ya know what i just realized? he's good.

some redic things from starks' article on espn.com...

Barry's .609 on-base percentage was the highest of all time. To put that in perspective, only one other current National Leaguer -- Todd Helton -- has ever had a season within 150 points of that.

Bonds reached base 376 times. Only the Babe ever beat that. Barry had an .812 slugging percentage. Just Ruth -- and Bonds himself -- have topped that. He was the oldest man ever to hit 45 home runs. He was the third to drive in 100 runs in a season in which he didn't even get 400 at-bats. ... And then there were all those walks.

This man walked 232 times. The American League leader, Eric Chavez, didn't even walk 100 times. Bonds was intentionally walked 120 times. No other team was within 50 of that. He walked so much that even if he'd gotten no hits all year, he still would have had a higher on-base percentage than the guy who led the league in hits, Juan Pierre.

he was FAR from robbed. barry bonds will and should keep winning mvp's until he can no longer put up those rediculous numbers..

my question is HOW do you dare say beltre was robbed? in 225, that's right TWO HUNDRE TWENTY FIVE less at bats barry bonds only hit THREE less home runs than beltre.. think of it this way, in 225 MORE at bats beltre only hit 3 more home runs. beltre only hit 20 more rbi's than bonds in those 225 at bats.

beltre had ZERO triples, bonds who is 40 had THREE.

beltre drew 53 walks and struck out 87 times... that's a 1.64 k/bb ratio

bonds drew 232 walks and only k'd 41 times that's a .17 k/bb ratio.

bonds ave was 28 points higher than beltres and 2nd in the league (i believe)

bonds obs was .221 HIGHER than beltres. not to mention his slg % was almost .200 higher and his ops was .400 higher.

this is the MVP award. the MOST valuable player. i don't like it when people say that it should be given to someone who is the most valuable to his team. it should be given to the BEST player period. the most valuable player on any team. put bonds on any team and he's immediately the center of attention when it comes to the opposing manager.

numbers don't lie, bonds is an absolute MONSTER. without him the giants would be no where. beltre had an amazing year. if there was no barry bonds he would have won it. but to say he was robbed, no way.

robbery was pedro in 2002

Adrian Beltre was robbed.

The only argument you have for that one is if Bonds is on the juice, which many people think he is.

Posted

what makes you think bonds is on the juice? and if he "is" on the juice, what makes you think beltre isn't? bonds has been consistantly hitting very well since his career started and exploded into a monster.

beltre hit par with the league then all of a sudden exploded..

IGNORANT, how is someone guilty before proven guilty? i hate bonds to death, but i'm not about to charge him with something before i have proof.

you're just a dumb hater. jealous that he's putting up numbers better than any player you've ever liked or admired..

Not legally guilty, obviously, but there is so much controversy and circumstantial evidence surrounding Bonds that, in order for the public to truly trust him, he needs to show why he isn't on 'roids.

I'm not a hater whatsoever.

I have to agree the Bonds didn't deserve the MVP. He put up monster walk numbers, but the facts are that the Giants weren't that great a team. Pujols would have been my pick, because he helped the Cardinals win, moreso than Bonds with the Giants.

you need to realize that bonds was on that team ALONE. he is the giants offence. it was bad with kent, it is even worse w/o kent.

pujols is great, but he also has edmonds AND rollins. they split votes but they also helped him score all those runs etc.. not to mention the pickup of larry walker.

w/o bonds the giants would be a .500 team. without pujols the cards would have still been right up there.

as for beltre, bonds numbers destroyed his, simple as that.

well he is on the juice. its proven. some balco guy said bonds bought it off him.

So now were just believing everything that "some balco guy" says....fact is...until its proven that bonds is guilty, hes eligible for these awards...and he should get it considering he had 43 homers, around what manny had, in over 200 less at bats, and we think that manny had the best season ever, when 40 year old bonds takes the cake easily...and i know we arent comparing bonds to manny, but for those of you who think that beltre got robbed, just read some things that ahhchon said.

bonds deserved it cause his numbers were just out of this world. i wish people would pitch to him more. i think he'd be a bit more exposed. i happen to think he's on the juice too but you can't really prove it and there is no way selig would ever throw this guy under the bus cause it'd kill baseball so basically he'll continue to pile up #'s until he retires which will be a season or two after he passes aaron

a word you forgot in there is steroids. I think they should subtract this years hr's from bonds.

there is absolutely NO proof that bonds is on any type of steroids. yes, there is a bunch of hype and circumstancial discussions going on about it, but there has been no evidence that he has actually used them. i hate bonds for what he said about boston, but i dont hate his talent. i wish everyone on the boston roster had his talent. hes a great player.

and what? u want THIS years HRs subtracted? if i was a hater id want his record breaking season gone too, but i tihnk he has earned all of this.

something many people forget is that steroids can help your strength, but they cannot help your hand-eye coordination. thats something u have yourself.
