I am glad that we ended up not trading for this CHEATER. That was the unclassy thing I have ever seen by a baseball player, at least that I can remember.

well at least now we know that he prefers bitch slapping instead of punching. no wonder he couldnt take down tek. and the thought of losing manny after looking back over the season scares the s*** out of me. to me, right now manny is priceless.

i honestly had the utmost respect for a-rod until that incident. unless he apologizes he'll never have my respect back.

the reason i will let it slide if he apologizes is because in the heat of the moment i'm not sure if i wouldn't do the same. he's doing EVERYTHING he can do to win for the team.

That was a total gigantic loser move. I understand doing all you can to win, and I understand the heat of the moment, but it's telling that the wussy-slap is even in his repertoire. I think he knows the rules of baseball inside and out; he knows what he can and can't do when he's heading down the line. To me, it's just as bad as if he got caught with a corked bat or (if he was a pitcher) an emery board. OK, I guess he gets a microscopic slice of credit for the fact that it wasn't premeditated. But even that is pushing things a bit -- it was premeditated in that he didn't tell himself before the game, "Play hard, do your best, and stick to the rules." He's an electric donkey bottom wiper.

Nothing makes me happier than to add some fuel to this fire.

I read in the new york papers today he was stillw hining about it...

He siad, are you ready for this, maybe I should have just run him (bronson) over.

What a classless chump. I think that was a little league move, and even kids 8 and 9 know that that is a classless bush league play,.

I am soooooo glad we didnt sign that homo. New york can have him...

That was a new low in baseball. Never seen that. It makes Delgado's running over doug M. seem like a good thing.

Posted

""Oh, that's how I run!?!??!""

No, but that's the way he walks I bet. While speaking with a heavy lisp and wiggling his heiny.

I will bet my bottom dollar that next season he will be HBP more times himself by the Red Sox than all other players in the league combined. If Torre really is the nice guy that he is reputed to be, he'll have mercy on him and just bench him whenever the Yanks face the Sox.

If anybody out there is friends or family, here's a few suggestions for Christmas gifts, as he will certainly need them:

Leg Protection

Head Protection

Torso Protection

"the unclassy thing I have ever seen by a baseball player,"

Well, there was the Albert Belle incident a few years back. But at least what Belle did could be classified as MANLY behavior.

Posted

WOW.

I have yet to SEE this incident (anyone who wasn't aware that I listen to all the games on the radio doesn't read my posts) but I've heard eye-witness accounts (from co-workers who have TV) that it was blatent, and that he was a true whine-ass (that even Derek Jeter would be proud of) after the call was reversed.

I'm glad that after 96 (anyone remember Tony Tarasco?), and 99 (Jose Offerman/Knobby), the umpires finally figured out how to make the RIGHT calls.

I had a ton of respect for A-Rod until he started whining at Arroyo back at Fenway Park (what started the fight)... didn't Arroyo hit him with a curveball?

Now I have no respect for the man. Him, Sheffield, and Brown...

I hated the Yankees of the late 90s who ALWAYS won, but I respected them. Guys like Scott Brosius, Tino Martinez, Paul O'neil.... Even Bernie Williams. They played the game hard, they played it right.

These Yankees are starting to look more like the late 90s Red Sox...

Posted

more from the classless Rod less one...

"I don't want those umpires meeting any more," said Rodriguez. "Every time they have a meeting, they make a call against the Yankees. No more meetings."

Posted

"Every time they have a meeting, they make a call against the Yankees."

For someone who did not know, this would be quite enough evidence that A-Girl is new in town.

Wow, he really IS a whine-ass.

I don't think it needs pointing out, but guess what A-Rod? Both times there were meetings, the umpires made the RIGHT call.

He wasn't complaining when the overturned Manny's homer in September.

The POINT of the meetings is to make the RIGHT call. I understand he wants to win, but does any REAL Yankee or Baseball fan want them to win like THAT?

I don't know if I'm the ONLY one on this entire site who didn't get to SEE the A-Rod play... but I think this picture (which I stole from MLB.com) tells the tale.

What a punk.

Come on. The rest of the country has been easy on A-Rod. It's a stupid rule that allows a player to tackle the catcher, but not lift their hands.

It was a split second decision, arguably a reflex. To label him as classless is showing some blind loyalty to one team. If it was a Red Sox player y'all would agree.

Remember, he wanted to be a Red Sox so much he agreed to cut his contract, it was MLB and the player's union that blocked the deal. You'd love him in a Red Sox uniform.

But the fact that he went to the yankees and what he's done/said with the yankees this year negates all that. A-Rod is horrible.

I disagree with you Texsox.

Yes, he's an awesome player. Yes, he's had a SEEMLESS conversion to third base and hasn't skipped a beat with the bat. YES, he's had clutch hits for the Yankees this postseason.

I didn't like it last year when Manny Ramirez stepped to Clemens, and I didn't like it earlier when Rodriguez was bitching to Arroyo. Take your base and quit whining about it.

Last night was a disgrace. He broke the rules, and bitched about it. This quote says it all:

"Every time they have a meeting, they make a call against the Yankees." -- Alex Rodriguez.

Wouldn't he want the umpires to make the RIGHT call? Wouldn't he want to beat the Red Sox FAIRLY?

Nope. Not A-Rod.

I have a TON of respect for guys like Bernie Williams, Hideki Matsui, Derek Jeter... guys who play the game hard, play the game right. I lost a lot of respect for Rodriguez this year because of the s*** he pulled in the field.

he had his chance to apologize and admit his fault. he said that he should have run bronson over.

no class whatsoever. his only chance at redemption, GONE.

HAHAHAHAHA...you have to be kidding me. A-Rod is an *******. that was purly intentional. the rule is fine. colissions at the plate are part of the game and fun to watch...but intentially slappy the glove like a little sissy....no.

Did you all see the look on Alexis' face last night when they panned the camera in on him in the dugout? You could have fried an egg on his neck.

If he hadn't done what he had done, the short term result would have been a registered out and a runner on second. The long term result, who knows? If anybody can take the blame for the Yankees series loss, it is him more than anybody else.

Search the other baseball boards, Red Sox fans seem to be in the minority regarding that play. Could it be the rivalry is clouding your vision?

I disagree. Rodriguez was PART of it, but look at some of the others:

Hideki Matsui was something like 1/12 in games 4-6.

Sheffield was 1-15 in the final 4 games.

Even Jeter struggled a bit (he had 5 RBI but a chance for SOOO many more).

There is plenty of blame to go around in the Yankee clubhouse but I would not let it overshadow the great play on the part of the Red Sox. You have to give the pitchers some credit, above average fielding, etc.

This series was as much won by the Red Sox as it was lost by the Yankees.

One last thought on A-Rod, this wasn't premeditated like corking a bat or scuffing a ball. I don't see it any worse than an offsides in football.

Slapping the ball out of an opposing player's glove is against the rules.

Maybe on some Playstation game it's allowed but it's been in the rule book for decades. It was a cheap and desperate attempt that kids try to do on the playground.

Posted

wow, I am in a good mood.

What made that play cheap and classless, wasnt the play so much as when

A-Dick was standing on second complainging and whining about being called out...

"Who me?" "why"..

I have coached little league and I have never seen anything as girlie man as that.

Yeah he didnt try and hit Bronson over the head with a chair or climb up in the Book Depository and shoot at some one but I dont care what the other boards say..that was the move of a scared, desparate, and classless chump.

Little Leaguers wouldnt even do that. It goes against everything any one ever teaches about baseball.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to do that, in my opinon-it was among the stupider and weaker moves I ever seen in my life. It shows the true colors under the image. And it aint pretty
