Yeah, read that in the Globe today... he shouldn't be obligated to give it back but if he doesnt want to he should be able to keep it. Its not like its Red Sox property.

Come on, give it back. It isn't like he was someone who helped us a lot during the playoff run and the postseason, just a defensive replacement. Yeah, i could be worth a million dollars, but he is a baseball player, he makes 3 million a year. It seems really stingy to me. Does he own it? By the rules, yes he does. Should he keep it? No, it would just be selfish.

dan shaugnesdjasjdo is suck a jackass for writing about this, it was not a big deal at all- theo hadn't even heard anything about (as he said on weei this morn)... i don't think luchino had even personaly asked meinckjskldjvich to give the ball back, he just told the press he wanted him to.. so dan shaughenssy is making a big deal out of jack s***

It's his ball to keep - MLB even says so. But if he has half a soul he'd sell it to the Red Sox and nobody else. Christ, this would be like John Henry at an antique auction or something... "2 Million ya want??? no problem..."

Henry should get this ball for the fans by buying it from Minky at almost any cost.

This really sinks pro athletic selfishness to a new low. Of course given the way he hit, he probably does need the money.

In the Globe this morning (apparently on WEEI yesterday) Mink said that Shaughnessy completely misrepresented him. His "retirement fund" comment was intended to be a joke, and that Shaughnessy clew the issue completely out of proportion. Just another reason why I hate Shaughessy more than any other writer.

I hate Shaughnessy, he always tries to make a deal out of every minor issue, especially the whole curse thing, which was something HE profited from, and something he completely made up.

Hey guys comon, wouldn't you probably be trying to do the same thing. I wouldn't call him selfish.

Considering I don't make $3.5 million a year, yeah I would keep the ball.

Posted
Um, he'd take it because its the ball that won the world series.

Yeah, but the only reason he would need it was for money, since he has enough money he should give it to the sox because its more important to them than him, if he had any heart at all he would give it back to the sox.

NO! The only reason he would need it is because it's the ball that won the world series. This isn't about the money. It's a piece of history.

i totally disagree. he said he would like to keep it for himself so he could sell it for his kids collage money. even though he makes over 3 million a year and doesnt even need any more cash, money was definitly involved in it.

dude...if he hasn't saved up enough money for his kids college money he's retarded. he's been in the league several years now and has enough money to retire right now if he wanted to. This is the ball that broke "the curse," it's his ball and he'll keep it because it's a part of history, no money involved.
