver, but the next Clemens? Please.

John, I think you're right. He should win 15ish games with an ERA in the mid 3's.

the amount of games he win's doesn't matter, it's the era and other stats that do. with that said he should win over 15 games with that yankee lineup.

He will never have one of those outings again, thats like... once in a career. He will also have his brilliant outings. He is a fairly decent pitcher, but will likely take his bumps vs. the Red Sox. Not only because we probably have one of the best offenses in the MLB, he has traditionally never pitched very well in Fenway (cant really judge two starts, but whatever) or against the Sox in general (3 starts). He is 1-2 with a 9.75 ERA, 20 Hits, 13 Earned Runs, 3 HRs, 2 Walks, 9 Ks, all in 12 innings pitched. Not many of the Red Sox hitters have faced him much, only one more than 10 times. Jay Payton is 7-13 off of him, with a homer. The only other batters who have faced him more than 6 times are Millar (2-9, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 2K), Mueller (1-7), Vazquez (2-7, 1 RBI, 1 K)and Renteria (4-7, 2 RBI). Its not really sufficent enough evidence to say he would get rocked or not. He has never really faced the meat of the Sox order much. Hes faced Ortiz and Manny once, and theyve gotten hits off of him both times. It could work to his advantage that a lot of the Sox hitters haven't seen him much over the last year, during his breakout season. But, I think that one good season doesn't always lead to more, so we will have to see how he does, knowing he will have to face 2 high powered offenses a bunch of times in ours, and the Orioles.

i think it is slightly premature to say that he'll never have one of those seasons again. it is possible that he can do it again, he's still decently young and has time to adapt and improve.

a breakout season is more often followed by more good seasons than more poor seasons.

If you want to take a look at Pavano, I know BSR and Zenny will agree that playing in Pro Player Stadium and having the 3rd best defense in the NL and one of the top five in the game playing behind you will save you some hits. Saving hits, saves runners, which saves runs. Pavano also now having to face players like Frank Thomas, David Ortiz, Aubrey Huff, Rafeal Palmiero, and other good hitting DH's instead of other team's pitchers won't help much either.

My prediction of Carl Pavano: 15-10 4.35 ERA

it doesn't matter who agrees, especially because i allready know those facts. the point is that he is a good pitcher and is capable of putting up an era of under 4 or even 3.5. will he do it? i doubt it, could he? sure.
